Go For The Sweep!
Moncada gets a day mostly off, thanks to his thumb. Keep your fingers crossed. Nolan Schanuel reached on a hit in the first inning against Clayton Kershaw. Taylor Ward and Jorge Soler both walked to load the bases. Then Logan O’Hoppe singled to score two. 2-0 Angels.
Luis Rengifo made the second out. Zach Neto had made the first. Matthew Lugo doubled to score another run. This was a rather exciting play. Check it out.
Jo Adell struck out to end the inning. 3-0 Angels. The Angels battery had their seemingly permanent pitch com issues in the bottom of the first. They struck out Shohei Ohtani, but Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman both singled. I hope nobody took the under on total runs. Just saying. Yep. Andy Pages homered. 3-3 tie. Max Muncy grounded out but Enrique Hernandez singled on a ball deflected by Luis Rengifo. Michael Conforto flied out to Ward. Whew!
The second inning had no highlights except that the former Angels employee flied out to end the inning.
Holy Moly! Taylor Ward homered for his first hit off of Clayton Kershaw. 4-3 Angels.
In the bottom of the third, the Angels pulled off your basic 9-6 double play. They work on that every day in spring training. Ho Hum!
In the top of the fourth, Lugo grounded out, Jo Adell walked, Kevin Newman doubled to put men at second and third with one out. Zach Neto hit a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3 Angels.
Enrique Hernandez homered to make it 5-4 Angels. Michael Conforto got hit by a pitch. It’s OK. Two guys were out by the time Sho-b-Oat came up and he struck out.
In the top of the sixth, Matthew Lugo struck out while Luis Rengifo was caught stealing. Nobody scored in the top of this inning. The Dodgers opened things up in the bottom of the inning by putting up a three spot. 7-5 Dodgers.
Zach Neto doubled to lead off the seventh inning. So did Nolan Schanuel. 7-6 Dodgers. After a pitching change, Jorge Soler hit a single to center to put men at first and third with one out for Logan O’Hoppe, Then Logan O’Hoppe homered to make it 9-7 Angels.
Luis Rengifo also doubled and Jo Adell walked. The Angels had men at first and second and after a Jo Adell walk Kevin Newman singled to make it 10-7 Angels.

Ryan Zeferjahn came in and put some guys on base. (Freeman, Pages, Muncy). Now it was 10-9 Angels thanks to Muncy. Kenley Jansen came in for the last out, which he got.
In the ninth inning, Luis Rengifo popped out and Matthew Lugo homered to make it 11-9 Angels.
In the bottom of the ninth, O’Shea came up with Hyesong Kim on first. He hit into a force out to go 0 for 6. Mookie Betts lined out to end the game. Angels win 11-9.
