LA Angels Tuesday News Crash: Birthday Boy

Happy belated birthday J.D. Davis.

Here is a little league home run by Heliot Ramos over the weekend. I’m glad he did it to Texas.

The Braves just optioned Jarred Kelenic to the minors. They signed Eddie Rosario. Tyler Glasnow left his start early for the second game in a row. He has shoulder issues. The Twins just signed Matt Canterino to a two year minor league deal. He will miss this season due to his recent shoulder surgery.

The Blue Jays claimed right-hander Casey Lawrence off waivers from the Mariners. The Orioles claimed left-hander Walter Pennington off waivers from the Texas Rangers. The Rangers also designated right-hander Daniel Robert for assignment.

The Orioles also promoted right-hander Kade Strowd to the big club. Meanwhile, the Cardinals designated right-hander Ryan Loutos for assignment.

This team flat out can’t hit. 69 wins looks like a stretch right now. Hitting is a problem, pitching is MOR (Middle of the road) and defense is very weak at best. Good news is Colorado sucks worse than us lol. Soler is the best of the veteran pickups, and he is not striking fear into any opposing pitchers. PTP is on notice, hope he drafts well.

So what are the thoughts of bringing up an outfielder and dropping jd Davis. Do you think this is temporary and moncada is coming off the IL and campero will go back down. Or are they going to give Adell some rest and make adjustments to his hitting

Well, will Moncada ever get over his “Contract thumb” injury? IMHO Newsome will be the next one jettisoned as Compero will get some ABs and Newsome’s services are no longer needed as Tim (Glass jaw/Don’t call me Jackie) Anderson can spell Neto @ SS and cover 3B, though Neeeefo/Moncada will be ahead of him there.

Just saw an article that Arenado put the kybosh on a trade to the Halos, even though that was a pre-okayed destination.

Looking at the timeline, Kikuchi was signed very early in the off season so I’d imagine this came after that signing.

I’m sure Moncada doesn’t get his $5 million but Newman was also signed super early.

Arte must’ve given the green light to increase payroll for the right guy.

Actually, Arenado’s contract isn’t that huge comparable to other train wrecks the halos have taken on…..

Josh Hader, Emanuel Clase, Luke Weaver, Devin Williams (who btw sucks for the Yankees this season) all disagree with you based on their postseason performance last season. Nobody wants to pay a closer a big long term deal for a reason anymore!!!

Griffin Canning is 4-1 with a 2.61 ERA and has struck out 31 batters in 31 innings.

Good thing we got rid of him and replaced him with Hendricks.

Side note: Atlanta has to be really kicking themselves. They got nothing out of him and he’s killing it for a division rival.

I’ll be rooting for a similar arc for Sandy, even if it comes in a Boston uni

He’s always had a mid-rotation profile. His struggles have tended to be as perplexing as Detmers – but in both cases, I’ve always expected bounceback years, because the quality of the repertoire is otherwise too good.

gitchogritchoffmypettis

Yeah. At least one year he had a top 5 pitch as far as being unhittable…. his change up? Can’t recall. But yeah, he’s always had stuff. He just had to escape the Angels JuJu for a place that’s built on a poisoned landfill next to a bunch of wrecking yards like Citi Field where he could bloom like a lovely flower.

I said it the day it occurred. You take a healthy mid-rotation arm and trade for a 1-trick-home-run-sometimes-pony-DH. Even other GMs questioned what the hell the Angels made that trade for.

You know, when an athlete can no longer perform, everything gets blamed, including: Locker location, color of the foul territory/the field, two national anthems (Canadian teams), away day games after night getaway games, torpedo bats, ugly throwback jerseys, long pre-game ceremonies, wrong walk-up music, you name it.

Man, you know who’s starting to have an “Angels” season is the Twins. Yeah, they kicked our ass, but they are having some pretty solid guys slump for a long time AND they lost two hot young boys in Keuchelle (to Hendricks “fastball”) and Wallner. Their fish is in danger of rotting from the head and other bullshit.

I collect hats. The Mariners have some cool hat designs out there…. cool colorways, etc. I see these hats and I want them. Oh look. They are on sale. Oh wait, now I’m being offered them at cost via a hook up….. and I just can’t do it.

There are very few teams I hate. It’s too much work. But I know I just can’t stand a team when they have cool stuff and I just can’t stand them so much I won’t take it for free.

Man it would be uplifting if we beat on those sea hags at Pee Mobile.

Their 80’s and 70s stuff… with the trident…. and the old S… there are some really cool color variants made with those logos…. Alvin Davis style.

But…. it’s very Kardashian. Cool looking. But annoying, gross and lame otherwise.

Can’t understand the offense problem. We have decent players who have hit well before. Yet here we are with a bunch of strikeouts and poor situational hitting. There are plenty of small market teams that have shallow lineups but find a way to score runs as a team. Walks, clutch hits, those don’t apply to the Angels right now. Doesn’t help that the past several years we get proven star players that flop. Total opposite of our blue neighbor who are masters of getting washed average players turning them into all stars.

gitchogritchoffmypettis

We will likely be a team with a shallow line up that scores a few runs and wins sometimes. Just not right now. Even line ups as stacked as the Phillies have droughts. We’ll just have more droughts longer because we are not a good team. It’s climate science. Don’t doubt me. You have been warned.

LF Trout
3B Rengifo
SS Neto
DH Soler
1B Schanuel (if he’s healthy)
C O’Hoppe
LF Ward
CF Adell
2B Paris

This is the correct lineup.

It’s always a good time to beat Seattle – let’s take these next 2 and escape to May where we will play in California for 26/28 games.
