Angels Win 11-9!

Go For The Sweep!

Moncada gets a day mostly off, thanks to his thumb. Keep your fingers crossed. Nolan Schanuel reached on a hit in the first inning against Clayton Kershaw. Taylor Ward and Jorge Soler both walked to load the bases. Then Logan O’Hoppe singled to score two. 2-0 Angels.

Luis Rengifo made the second out. Zach Neto had made the first. Matthew Lugo doubled to score another run. This was a rather exciting play. Check it out.

Jo Adell struck out to end the inning. 3-0 Angels. The Angels battery had their seemingly permanent pitch com issues in the bottom of the first. They struck out Shohei Ohtani, but Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman both singled. I hope nobody took the under on total runs. Just saying. Yep. Andy Pages homered. 3-3 tie. Max Muncy grounded out but Enrique Hernandez singled on a ball deflected by Luis Rengifo. Michael Conforto flied out to Ward. Whew!

The second inning had no highlights except that the former Angels employee flied out to end the inning.

Holy Moly! Taylor Ward homered for his first hit off of Clayton Kershaw. 4-3 Angels.

In the bottom of the third, the Angels pulled off your basic 9-6 double play. They work on that every day in spring training. Ho Hum!

In the top of the fourth, Lugo grounded out, Jo Adell walked, Kevin Newman doubled to put men at second and third with one out. Zach Neto hit a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3 Angels.

Enrique Hernandez homered to make it 5-4 Angels. Michael Conforto got hit by a pitch. It’s OK. Two guys were out by the time Sho-b-Oat came up and he struck out.

In the top of the sixth, Matthew Lugo struck out while Luis Rengifo was caught stealing. Nobody scored in the top of this inning. The Dodgers opened things up in the bottom of the inning by putting up a three spot. 7-5 Dodgers.

Zach Neto doubled to lead off the seventh inning. So did Nolan Schanuel. 7-6 Dodgers. After a pitching change, Jorge Soler hit a single to center to put men at first and third with one out for Logan O’Hoppe, Then Logan O’Hoppe homered to make it 9-7 Angels.

Luis Rengifo also doubled and Jo Adell walked. The Angels had men at first and second and after a Jo Adell walk Kevin Newman singled to make it 10-7 Angels.

See also:

Dalton Rushing drove one in in the bottom of the seventh to make it 10-8 Angels.

Ryan Zeferjahn came in and put some guys on base. (Freeman, Pages, Muncy). Now it was 10-9 Angels thanks to Muncy. Kenley Jansen came in for the last out, which he got.

In the ninth inning, Luis Rengifo popped out and Matthew Lugo homered to make it 11-9 Angels.

In the bottom of the ninth, O’Shea came up with Hyesong Kim on first. He hit into a force out to go 0 for 6. Mookie Betts lined out to end the game. Angels win 11-9.

Why did we have to DFA Noda if Fermin went on the IL? Was he not on the 40-man?

The high ERA Hunter needed to be added to the 40. Basically Perry needed to take out the trash and replace the garbage bag.

Whatever happens with his offense is a plus. His defense is a lot better than soler and Adell by a huge margin. Worth playing him over those two stiffs

BREAKING NEWS: Angels cause panic roster moves by the Doyers!! Secretly preparing for a World Series rematch in October. Admit fear they don’t match up well against us.

Chris Taylor is getting squeezed out in the Los Angeles Dodgers roster crunch. The 12-year veteran has been designated for assignment

Well, at least two firsts would need to happen 1) Dodgers have not been swept in a 3 game series yet this season, so we would be the first to bestow that indignigty on them, also, 2) Angels have not themselves swept anybody in a 3 game series. In fact, the Angels have had two chances to do it and both times failed to close out that final game ( St. Louis series at beg. of year and then Toronto at home about 10 days ago….).

It will be tough considering the fact we burned so many bullpen arms the last two days… but we will see. In any case we would likely need a stellar outing from Kukuchi.

Yes, Nostradamus predicted it:

From the cosmos, a fireball will rise, a harbinger of fate, the world pleads, Arte and Perry in a cosmic dance, the man from the Far East rises. The fate of the team defined with a broom, a second chance.

uh-oh…..looks like another one lost track of their testing cycles and wasn’t diligently following their concealment process

Philadelphia Phillies closer José Alvarado has been suspended for 80 games by Major League Baseball after failing a performance-enhancing drug test.

