Great! We face Andrew Heaney when Ron Washington says he doesn’t want the Angels to be a home run hitting team.
And the fielding alignment today …
They should have a Taco Bell promotion called “If the Angels get runs, so do you.” Thank you very much. Don’t forget to tip your waitress.
Now on to the Postgame! The first six Angels struck out in a row. The Angels are not a home run hitting team. They are apparently a striking out team. In the third inning they did manage a groundout and two fly ball outs. The Pirates had scored a run on two singles and a sacrifice fly. 1-0 Pirates.
The Pirates threatened again in the fourth inning but the Angels turned a 6-4-3 double play to end the threat. At the end of the fourth inning. Heaney had retired twelve batters in a row. Eight of those were strikeouts. Two of those were strikeTrouts (strikeTroutsTM Charles Sutton) .
Silent C coughed up a homer to Oneil Cruz in the top of the fifth inning. 2-0 Pirates. Travis d’Arnaud broke up the no-hitter with a double. It didn’t matter. Schanuel reached on an error but Rengifo and Paris failed to do anything. Still 2-0 Pirates.
Tommy Pham drove in a third run in the top of the ninth inning. The Angels came up and produced their 12th strikeout, a double, a groundout to short by Neto. Then Mike Trout flied out to end the game. The Angels lost 3-0.
