LA Angels Monday News Crash: Ups and Downs

Rudy May passed away at the age of 80 last week. He had a lengthy career with several teams but he made his big league debut with the Angels. Former major league right-hander and California native Doug Bird also passed away at the age of 74.

Also in Angels news, six players were outrighted by the Angels late last week. They are Andrew Wantz, Jose Marte, Carson Fulmer, Charles LeBlanc, Jack Lopez, and Michael Stefanic. Niko Kavadas is hitting a lot of homers in the fall league. Watch out Nolan Schanuel.

Former Angel Shohei Ohtani suffered a partial dislocation of his non-pitching shoulder in game 2 of the World Series. The Yankees countered by screwing up Aaron Judge somehow.

The Yankees are signing dudes even though they are still playing in the World Series. It is just a minor league deal with a possible invite to spring training. Not to be outdone, the Braves signed right-hander Zach Thompson to a minor league deal.

That photo reminds me. What this team needs is a white guy who always looks like he’s trying to push a shit out into his pants for a manager. He’ll froth his man grit all over these players, every single one of which could kick my ass, that I like to call soft from a good safe distance. Like Perci, or Ersty, or Nevsi, or Sargent Slaughter.

I’m really enjoying watching the MFY get beat by that team that is playing against them. Friday was epic!
And I get to go online to see videos or MFY Fans Crying.

I think the real hero this October is me. I have bravely watched zero innings of the World Series between the Whores and the Assholes. I even forgot there was a game Saturday. I went out to dinner twice with friends. I watched a football game. I folded laundry. I took apart a bass drum. I cooked some Korean food. I cleaned my bathroom. All of it was better than Doykees Wowseries and the constant cream fest over Ohtani every time he puts on a hat or blinks hard. The only thing he has over the Jeter circle jerks of the 2000s is at least he really is GREAT. Doesn’t mean it isn’t gross. PLUS! From what I hear those of you who are watching get to see yourself some….. JEEETAH! as well on your TV. How nice.

It’s not too late for both teams and an entire stadium full of their fans and the Stars of FOX Series to all catch a debilitating disease that cancels the series. Let’s go Yellow Fever!

I tried.

I think you know how wonderful MLB black out rules are. The one that won’t let me watch my team 10 miles north of me?

Well NHL said ‘hold my beer’ our black out rules are even better!!

I tried to tune into Utah @ Kings Saturday afternoon- turns out they’re blacking out Utah here for NHL TV.

Long live the Coyotes 🤣🤑🤬

OK- I was wondering what the team name for Utah is. According to the NHL website, they are the Utah Hockey Club. So is this generic like the black and white boxes at Ralphs back in the day (see Repo Man)?

Winner. Regardless of the teams, live hockey beats any other sport.

Yah. I want to learn hockey this year. I’m sure I’ll like it, I’m just too ignorant of what’s going on exactly…. it’s basically how the New World took soccer and made it fast and exciting instead of slow and boring as far as I can tell.

MLB games are still being played? Are you sure?

Are they being broadcast on TV?

I watched the game Friday night but went out to dinner on Saturday. I saw only the last pitch of the game.

It might’ve been me who cost the Yanks that game, come to think of it, ha ha.

After watching 80+ Angels games this year on TV it’s kind of fun to watch actual good baseball teams who aren’t beating down the team I like.

The game one grand slam was an epic moment for a really good dude.

Yeah, with the MLB.TV app I was able to watch a lot of the Padres this year and caught onto the Tigers towards the end of the year.

There’s a big difference in the quality of play.

The last 2 months of Tigers games was chef’s kiss baseball. A total team effort that caught fire and they battled all the way into the play offs. This is an example of why the internet rules.

It would even be great if balckouts, RSNs etc went away and teams got paid according to viewership. So if a team…. say the Reds…. has exciting players like Greene and De La Cruz they get more hype, the team gets hot, suddenly more people are watching their games on the web all over Merica. Reds get paid. Reds Vs Pirates against Paul Skenes? huge viewership.

But a team like the Pirates or Rays would be encouraged to have “character” and promote their players and gain viewership outside their “market”. They can make more money that way.

I concur. I’m actually surprised that I’m still able to log on here since I let the two Doyer trolls here get under my skin. I apologize if I offended any actual Halos fans.

I watched a lot of hockey this weekend. Unfortunately, you have to have about four services to watch all of the Kings’ games. I made the choice to get them all last season.

A bad regular season game between the Ducks and Sharks is still better than watching the WS.

Have a great day, everyone. Sharks play the Utah team tonight, so I expect to be watching it.

I like the fact that Kavadas has a .410 MILB OBA. We need guys like that, and the power. Hopefully he can translate that to the MLB.

It’s also just smart. If he’s a minimally bad LF, a minimally bad 1B and he can DH and that get’s him 450 AB against pitchers he matches up well against and he hits for a +.450 SLG that’d be an asset for us. If he could become our Jorge Soler or something that’d be fantastic.

It would be consistent with the Angels 10 year plan to play him in left field where he can use his vast inexperience combined with his NFL bulk to run into and injure Trout.

trAdition!

Yeah. I don’t think he’ll be GOOD…. though he’s young so you never know, he could click on something that makes him strike out less. But if he ended up being average Brandon Belt for us that’d be fine. He’d fill a need for walks and pop. Adam Dunn? A guy who needs to be in a good line up, but provides muscle. He could pull that off maybe.

Kavadas has the perfect profile to be incredibly streaky at the plate. Like extreme streaks. Like hits 5 home runs in a week and then doesn’t put a ball in play for a week.

Carlos Pena is his ceiling IMO. And I’d gladly take that but doubt his makes it.

Yah. Carlos Pena. Exactly. Useful, but not wonderful.

Treinen is a bad matchup for Judge. Aaron needs to hit the ball to right field and not try to pull the slurve (or whatever pitch Treinen throws). I have been waiting for announcers to not Treinen is far more effective against righties than lefties due to that pitch. Maybe I missed that commentary.

Otherwise Judge is just in a funk and those are hard to escape in a few days. Players overthink and then cannot hit. We will see. Wells has something similar going on. It’s hard for teams to win when certain spots in the order are automatic outs.

I think Judge is due for a big game in New York, but like Pujols against the Rangers in 2011, it might be his only big game out of the series. Maybe he’ll hit a game winning homerun right before that meteor strikes.
