MLB had required uniform form language across all 30 teams for employment contracts involving people like managers, coaches, and trainers. That requirement is no more. This appears to be an attempt by MLB to avoid getting roped into employment litigation and to protect the antitrust exemption. In related news, the Guardians just canned three of their coaches.
Is a bullpen game in the World Series wrong? Anyway, I guess the Rangers won the World Series. Get their uniforms while they’re hot. Corey Seager won MVP.
Aaron Judge won the Roberto Clemente Award this year.
Here is a list of 2023 non-tender candidates. The only Angels I could find were Jose Suarez and Jose Quijada. These guys are not all that expensive at approximately $1 Million each for their projection. MLBTR says the people on the list are not slam dunk non-tender candidates. They just made up a list of people with at least a 10% chance of being let go in their estimation. The Braves just outrighted Andrew Velazquez to the minors (to the surprise of no one).
The Mets continue to be very active in interviewing candidates for their managerial opening. Yankees bench coach Carlos Mendoza and Cubs bench coach Andy Green got interviews. The Astros are now showing interest in Craig Counsell. Why not? All the cool kids are doing it.

I predict we lose the chance for a perfect 2024 season within the first week of the regular season.
my 2024 prediction!
39-123. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
I’ll take the over
I hope the Dodgers sign Ohtani on Nov 6th, so that puts an end to the constant never-ending articles and posts about where Ohtani will go, saying the same thing over and over again. And hyping it like we’ve discovered intelligent life on Mars.
The media would be furious. They would be like “crap, now what are we going to talk about for the rest of the offseason?”
I hope him signs on Nov. 5th.
Get it over with even sooner!
Anyone want the Nov 4th action?
Well, he can only sign with one team before Nov. 6th
Thank You WCC!!
Thank you for that fact injection.
Spending a ton of money on SS’s works apparently
2023 WS Champions Texas Rangers…….Corey Seager and Marcus Semien. Relievers doesn’t however, Raisel Iglesias, Carlos Estevez,

I happened to see on Reddit a pretty funny post where someone was saying goodbye to their favorite GIF because it was now obsolete. I laughed when I watched it, I hadn’t seen it before.
I’ll just post the link here, because I couldn’t figure out how to embed the actual GIF (especially at work)

Well they are our sister franchise you know. And it’s not 55 years it was actually 63 years if you count the first 8 years in Washington before the move.
Another Halloween in the books, another MLB in the books.

Congrads to the Texas Rangers for winning the World Series. The Rangers represented the American League and its Western Division admiralty. The right team from Texas won.
The AL West has a Navy?????
You know how them Texans can be
I didn’t know Marcus Semien was in the Village People…..

Yes, Bochy is the Captain, but Seager is just a Seaman.
Does that mean Bochy is now First Lord of The Admiralty?
angels not gonna sniff the playoffs in a decade so the ultimate cope is becoming an AL west fan.
This awful 2023 season is now in the books. I’m hoping Arte is in meetings today to sell the team. I know that’s a pipe dream.
Good morning, World Series is finished with, and we are happy it’s done.
It was not a good World Series, it’s not because the Rangers won as much as the Wild Card system of adding three Wild Card teams maybe exciting can make for a boring World Series and especially as the World Series is MLB showcase. Texas was clearly the far and away the better team with a line up good to great hitters. Arizona gave the Southwest a glimmer of hope winning game two but was out classed all the way to the last out of the last game.
MLB has been hell bent to copy the NFL in its way that de-emphasizes having two leagues, having the two leagues mirror images along with inter league play. Attendance was way up this season proving that Rob Manfred made the right calls in rule changes. The rule changes included a time clock, bigger bases, and eliminating the “shift”.
The idea for so many Wildcard teams is to add some excitement by creating pennant races to the end of the season, which no doubt works. Arizona got Hot at the perfect time. The Diamondbacks 84-win season certainly did not make them the best representative for the National and more over the Major Leagues as a whole. So small market team notwithstanding, the 84-win team really did not really showcase MLB at it’s very best, along with the series being very boring and Ho-Hum.
Trying to copy the NFL in having so many WC teams does not work, the fact is the World Series is not a one and done day. So I will leave those here and those in New York with entertaining the thought of decreasing the Wild Card teams to only one or two teams, not adding more to the mix.
I agree. This current playoff system simply does not work in baseball. It’s too many teams and is somewhat confusing. It’s much more like the NBA or NHL than NFL. But I don’t think it works in baseball.
Next big thing is Ohtani and his Qualifying Offer.
At least a reasonable chance he could accept it.
After all he will only be half of a player next year.
Deadline for teams to issue QO’s this year is November 6th. The deadline for players to accept QO’s is November 14th
Last year the Angels signed Tyler Anderson to a 3 year deal on November 16th which was right before the players QO acceptance deadline.
3 year deal on November 16th, which live in infamy.
Haha. What’s the estimate on the QO for the upcoming season. $20 million-ish? Why would he take a 10M pay cut? To lay groundwork for another Lifetime “heartwarming comeback” movie?
105 days until P&C report to S/T…HALO POWER BABY.
As of the final out last night we are tied for first place!!
What’s our magic number ?
For making the playoffs or being eliminated? `;~}}
Lol. With 2023 now in the books, doesn’t that mean we are “logically” eliminated today for 2024?
To be fair, last year they got all the way to July, before they were pretty much eliminated/dead. Usually it is in May that we know they are toast!
