Is pitching really needed in Fenway? Yes. Yes it is. Did we see any today? No. No we did not. Instead of a pitching duel, we saw a slugfest. So can the Angels bats outslug Bawston in Fenway? They had to in order to win. As for Jose Soriano, well, he only lasted 3 and 2/3 innings, giving up 7 runs on 8 hits striking out 3 and walking 3. Yeah, this was one to forget, on the pitching side at least. Because, wow, the bats did their best today.
Highlighted Recap
The Angels jumped big in the first inning again, with a Nolan double to start things off to drive in Neto.
And then a Ward 3 run BLAST after Trout got on.
Soriano squandered that, giving up 5 runs in the 1st.
But, the Angels got the lead right back in the 2nd. First a Neto triple to tie it
A Nolan double right after
And a sac fly by Ward
It wasn’t all offense, as the defense was there as well, like this Adell catch in the 3rd.
However, the Red Sox came right back, with a sac fly in the 4th
And a single as well
The Angels did get the lead again with a Logan single in the 5th.
And that only lasted until the bottom of the 7th when Bawston tied it AGAIN.
Not to fear the bats are here as Newman drives in the 9th run of the game in the 8th.
It did not last. A voodoo ground ball up the middle tied the game in the bottom of the 8th.
Angels didn’t do anything in the 9th. And the Red Sox walk it off in the bottom of the 9th. Angels lose.
Upcoming
