So, the song “The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota” is about the Biggest Ball of Twine in the world, or the biggest one in Minnesota? It was unclear and has bugged me for years. Anyway, Detmers was back and looking to knock the Twins down as that team actually has something to play for. He went 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, striking out 8 and walking 2. Which was a quality start, and not good for the Twine Twins.
Especially when the Angels scored lots of runs. Even Drury got involved! Remember him? Yeah, that was odd, and makes you wonder where was this the rest of the year.
