5-4 Angels
I really want to type that Zach Neto single-handedly won today. He did it freaking all. The dude accounted for all 5 runs scored, made some crazy defensive plays, and just had me overall hype-r than a triple shot of espresso in my frapp. Did you see that bomb? 109.2 off the bat to put the Angels back on top by 1 late and close. Not only could you see and hear it gone instantly, you could FEEL the reverberation miles away.
Of course, putting 100% of it on that would be a disservice to Jose Soriano, who threw 6 shutout innings, but like, did you see his barehand play in the 9th to help Joyce get his first career save (where he finished off the last hitter with 104.7 MPH heat)???
Strickland and Crouse may have put a temporary damper on my night by allowing a grand slam to JD Martinez, but all told, Zach Neto’s 3 times on base tonight tied up the series against a pretty damn solid team in contention.
We should also give Kevin Pillar his due. If this Jim Edmonds level play doesn’t happen here to set the tone for everything, maybe the entire game ends up falling through our clutches.
You know, now that I watch the clip again, Zach Neto appears to have been willing that ball into his glove.
Tomorrow, Zach Neto squares off against Angels legend Jose Quintana. I feel kinda bad for the southpaw, but everyone is really just a stepping stone for this superstar.
Many have concluded that OāHoppe is currently our best/most valuable player but, Neto isnāt far behind.
In fact, while OāHoppe might have a higher floor, Neto might have a higher ceiling.
Theyāre both studs. Give Perry big time credit here.
Halos are going to win easily today. Quintana? š¤£š¤£š¤£
Jinx!!!
Arte still owns the team. There’s nothing that’s a bigger jinx than that.
Today’s Lineups

Lets go Habs!
LeBlank at 3rd.
Yes! No Drury.
Great game. A ton of joy in an otherwise joyless season. Time to cycle out Crouse and Strickland who have exceeded their sell by date.
Someone has to pitch the 6th 7th and 8th innings M.L. Considering who we traded away at the deadline , the remaining choices have taken a hit.
But I’m hoping this motivates the Angels to try and develop some kids from AA for next years pen.
Today the Trash Pandas will be playing for pizza as our last new trade acquisition , Italian born Sam Aldegheri will making his Angel Organization debut starting for Rocket City .
Go Italian Stallion. He cant be any worse than Sam Bachman yesterday who probably had his worst start in professional baseball giving up 5 hits 5 ER’s 1 Walk 1 HBP and 2 HRs in 2/3 of inning . His fastball which was claimed to be in the high 90’s and tough triple digits coming out of college was just 92-94 yesterday. Sounds like an injury is forthcoming.
Another Minasian swing and miss.
And on Neto O’Hoppe Joyce among others. Are those more Minasian Home Runs?
I dont know how to break it to you but failure permeates all teams drafts or have you already forgotten Angel drafts 2010 through 2020 when Perry was spending alot of time eating chicken fried steaks down in Atlanta
We should be thankful that we are actually making progress even though it is incremental. I am more encouraged than not as his 2022 was probably the Angels best draft in 13 years. Unfortunately Perry’s biggest mistake in 2021 was targeting all pitchers when the COVID probably stunted the whole draft board’s development. https://x.com/Jared_Tims/status/1819893090431504410 I think Perry kept Billy’s old scouting director and his regime in place for that draft and then replaced him afterwards. That probably didnt help.
Almost certainly a lost season but… 105 is super bitchin’. Season like this teaches you to appreciate the nuances.
Hey Twebur, time to get up. ļ»æ š ļ»æ
He has much to learn about trAdition!!

Here’s some extremely shitty video of it: https://www.milb.com/rocket-city/video/double-a-hartford-turns-a-triple-play
One thought after a cursory glimpse of his, what?, 14 ABs so far…
He uses the whole field. Sprays linedrives to the right. Pulls bombs to the left. Seems to have more “feel” than some of those pre-draft reports suggested.
I’ve seen better quality little league games being streamed.
When we are good, we are good, when we are bad, we are bad.
Still, I have enjoyed this season more than the last several as we watch young players develop.
The challenge is that we are relying on 3-4 young players to carry the team with real no middle of the order. Not even a 36 year old J D Martinez.
When its good
Its so so good
When its gone

I feel like now that thereās a finality to the āwill Mike Trout be back this season or not?ā dance, and the trade deadline has also passed, Wash can finally just say āF it,ā and heāll just write the lineup and manage games the way he fully wants and intends to. No more need to consider, what if Trout comes back and teamās only 7 GB? Just do it the way you want to Wash!
He’s been doing as he pleases all year.
Shouldnāt he have been doing that all year. Heās 71: so itās not like heās got to worry about the future. This is his last job.
Who?
Nice comeback win…how many do we have now?
29. The Mets lead the MLB with 31.
Thank You!! Let’s not catch them this weekend…too stressful.
The down side of that stat is that we fall behind often giving us many opportunities to come back.
Nice win for the kids.
The Plumber, Thaiss, and Adell all contributed.
cut/paste quotes from JD Martinez from the ESPN write-up:
“It was hard, I’ve never seen a fastball like that,” Martinez said. “That’s the fastest fastball I’ve ever faced.”
Martinez, who hit his second grand slam in eight games in the loss, took it in stride, though, and had fun with it in his postgame media availability.
“He threw it, I laughed,” he said. “After he struck me out, I was kind of smiling. I was like ‘Whoa.’ I had to look up at the radar, and said, ‘that was different.’ But kudos to him. He throws hard, and comes right at you.”
Iāve always liked JD. I love Ben Joyce.
And allegedly So did Perry.

Meanwhile Estevez hit a batter with 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th to load the bases, then walked in the winning run
That sucks that it was against Jerry’s kids
EstĆ©vez will probably never be the same now that heās lost his Angel pitching coach.
He got screwed by a rotten ump call, so he brought that with him from Anaheim. I love everything about offloading him for the too very promising prospects.
Yep. https://x.com/UmpireAuditor/status/1820036421861974136
104, 103, 105. Wow
4 out variety for his save cherry. Solid
Zach Neto, tbh.
Donāt look now, but the Angels are kinda fun to watch again.
Now if we could just find 15 more good players to go with the kids š
At least one legit third baseman
Anyone know what Troy Glaus is up to these days?
Coaching Team USA development squad.
Chone Figgins?
I would take a phat 50-year old Troy Glaus to play 3B for this team this season. Who cares if he canāt run or field anymore? Just hit bombs and be done with it.
Seriously though, itās kind of sad thereās been no decent Angels 3B, maybe except for Chone, since Troy left in 2004. There were succession plans in place (Dallas, Brandon), but they just didnāt work out.
P.S. Troy was my first favorite Angel. Became an Angels fan watching him absolutely destroy everyone in the 2002 WS run.
If we can find a 3B we are free to trade Heefo.
We have at least one more kid on the way.
Frenchy in the booth with free french fries tomorrow. What a win.
In the post game replays you could clearly see Joyce run up to O’Hoppe and say “104.7” hahaha
