Tyler Anderson was tasked with continuing the Angels quality start streak. It didn’t look good early as the leadoff hitter Lars Nootbar took him deep.
The following inning Anderson gave up a solo shot to push the deficit to 2 runs. But the Angels clawed a little closer when Taylor Ward’s sacrifice fly plated Kyren Paris in the top of the third.
St. Louis extended their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the 5th. Tyler Anderson left after 5, ending the streak of quality starts but with the Angels having a shot at a comeback.
Continuing the pattern, the Angels got that run back in the top of the 6th on a Mike Trout sacrifice fly that scored Taylor Ward. The score stayed 3-2 unto the top of the 7th.
That’s when everyone’s new favorite player Kyren Paris again displayed late game magic with a game tying triple. Luis Rengifo got a great jump at first base and this rocket down the line gave him plenty of time to head home.
Reid Detmers looked really good out of the bullpen today and kept the score knotted for an inning and two thirds. Ryan Zeferjahn knotted the other third inning. McDaniels and Burke managed to keep the game tied through 9 innings.
McDaniels was aided by a nifty play by Yoan Moncada. He’s looking the part with the glove. Need that bat to come around.
Free baseball!
Kyren Paris opened the top of the 10th with a walk. Luis Rengifo, the designated runner, came around to score when Nolan Schanuel sent a chopper to second and Luis beat the throw home. Paris then scored the Angels 5th run on a Mike Trout sacrifice fly.
Enter the straight to MLB rookie Ryan Johnson to lock it down. He allowed the free runner to score on a sacrifice fly. Then he got the K to seal the deal.
Light that baby up!

Sorry got busy yesterday so this is late
Nice to see the mighty Redbirds fall to a horrible defensive decision in the 10th.
Emptiest I have ever seen their stadium.
They were saying something about it being the lowest physical turnout for that stadium ever.
Which is weird since they were coming off a sweep of the Twins in which they played really well..
Ironically, Paris’ tripling in the runner from first doesn’t count as a hit with RISP. LOL
Typical Arenado behavior after he was beat down the line, when he glared at the pitcher during the play.
Go Halos!!
This winning games thing is nice.
Wild offensive game up in Sacramento tonight at the opener. Could be the cure for the Halos offense.but will have to wait until May 19th.
Damm but that was a fun game to watch. First time in a long time I’m actually looking forward to the next day’s action. Scored opening day tickets a while ago mostly because my girlfriend had never been to an opener, but I’m thinking we might actually see a win for a change!!!
I have tickets too but Thanks for jinxing that one Jim
I’ll pick up tickets tomorrow
This Angels 2025 season won’t be for cowards.
Hope we can keep hanging around, until we are REALLY GOOD someday.

Brock Burke. Wild to think it, but LHRP are hard to come by. Maybe we should throw a little years and cash his way?
But we still have Jose Quijada lurking somewhere in the system with a $3.5 Million option for next year. Why do we need Burke?
Burke looking sexy, impressed by his time on the Angels. Score one for Perry.
They can get him to host E!’s Wild On Anaheim
10 innings of 3 run ball and 5 scoreless innings by the bullpen without Jansen and Joyce contributing.
MOAR kidz
He is not playing him in the infield
You can Reply to your own comments…. then your thoughts don’t get read backwards by everyone.
Thanks
I have my doubts that Wash will totally avoid playing Paris in the IF all season if Paris survives.
He said when Paris is in the lineup he is playing center field he has other players that play infield
Well, there has to be some leash on Newman/T. Anderson. Paris’ bat is too hot to bench right now, so when Adell is back then something has to give. Will be interesting when Neto is back too.
Did you just hear what wash said
Man, this Cardinal lineup sucks, bunch of unknowns outside of three of them. Angels better steam roll. Hendricks – Liberatore good match-up. Coin flip seeing the Angels are not hitting.
When Neto comes back does moncada sit or Regnifo sit
Newman
Haha I mean Paris keeps playing and Adell someone has to sit
Brain says Adell becomes the 4th OFer. Heart says Paris becomes super-utility and Adell gets consistent CF reps.
Wash confirmed postgame that Paris is only going to play CF. Adell is gonna get Wally Pipp’d 💔
Dumb
Sit Newman
Newman’s eventually gonna sit. He’s not meant to be an everyday starter. When Netos back Newman is bench
Yeah, folks are acting like Newman was a huge acquisition, he is a back-up. In 2025, it was down to either Nemwan or Squid or Jack Lopez.
Not sure its possible but I think your heart is smarter than your Brain P12
Wouldn’t it be great if Paris became a super-utility player in the mold of Tommy Edman?
Or maybe that Ben Zobrist fellow.
Whoever they trade for from ATL or CWS
Or the Phillies. they are our friends too.
Tomorrow. Adell plays does Paris play second and Regnifo shortstop or does Paris play short stop
Can’t we just start hating Adell now? It’s been like 3 games.
No Adell is part of the youth moment. Newman is not. Moncada is not
But Adell’s had almost three games this year and shown us NOTHING!
Pretty dismal spring and looked lost. I’d love to just stick him in right and be done with it. But..you know, we have a 3-time MVP out in RF now.
After nearly 1,000 career at bats we know who he is. He is the most recent icon for unrealized potential.
Well that turned out well. One game at a time but I will enjoy a 3-1 start on the road.
Timely hitting is the best kind of hitting.
If you ain’t first, you’re last.
We ain’t last
Hell yeah
Damn it feels good to be a gangster.