The suspension, which is effective immediately, will also prevent him from pitching in the postseason.

Does it really change anything really who manages the Angels? This franchise is a mess, and current management is not changing anytime soon so all we can do is root for our boys to get better, not be injured, hit or pitch and field the ball. After that don’t judge whether or not you agree with the next poster, have fun selling your ideas, if they don’t fly move on to you next idea. The Angels will not be winners for a few years.

Maybe we’ll luck out and it’ll just be a couple instead of a few years. Gotta catch some good breaks sometime.

This is one big org*sm for winning a series since the big Mike Trout contract signing back in 2018 back at the old place.
I won’t get in y’all’s way this time, enjoy your fun. Remember in the words of that Austrian guy I’ll be back however!!!

In order, these would make the greatest impact
1.Arturo sells team
2.Minasian replaced by someone competent
3.Washington and his staff fired and replaced by competent personnel

Unfortunately, the most important one of those (you rightly list it a #1) “Arturo sells team” is the least likely to happen (btw, for those who are challenged by the English language “least likely” or “unlikely” does not mean it absolutely won’t happen.). If Carpino gets fired were on the list I would say that was the least likely.

…which is why it was necessary to get demolished by the Dodgers in this series.

Arte hates being the “red-haired stepchild” to the Dodgers. Winning the series will enable his feeble mind to believe he’s leading the franchise effectively.

FungoAle

I don’t think Arte cares about the teams success rate as stacked up against the Dodgers but he does not want to go out of his way to help them

Man. My hate tank is so full…. I’m gonna need to go on a road trip tomorrow to burn some of this off! Man do I hate these Doyers. I feel light headed and giddy just thinking about beating them twice. I may have a stroke or found a new religion or something if we sweep them.

That was an ugly ass game, but we survived the blow pen battle. I will take it all day. We played what I think is a better Padres team strong and we’re not wilting against the Doyers either. All of these games would have been boring as fk 3-1 losses back when we hade The Unicorn and a bunch of lumpy sad men, but these guys, crappy as they are, don’t seem prone to just giving in, even when they suck. I dig that.

We should probably put a stop to that bullshit by getting rid of Washington.

I was talking with an Orioles fan today. He lives across the street and we talked about Hyde, who was recently a genius. There’s just so much you can get out of players. If you’ve got a 63 win team maybe you can get 65 wins from smart decisions but you’re not gonna get 81.

gitchogritchoffmypettis
Legend

AND THAT’S why we have to fire Washington! Wait. Does that make sense? Who cares, I am CtPG Guy and I am fixated on this. Fire Washington tonight because the Orioles are a baseball team, the Angels are a baseball team, and they fired Hyde.

I mean, Arte is our owner still and we didn’t draft some guys back in the day, so have we really even won anything these last couple games? I’m gonna go make myself one of my signature drinks now. Hot lemon juice with brandy and a sardine in it. I call it the Sad Sack.

Everyone in the lineup contributed with at least a run, all but one starter had a hit, the team only Struk out 5 times adding 5 walks and 13 hits. Doubles Neto, Schanny, Newman (yes that Newman and he added another hit too), Lugo, Renny. Homeruns, yep, we had them too, O’Hoppe (The Big One), Ward, Lugo. Speaking of O’Hoppe, he had 5 rbi. 11-9 was exciting game with Detmers winning the game. We also had the most post of the season. Looking for the sweep tomorrow, we might not be Playoff Bound, but taking out the Doyers in the latrine makes our season better.

Last night was pretty much a gem. Tonight was a roller coaster. So be honest with yourselves; how many of the faithful had two wins, both with double digit Halo scoring on their CTPG bingo cards? And with an intentional balk? This is some epic baseball we are seeing.

I had the Angels getting swept in this series. But damn, the thought of Doyers fans spending 45 minutes + leaving Doyers stadium, in a drunken, pissed off rage yelling “Fuck the Angels”, as they realize they spent more than $200.00 to watch their “Billion Dollar Team destined to win the next 5 World Series, lose two nights in a row to a last place American League team” makes me smile. Maybe this helps some Angels trade value, and hopefully they draft well.
