If baseball was like boxing, this game would have been called off after 2 innings. Heck, if MLB played by the same rules as Little League the Angels would have lost via the mercy rule. But, alas, there was to be no such indignity.
The Angels got off to a nice start. Jo Adell landing a right cross to punch in a run in the top of the first.
But then the Angels took on the role of Tommy Morrison in his battle against Ray Mercer. This brutal clip is a perfect reflection of this game from that point on.
Much like Morrison on that night, the Angels could have really used Mills Lane jumping in and stopping it sooner. Instead, the beating just continued.
It was 7-1 after 2 innings. 11-1 after 4. Owsald Peraza came in to pitch in the 7th. At some point the final score doesn’t matter. That was that point.
This play by Jo Adell was sweet, though.
