Driving home from Lompoc this morning (saw a Falcon 9 satellite launch) listened to the Mets/Cubs game. Mets announcers were talking a lot about how great Canning was doing and how his turnaround was so major. So why couldn’t we fix him? Huh?
The simple answer is Arte wouldn’t pay top dollar for someone that he couldn’t put on a billboard, as well as the fact that anyone that would require top dollar wouldn’t want to work for Arte. So he hires a bunch of guys that are in over their heads.
You know things are bad when I’d love to have Willie Calhoun and his 724 OPS against righties for us last year back. What is he up to? With Neto back, and Anderson and even Gifo, isn’t he a better fit than Newman?
Ok so I heard from a friend who had friends working for the Angels. Turns out the Angels in 2019 had their draft people want to take Gunnar Henderson with their first pick. You can believe this or not, but personally I believe it, Arte physcially took his name on the draft board and moved it down. This was the draft the Angels took Will Wilson and almost immediately traded him for money.
but if we’re already down by a run is that really a high leverage situtation? How likely are we to get another run? History tells us that a good first inning means we’ll stop hitting for the rest of the game, or (and this is probably what’ll happen) be so far behind that we’ll hit again very late when it doesn’t matter.
mystery signing. Oh well. Re: Colorado, they get the 4th pick this year and, like us, can’t get higher than 10th for 2026. If we were eligible we’d currently be in line for pick #5 next year but we ain’t! Now, back to the ballgame….Brogdon (surprise!) putting the game out of reach, now with a 7, no scratch that, the HR makes his ERA 12.27.
Nice job Lugo!!!!!
Our “1B” couldn’t hit a ball that far in batting practice.
The Joe Adell “experiment” has pretty much run its course.
Very tough road trip coming up, nine on the road: Padres, Dodgers, A’s. Going to get uglier.
I could see the Angels only winning 2 games on this trip.
Optimistic!
It’s incredible how many called third strikes the Angels hitters take.
Can’t wait for the 25th year celebration of 2002. Arte will invite everyone, lets see who still has enough money for plane fare.
Anyone else here tired of Perry’s schtick with his perpetual carrousel of dumpster reliver arms? Every f’n year with this guy.
Griffin Canning, great start today, a few more like this, will be All Star this year.
But we did get a DH out of it, Perry did well here. The DH leads the team in strikeouts.

sub 300 OPS for Newman. Just put him out of his misery.
At least I bet the O’s -1.5 today.
I’d sacrifice our good Anderson, if it meant of getting rid of the other 2.
The only thing worse than seeing Brogdon is seeing him throw a ball to a 31 year old MI with an OPS of 304 playing 1B.

Life is pain dayo
Perry should know by now, if you are being up an arm to give you innings for a week, Wash is likely to put him in a high leverage situation

Still the wrong move
of course. I was being snarky, to say down by 1 run, for Wash, means we’ve already lost, might as well bring in the trash
Right you are
Hitters were hitting over 400 against Brogdon in AAA.
A little late Ron.

Extend his contract now!
I really can’t understand bring him up at all. The guy was getting torched at AAA. Like their worst reliever torched.
Why is he still in the game?
He’ll be released within 2 hours……and the next mouth breather of the week will be up to take his place.
Anderson might count as the MBofW. A career 6+ ERA. But both he and Brogdon are tall. That must impress Perry
If I was at the game I’d be having a heart attack yelling at the Angels dugout right now. That is why i’m not there.
