After the fight last night, tensions were slightly higher for this afternoon game at the Big A. Both players were suspended, but of course they would appeal, which meant Soler could still play today. 7 games is a bit much, not that it will change much for the Brave’s pitcher as a SP will really only lose 1 start either way.
But that means that these games with Soler still in the lineup had to count, and, well, today was not a good day for making said game count. Detmers went 4 and a third, giving up 6 runs (5 earned) on 5 hits, striking out 4, and walking 2. It was going decently, until the 3rd when things just escalated.
The offense didn’t help, as besides a Soler bomb, the only other run was a bases loaded walk by Logan that had to be challenged. It wasn’t pleasing to watch at all.
Highlighted Recap
Braves scored first on a sac fly in the first
And they also got one in the 2nd on a double
But Soler stayed hot against Atlanta and hit a home run in the 2nd
Which led to Grant Holmes losing control and walking Logan in with the bases loaded after a review
Despite a bases loaded no outs situation, the Angels did not score again, as their incompetency at the plate was laughable.
It was… ugly from here on out, as the Braves would score 6 unanswered runs, which included some help from bad defense like throwing a ball away
And it wasn’t even without injury as Logan got smacked with a foul ball behind the plate.
The Angels even got shut down by Jose Suarez. Yes. THAT Jose Suarez. It was embarrassing. But hey, at least the Angels beat Sale on Monday, and had a fight yesterday. Affordability and entertainment or something.
Angels lose the game and the series. Pathetic.
Upcoming
Day off tomorrow, and then it is off to Cincinnati and then the Yankees. Could sure use Soler in those games…
