LA Angels Wednesday News Crash: Texas Arizona World Series

Good morning Angels fans! Have some links!

Angels News

Hey who wants to be a strength and conditioning coach for the Angels? Because they are looking for one. Hopefully one that will do their job for once.

Yep rumors are true. Buck is a candidate for the next Angels manager. It might be what he will do now.

How is the fall league going? Well, Davis Daniel is doing well.

Around Baseball

The Sneks won the NLCS! The most likeable team and constant trading partner with the Angels have made it to the World Series! It is not only just the 3rd all WC World Series, or just more proof that beating the Brewers in the playoffs means you get to the World Series, but it means that Mad Dog is retiring! Unless he is a lying liar who lies, which he likes to do, since that is what gets people to hate him. Anyway, he is gone forever, see, even Wikipedia says so.

Phillies prove they are indeed a Philadelphia team by being sore losers.

Rangers and Sneks now have the worst combined winning percentage of a WS matchup in MLB history and the worst in all 4 major sports since the 90’s!

Anything I missed? Post below for upvotes!

Let’s nominate and elect a 2024 Halos manager candidate from one of the regular posters on here. They just gotta listen to us……..right?

Listening to The Sports Lodge today ( AKA Arte’s propaganda network) Trent Rush suggested this guy as a managerial candidate: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skip_Schumaker I guess he isn’t happy with the Fish organization since his boss Kim Ng is leaving because she was getting demoted. the more I think about it I kind of like it. He’s still young ( hes about the same age as Josh when he took over the Angels) but had a terrific first year as a manager while he would be happy as a local guy coming back home.

Holy shit I would love it if one of the tuck jobs on this site actually became the strength and conditioning coach for the Angels. Then we could see if just bitching about Arte actually gets anything done.

Speaking of “Blame Arte” time…. I am still trying to figure out how Arte’s evil infiltrated the Padres org and destroyed them.

“The Angels ascended to World Series immortality in Game 6 last fall, a magical game that forever defined a team, with an unprecedented comeback that cannot be compressed into a single image.
On that night, one hero would not be enough. On that night, when defeat would mean an empty end to a glorious season, the Angels spotted the San Francisco Giants five runs and 19 outs. In a century of World Series play, never had a team facing elimination overcome so large a deficit.”

https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2003-mar-30-sp-gamesix30-story.html

This may be behind a paywall, but this article describes the most amazing game in Angels history, from the perspective of the players. I was at that game, and I will never forget it. I will always be an Angels fan.

All day long we have been slobbering on ourselves about 2002.

Where’s gitcho to tell us that we’re all pathetic CtPG guy losers.

As he is so often to do in his alien speak ass hat way of doing it.

I can’t explain why, but every time I see the word ‘Sneks’, I chuckle. It’s always funny, like monkeys & midgets.

Is Davis Daniel going to turn into a bonafide starter in 2024? Does he have top shelf “stuff” or is he yet another guy with middling talent that must pitch above & beyond his natural tools to be successful – like Barria, Saurez and countless others?

Doubtful but might be an effective swinger

It’s a question about pitching… so the correct answer is “I have no idea.”

When I offer an opinion/answer a question here, I know I am doing so as a fan, not an expert. Isn’t that what this site is all about?

If only expert commentary were allowed, this site would collapse from lack of qualified posters. You included.

The Cardinals just acquired another infielder named Kennedy.

Do you think they’d accept Adell instead of Edmonds?

about one HALF season sounds right.

Buck’s team always win it right AFTER he leaves, plus it aligns with the B2B mojo of DBacks-Angels pennants.

Carroll reminds me so much of a young Trout.

I imagine 2012 Mike doing what Carroll did last night in a Game 7 – leading a victory with 3-4, 2 RBI, 2 SB, 2 RS and catching the final out.

And to think he was drafted a spot after we took Wilson. Yikes! Then again, we are the Angels and we might have hindered Carroll’s development anyway

I’m rooting for the Dbacks, because I know it will give the Doyers-loving Sports Media a heart attack that their beloved Doyers may not get Shohei after all considering their own lowly, division rival won the WS over their anointed Shohei-destination Doyers.

This is what baseball has become. You would rather have Ketel Marte than Trey Turner. Moreno instead of JT Realmuto. A guy at closer you traded for because he was an extra arm for the Mariners instead of the entire Phillies bullpen. Jerry DiPoto has to be kicking himself.

Sometimes logic doesn’t totally apply. And the same guys who are postseason stars one moment — Turner— become postseason has beens the next. Trey’s at bats in the last few games were lousy and really hurt the team. He couldn’t even move runners.

Sounds like the Angels? Yes. So the script can flip. There is always some hope.

Trea and JT’s team didn’t win a division either. 2nd place. just like the Rangers/Dbacks.

But the unknown nondescript good players have always had a tendency to take center stage in baseballs post season.

Look at 2002 , Scott Spezio hit .327/.424/.600 with 19 RBIs in 16 post season games despite a career OPS of .747

Angels had a lot of those in 2002. Adam Kennedy. The short SS whose name I can’t remember. Bengie Molina. KRod. Lackey. Good for them.

Of course they also had Glaus, Salmon, GA etc. who all came to play.

It truly was epic.

I have a 16×20 of GA’s bases clearing double signed by GA in gold pen in my room. I realize it wouldn’t have happened without the Spiezio bomb but it is my favorite.

And we wouldn’t have won Game 6 if Erstadt didn’t homer and Glaus didn’t drive in those final runs with that double. BTW, I have a signed copy of GA’s double too. 😀 Not in gold pen.
