Sucks to have a negative headline on a night when the pitching did well for 8 of the 9 innings.
Griffin Canning threw 6 innings of 2 run ball. I think we’d all take that on a consistent basis.
Ben Joyce threw absolute gas for an inning with over half his pitches at or above 100 MPH.
Andrew Wantz pitched a scoreless inning.
The problem was that Texas pitchers combined to throw nine scoreless innings. They weren’t only scoreless, they rarely had any drama whatsoever. Angels hitters had 3 hits through the first 8 innings and only 4 total base runners to that point.
So when Charlie Sheen gave up a 2 out, 2 run shot in the top of the 9th to extend the Rangers lead to 4-0 the game went from over to really over. The Troutian length shot by Marcus Semien that followed to push the lead to 5-0 was rubbing salt in the wound.
With the Cardinals losing earlier in the day, the Angels needed this L to have a chance at the 5th best odds in the lottery. The bats did their part to keep us in that race. Esteves went above and beyond.
Off day tomorrow then the final series against Oakland over the weekend.
Let’s lose the next three!
66 players used this season. That ties a record set last year.
Fletcher points out that Dominic Leone hit an appearance bonus tonight as a Mariner. That partially adds to the Angels cap space. Nice work
We’re back in the Tank again!
Eat it Jerry’s
What day does MLB
fixrun the draft Loto machine thingy, with the frozen envelopes?Don’t remember, is this done out in the open for all to see? Or is it done in a dark back room in NY City making it easier for them to give the Mets the #1 pick?
By the way, we have clinched finishing worse than Cleveland and the magic number to be worse than both Pittsburgh and Detroit is 1. To clinch the 6th spot the number is 3. We won’t catch StL
To match last year’s record we’d need to take two of three vs Oakland.. I hope don’t. That would change our lottery odds. Last night I had to run it 18 times until we came out with the top pick. I don’t want to have to run it 22 times or whatever
Silseth is projected to start on Friday. Anderson should start Saturday. No idea who will be SP on Sunday; it could be bullpen mishmash.
I thought Anderson was shut down
I thought too but no internet to check
Operation shut-down
You are right. He is on IL. So, Rosenberg will likely get the start Saturday
The tank is in ELITE mode
