The Angels and Mariners entered the third game of this 4 game series knotted a 1 win apiece. Game 3 was close early on but Seattle rode a big 6th inning to a fairly comfortable win.
Taylor Ward opened the scoring by increasing his trade value.
That feat was matched by the red hot Julio Rodriguez, who mashed his 4th home run of the series to tie the game.
Seattle hit another solo home run in the top of the 4th and the Angels matched that run in the bottom of the 5th. It was a 2-2 tie after 5 innings.
Then the 6th inning happened.
Jose Fermin came in and promptly gave up his usual home run. He clearly didn’t have it today so Conor Brogdon was brought in to clean up his mess. He didn’t. Conor was put into a tight spot and cashed in some inherited runners, allowing Seattle to score 4 in the frame. A Luis Rengifo error allowed the final run to score, so it wasn’t all the bullpen’s fault.
From that point the game was decided. Carson Fulmer soaked up some innings and allowed Seattle to push their lead to 7-2 in the 8th inning. That ended up being the final score.
Nolan Schanuel had a 2 hit night for the Angels. So did Taylor Ward who lined a single in the 8th.
