Right before the game, the Angels announced that Mike Trout will go on the IL for a hamstring issue. The one thing we all hoped won’t happen happened anyway. We expect the team to suck. We don’t dare to dream that this team can even get to .500 let alone make the playoffs. But we prayed for Mike Trout to at least be healthy. It was our one, small wish. And despite being able to survive 2025, his move back to CF this year scared Angels fans and this is why. It wasn’t due to anything in the field either. Just a day after being a DH it was announced.
So with depleted motivation, the Angels played and it was over immediately. Ryan Johnson took the mound and bombed like the Last Jedi. 5 runs in the first, 4 without even recording an out. Somehow, he did last 5 innings, giving up just those 5 runs on 8 hits, striking out 2 and walking 1. Length at least.
Not that it mattered, as the Angels couldn’t hit a damn thing off of this Cy Rookie. Just 1 hit total through 7 innings. That was it. And 3 walks, one of which was picked off of first. Pathetic.
Highlighted Recap
A’s jumped on Johnson, with back to back home runs.
And a sac fly for the first out of the game.
Somehow though, the Angels did not give up another, not that they could do anything besides a hustle double by Oswald. And 3 leadoff walks, I guess. Not that it did much as none could score.
Anything for the Angels at all? Uh, a good defensive play in the 7th is all you get.
They had a chance to come back in the 8th. With the starter out, Meckler pinch hit and there were 2 on with 1 out. HAHAHA got you didn’t I? Yeah they scored NOTHING again.
Bullpen throws 3 scoreless innings for no reason as the Angels get shutout 5-0. 30-46, worst in the AL again.
Upcoming
3 more in Sacramento. And that is too many to be honest.
