Late Victory Postgame

Tyler Anderson better go long. It looks like the bullpen is a little bit used up right now.

A crowd of 33,315 seems a bit much for a Tuesday evening game. Were there a million “Bostonian” attendants? I don’t know. Nothing happened for two and a half innings. In the top of the third inning, Marcelo Mayer tripled. Then Nate Eaton hit a sacrifice fly to score Campero. 1-0 Boston.

There were questionable base running decisions by either Taylor Ward or his third base coach. It remained 1-0 into the seventh inning. Brogdon and Strickland pitched. Still, nobody scored. I shouldn’t be negative. It should not be that difficult to get a run. It must be the solar flares.

Sam Bachman came in to pitch a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the eighth. Greg Weissert came in to pitch for Garrett Crochet. Christian Moore was happy to greet him with his second MLB home run. 1-1 tie.

Zach Neto knocked a one out single to left field then Luis Rengifo struck out. Mike Trout was batting while Zach Neto was caught stealing second.

Kenley Jansen came in to pitch. Romy Gonzalez was safe on a throwing error by Zach Neto who left the game with an apparent arm injury. Gonzalez stole second. Jarren Duran walked. Trevor Story popped out under the infield fly rule. Ceddanne Rafeala flied out to Jo Adell for the third out.

Aroldis Chapman came in to pitch for the Red Sox in the ninth inning. Mike Trout bounced one off the glove of Chapman for a single. Taylor Ward struck out. Logan O’Hoppe also struck out. Jo Adell walked. Nice patience, Jo! Scott Kingery came up with two men on and two outs. He struck out. Bleh!

Reid Detmers came in, but he gave up a quick single to score the ghost runner. 2-1 Red Sox. David Hamilton grounded into a double play which helped. Wilyar Abreu singled to keep the half inning alive. Roman Anthony struck out.

Justin Wilson now replaced Aroldis Chapman on the mound. LaMonte Wade Jr struck out. Christian Moore jacked a walk-off homer to put the Angels up 3-2 for the victory. All right. He’s a’ight.

When you hit two homers and walk off the Red Sox, you become a special player. Welcome Christian Moore!!!!

What an exhilarating win!!

Snatched victory from the jaws of defeat!!

For Wednesday’s day game (Angels are MLB-worst 8-19 in day games):

Fitts has appeared in 1 games vs. the Angels, getting shellacked for 5 runs in 1 inning while giving up 3 homers and striking out none.

Kikuchi has appeared in 10 games against the Red Sox, is 0-3 with 5.91 ERA and 43 Ks.

So, it’ll be a race to see which pitcher loses it the fastest before getting pulled.

My bet is on Kikuchi, as he’s had more opportunities to prove himself, and the Sox have beaten him repeatedly.

Hope I’m wrong.

And, please, put Moore in the lineup, rather than resting him. Like what the acting manager did for Neto, in a crucial game against the Astros this past Sunday.

Woot WOOT! Survived Crochet with a win! C Moe with the heroics. Good vibes, let’s hope this kicks off a streak of mucho hits menos Ks. Angels look like a team with some guts yet again. Chowd fans in the stands are sad. Bullpen was nails. Happy happy joy joy.

Jammed shoulder. Ung. Just like that asshole Zack Cozart who ended his career diving for a ball and busted his shoulder for us so we could shit all over him for not being an FA starter…. and then shit on him for never being able to really swing a bat again. What an asshole. CtPG Guy was totally justified hating that guy.

I love Neto. I hope the ju ju monster we created doesn’t get him.

Wow, what a game! Didn’t watch, though. 13-9 in the month so far, 6 out of the last 9, nice

When will these guys learn, you can’t slide head first into 2nd base. Trout injured his hand that way a few years ago in Miami…. Even Shohei slides feet first when he steals … It is just too risky not to slide in the traditional manner …

Sliding headfirst at 1B is risky. Sliding head first at second has the same risk as sliding feet first. Were Just talking knees and ankles instead of shoulders and hands at risk.

I hear what you are saying but I think if you look at the total number of injuries with each method of sliding you would see that I am correct ….

Would love to see that data if it exist. Anecdotally I always slid head first on steals into second after a few twisted ankles from going in feet first and never got hurt other than a few spikes to the hand.

If breaking up a dp 100% gotta go feet first but on steals head first feels faster to me and you have more control directionally.

And here I thought the magic oven mitt prevented you from head first slide injuries

I dunno. I feel like more guys get hurt sliding head first…. but I also feel like almost everyone slides head first. So not sure.

Can’t wait to see the feet 1st swim move.

There are some things you can do head first (swim move etc)that you cannot do with a traditional slide, however, lots of guys overslide the bag going head-first and then get tagged out.

The other thing that was not mentioned is that in addition to potential hand and finger injuries, and even jammed shoulders is HEAD and NECK injuries. I have seen more than one or two guys get kneed in the head or neck which obviously can cause a concussion or even worse. That area is just really vulnerable going head first…

If you’re religious, please say a prayer. If you’re not religious, also please say a prayer. The vibes are too high right now to lose Neto to a serious injury.

“No substantive update on Zach Neto postgame.

He hurt his shoulder sliding into second base, and said he should have taken himself out of the game before the 9th.

He will have an MRI tomorrow.”

Re: Trout. The optimist would say that his OBP this series is .450 (4 walks & an infield single).

The pessimist would say he has one lousy single and 4 strikeouts.

He needs to swing the stick a bit more
IMO.

Mike Trout needs to swing more, same advice for 13 years

Perry might save his job on the basis of recent drafting alone.

The trade that netted Logan is another notch in the positive ledger.

Angels in extras this year, wow. I think that’s 6-1 on the season. Making up for ghost (runners) of Christmas past.

That was big time by C Mo right there. Picked up the entire club and put them on his back tonight. I’ll save the strategic complaints about not getting Shanny an at bat.. letting Lamonte Wade swing away , letting Scott Kingery bat and not having Detmers pitching away in the zone for another day. 😂

Long live c Mo!! And pray and hope Zach is ok!!

Man thankfully I started watching this game right before Moore’s first homer. Wasn’t expecting much with the SP matchup, but dang what a win. Going to the game tomorrow!
