LA Angels Wednesdsay News Crash: 4 games, no Halo

Morning Angels fans. Have links for teams that actually don’t suck.

Around Baseball

All the LDS series started 1-1, and now 2 are 2-1. Padres lead Dodgers and Mets lead Phillies.

MLB postseason TV ratings are really good. Prolly cuz Ohtani.

The Mets embrace Grimace. And so does Mcdonalds.

Seriously, there isn’t much else to talk about. I am drawing blanks. Only Padres and Dodgers yelling at each other beef about balls being thrown.

Anything I missed? Post below for upvotes!

I swore I’d buy a hat if they switched to brown and gold back in the day. I’m glad I did, cause now I’m getting all sorts of side eye from Duh Blew Crew around town. The seethe is real. It’s nice to see a genuine fan base like those Padres folks having a great time right after watching a pile of games at Yankees/Dodgers stadiums full of their “real fans”.

Dodgers “balls” = “BUY ME DUH BESS STUFF! I WIN!”

Just don’t bring up balls at all team Hollywood. That would probably be best.

They should stick to topics like how Ohtani’s sub-.700 OPS in the post season is actually the most majestic first time splash blast wonderful zoms gah .690 OPS that any human being alive wearing a shirt has ever had ever. We are seeing history here people. You DO NOT trade quivering chunks of raw history!

Just a reminder, long before trAdition ruled us …..we were once young, beautiful and exciting. We had a gleam in our eye, confident and fun. We were actually sexy back in 2002. Good times, good memories, could watch this another 6,140 times.

I really enjoyed being able to watch the Doyers lose last night using up two “previews” on the Fox Sports app on two devices in my home. I’m wondering if I only get to do that once per device or once per game. I think I have enough devices to watch at least two more games.
Back in 2010, I made the jump to streaming by cutting the cable cord when I saw the potential of Roku. It was a smooth transition for the most part—except for one thing: I missed live sports. Specifically, I missed falling asleep with the game on, a ritual I cherished. Eventually, I found ways around it by subscribing to the MLB app to catch games or listening to podcasts during the offseason. While it helped, I couldn’t shake the feeling of missing out, especially on those big, live moments.
I gave the MLB app a shot for streaming games, and while it had its perks for out-of-market matchups, the blackout restrictions were a nightmare. I even paid for playoff games but was stuck watching from limited camera angles—it felt like a total ripoff. If they’ve improved that, I’d be happy to give it another try, but it hasn’t been worth it so far.
Going back to cable seemed crazy, considering I’d have to fork over $85 a month just to catch Angels games, so I explored some alternatives. I tried pirate streams and even hit up local dive bars to catch key games. There’s nothing like watching in a place like the Polka Palace or the Raccoon Saloon, but it’s not always feasible. And those Captain Jack-style sites? Always sketchy, and I didn’t want to deal with viruses.
So, when I heard about the Twins offering a $20-a-month streaming option for 150 games, I was excited. As an Angels fan, that’s the model I’m hoping for. Honestly, I’d pay $30 a month just to stream Angels games or, even better, an all-access MLB package where I can watch any game, anytime. And if it includes watching the MFY’s (Yankees) lose every day? Well, that’s just icing on the cake.
Streaming needs to be more accessible for the everyday fan, and hopefully, more teams adopt this approach soon!

Yeah. I heard about that Twins thing and I am really rooting for it to work. We have the technology now, with a lagging video feed, to do ads online for live broadcasts same as on TV. The Twins could actually make fairly good money from this thing, not “fleecing all the cable subscribers” money, but solid income that they have control of.

If one of these teams that are so poor the need to innovate this way can prove it works then other teams will adopt it and I like that idea.

Another idea that came up in a talk with friends about stupid “black out” protections. After MLB realizes that for 75% of teams traditional TV is dying anyway, why not sell “Screen tickets”? Basically charge viewers a fee to view a game, same as if they bought a ticket to the game. Say $5.00 game. Or 30 game packages for $60. Etc. Do season tickets. Combine season “ticket” sales with in person ticket packages and team merch. Send season “ticket” holders the bobble heads. Do a home/road split with other teams…..

You can even announce “attendance”. Ladies and gentle men and other…. our paid attendance at Traget field is 32,000 and those fine folks are being joined by 370 thousand Twins fans around the world on this Wednesday night!”

There are a lot of cool things that can be done like this…..

I couldn’t agree more with your take. While it’s taken much longer than it should have, the “fleecing” of fans by traditional TV deals is slowly coming to an end. A pay-per-game model would be a game-changer for both fans and teams. Consumers would love it—imagine paying more for a Dodgers or Yankees matchup and less for games against struggling teams like the A’s or Pirates. Teams could capitalize on high-demand games and still draw revenue from those lower-interest matchups, all while continuing to make money from advertising during broadcasts.
Beyond the fan benefits, this model could actually be more profitable for teams. Between charging premiums for popular games and the revenue from commercials, they might even pull in more than they do now from cable contracts.
However, I’d love to see more competitive balance in MLB. If every team used the MLB app as a distribution platform, it could help close the gap between big-spending teams like the Dodgers, with their $200 million in revenue, and low-budget teams like the A’s, sitting around $70 million. Giving all teams equal access to viewers and streaming revenue might make the sport more balanced and exciting across the board.
Lots of cool thing….

The problem is the politicians. They seem to be much more interested in going after Google, which has done absolutely nothing but make people’s lives better than tackling real bad actors like the “medical industry” conglomerate monopolies or the news/entertainment/advertising trust. And don’t get me started on the college sports abortion they have allowed to happen before our very eyes! That’s all I got.

Alonzo who appears headed for free agency with 3 post season HRs, so, as another Arte (Johnson once would say, interesting, but provocative…..Tatis Jr. has either proven that he never needed steroids in the first place, or he is once again “juiced”…..MLB is liking the TV rating that the Dodgers and Padres are pulling, it has everything to do with Shohei……I’m thinking the days of the golden days of Baseball sports announcers is long past as almost all I have listened to do not hold my interest in the game being played. How did this game ever evolve into 2-3 man (Women) booth? Scully and Enberg would not be legends…… Why are so many PED users employed by Fox Sports?……Have a great day watching Post Season Baseball and I hope for your team winning for you today.

I agree about the announcers. All they do is yell, as if that generates excitement. It send me to mute on the remote. I do hate the steroids guys are in the booth.

Right on, Grandpa! I’d really like to hear from someone who has tuned in a sporting event because of who the talking heads were…ever. I don’t believe such a person exists, yet those bozos continue to be paid obscene money.
