LA Angels Wednesday News Crash: Staff It

Morning Angels fans. Have some links.

Angels News

Major awards for the Angels is all Ohtani, but in the minors, the Angels do get some love. Like a Gold Glove for Nelson Rada. Wonder if he is a fan of Schnitzel

So, the new Angels 1B coach is a Rendon whisperer. Apparently. He better not be lying.

More Angels coaching rumors are popping up. Which one of these would make a good one?

While many Angels fans, especially here, are ready to just fully rebuild, Brian Kenny is giving up Hopium. Really don’t feel like trusting him. Not this time.

Percy had a hand in firing 2 minors pitching coordinators because he hates iPads. Yes, THAT Troy Percival.

40 man roster has been set and the Angels make sure Jack is on it. The deadline was yesterday, so, no more changes until FA rolls in. That is, unless the rule 5 draft has some surprises.

Around Baseball

Padres Owner has died. He was 63.

QO accepting deadline is here and no one is biting. All of them are expected to make a ton of money so, no surprise there.

Miami gets the NL Manager of the year. Making the playoffs with that payroll is impressive.

Baltimore gets AL Manager of the year. Winning the AL East when no one expected you to is a big reason why.

Oakland has tried but it seems like the other owners will approve of the A’s move. Only the Nevada teachers union stands in the way.

Florida is trying to make the lives of minor league players worse but Manfred said it won’t be an issue. Sure… right… uh huh…

Oh yeah, the Sneks got rid of C-Rod. Maybe he can be brought back to the Angels.

Anything I missed? Post below for upvotes.

I hope I’m wrong but I have a suspicion that the Washington signing might be the highlight of our offseason. I actually like the move but I felt that manager was fairly low on the list for 3 straight 70ish win seasons.

Always the movies have Dodger stadium as the Angels home field, even in Naked Gun……uggh!

It wasn’t Dodger stadium, it was the Oakland Coliseum before they enclosed it for Football. You’re right about Dodger stadium being used in Naked Gun tho.

Although someone should tell Dylan when his beloved Doyers sign Ohtani next year they’ll also be paying 50% of their payroll to only 3 players

Don’t like Hernandez but he does make mention that the Angels dont have the farm system that can regularly plug in cheap homegrown players around the mega contracts to balance it out. The Dodgers can.

Bo Porter is a good add to the staff for 2024.

Over/Under on how long Washington and staff last. 2yrs and 4 months of a seasons is about right. PTP is the key, if Perry takes a powder prior then it may have a effective result
in Ron tenure too. Will Arte sell soon? My guess is yes, next off season as the price will naturally rise and we all know he can stand the embarrassing of himself.

I truly wish I wasn’t an Angels fan, it’s embarrassing trying to defend the indefensible.

Did anyone ask JHS about Torii Hunter not being on his coaching staff?

So, everyone but me hates the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, just plain old Anaheim Angels, or California Angels name. Uh? Which one is it that would please everyone? I hated the California Angels name as I’ve always thought California should be two states-Northern and Southern. SoCal Angels? Southern California Angels? Either one.

Anaheim Angels is the only acceptable name (to me)

Los Angeles Angels for me because that’s our origin and it’s not like we are in a different state all together. But I like the sound of the So Cal Angels 😁

LA Angels is fine. It’s their heritage.

No way MLB allows a state with 5 (for now) teams the entire state to a single team, no matter how many fond memories some of us (myself included) have.

“Anaheim Angels” was a Disney marketing tactic, not some altruistic “we’re here” thing they did, in spite of the butthurt residents of the city. Also, OMG ANAHEIM ANGELS World Champs! was twenty-one years ago. The name had nothing to do with the championship.

I never liked the Anaheim Angels name. It seemed to be a cheesy Disney marketing thing to get their Disney City to be more recognized on the map.

No one on the planet knows what Anaheim is. Unless you are from CA, are a die-hard sports fan, or paid attention to Disneyland. Almost every other team in all of baseball is named after a place extremely recognizable world-wide. It seems silly to me that a team would be named Anaheim something, if it wants to market. That’s why I didn’t blame Arte one single bit when he changed the name. I give the guy credit, marketing is one thing he knows.

They should lean HARD into California Angels and do a full rebrand. Renovate the stadium to fit and everything.

I don’t care about the city/state/planet naming

All have different ideas, from history of the Angels comes Los Angeles and California, from Disney’s ownership Anaheim Angels, and from marketing standpoint we once again are the Los Angeles. As we know, the city name does not mean that a team plays in that city.

Thank you for your ideas.

I think they should be named the Earth Angels has a nice ring to it. Seriously L.A. or California work for me.

I’d have preferred Showalter, but either way we got an old school player/manager that has survived and thrived in the ultra-modern MLB era.

Go Halos!!

Gotta admit it, I am pumped. I am glad he’s already looking at the younger core and I believe his presence may influence some FAs to want to wear red in SoCal in 2024.

The Los Angeles Angels has been around since 1892!!

That’s right 1892 and is the most correct name possible.

The O’Malley’s stole our name and logo for blue in 1958.

Okay, fine. Los Angeles Angels hasn’t been accurate since 1966.

We play in Anaheim and Orange Country. I live in Los Angeles. We are the Anaheim Angels haha

The CA logo with the silver halo that ‘78 posted was not fromDisney . The logo came from former club President Richard Brown when Jackie hired him to run the team.

Why does nobody ever make fun of the NY Jets and the NY Giants? Those teams don’t even play in the same frickin’ state as their name!

LOL, I hate that I love this team.

“Looks like Buddy Carlyle, who was the minor league pitching coordinator let go from the Angels just recently, has already been snapped up. He’s the pitching coordinator for the Rays now. In terms of PD reputation, that’s a big jump up, kind of interesting.”

Firing the coach that “fixed” Detmers is now employed by the elite pitching factory, otherwise known as the Tampa Bay Rays.

I’m sure we know more than TB. Our track record is sterling.

So we had a Rays level pitching coach and gave him up. Awesome.

I’m sure this will work out as well as when Reagins fired the scout who signed Trout, Skaggs, and Grichuk in one class.

Where will this event be held?

Outside, under the gigantic Red Hats in the fresh air, full exposure to the sun?
(possibilty of rain today according to Dr. George Fichbeck)

Or, inside, in the dark, dank basement under the stadium. Where the claps echo in the damp bunker of lies and evil. Arte is so cheap he won’t even pay for a few DampRids to help with mustiness.
