Top NCAA prospects weekend #3

Looking back on week #3, where I covered some of the best talent in the country, there has been an addition to the players who I believe need to be looked at. To my knowledge, this player has not been talked about very much and he is absolutely on fire to start the year. We’ll get to him later in the article for now I’ll start with the familiar faces.

Starting yet again with Jace LaViolette. His best day this weekend was Friday, he went 3-4 with an RBI and a walk. Saturday, 1-3 with a walk, and Sunday 0-2 with 2 walks. Something that I can’t remember since I’ve watched baseball, which hasn’t been that long since I’m only 17 but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone walk as much as Jace but have a whiff percentage as high as his. He is one of 2 players in the top 100 with above a 30% whiff rate but also has 13 walks on the year. He’s hitting .281 on the young year and I do anticipate that Jace will keep heating up and keep his number 1 spot on the board.

Moving on to Jamie Arnold, he had a mediocre start compared to his first 2 of the year but it still wasn’t bad. His final stat line, 5IP, 4Hits, 2ER, 2BB and 8K’s. Nothing is concerning here he is still a top 2 pitcher in all of college baseball and I’m sure this Friday he will bounce back against Lipscomb and give us a start that we all expect to see from him. Even though this wasn’t his best start we still got the swing and miss like we are all used to, striking out 8 over 5 innings of work, which means he struck out half of his batters faced.

I’ve been waiting the whole article to include this guy. He has been so impressice this year and there hasn’t been a ton of talk about him. A lefty from Tennessee, he’s a junior, he leads the SEC in almost every major hitting category. Who is this? Gavin Kilen has been on an absoulte tear to start the season. Is the 2nd overall pick too high for Gavin? Possibly but he has been doing too good not to include. Friday he was 3-5 with 2RBIs, Saturday: 4-5 with 4RBIs, and sunday: 2-5 with an RBI. His average over the weekend was .611 he had 11 hits and 5 of them were homeruns. Oh and he won golden spikes player of the week. His season stats are very good to start the year as well. His average is .486 which is the best in the SEC, A .615 OBP also the best in the SEC, 1.270 SLG which is also the best in the SEC, and an 1.886 OPS which shocker also the best in the SEC.

Now wrapping this up with his best start of the year so far, Tyler Bremner. This outing shows who we all though he was going to be this year and what he will do in future games. His final stat line, 7IP, 3Hits, 1ER and 4K’s. It was Bremners first time into the 4th inning all year and he didn’t just stop there. He was locked in this past Friday and this performance is what I expect to see from him in the future.

Stay tuned for weekly updates on the best players in college!

It’s early but….

Kaleb Freeman. Sure, he just plays for Georgia State, but damn, what a start to a season. James Quinn-Irons is in the same boat but at George Mason. Another guy I’m digging is Mitch Voit P/INF at Michigan. He look really good AND he’s smart….

I dig Gavin Kilen, did last year too. I can’t recall if he can play 3B or if that’s the other Vols IF I like…. but it wouldn’t shock me if he climbs really high by the end of the season. If he’s a 3B he’ll be a high pick, not a ton of college 3B around…..

Arquette is definitely getting some attention too. Not #2 overall attention, but he’s jockeying to be near the top of the list.

I’m thinking Arnold at 2 and a college bat at 47. With as deep as this outfield class is supposed to be, TT’s idea of netting a comp pick looks brilliant.

Just imagine an Arnold, 3B, OF trio to add to the farm.
