Good morning Angels fans! Have some links!
Angels News
Mike Trout is back! After missing a long time, he is back! Sure, this is his 3rd season in a row missing at least 40 games, but, he is back now!
The Angels sent Adams down to make room for Trout. Maybe he should work on his defense…
ESPN is picking on the Angels again. Deserved though.
With an ERA of 6.66 the Angels are pretty demonic.
Around Baseball
Wander Franco was put on Administrative leave. He might never play again. Especially as it gets WORSE all the time.
The White Sox fired their GM and VP.
Baltimore is rich but acts poor. Typical owner.
Who gets hit the most? Mariners. Angels in the top 10.
Anything I missed? Post below for upvotes!
I’ve already written off the first game
Reverse psychology at full force.
Hope the tax man will let us write this off
Neto to start baseball activities on Friday per Nevin
Didn’t he say the same thing about a week ago?
I didn’t have the chance to ask him
Velazquez again. Not chasing a win this afternoon
No Moose, probably his scheduled game off. Distinct possibility that Trout will not play today. I know Reds starter is lefty, but I was hoping that Schanuel would be able to play the first game to neutralize the bad taste in his mouth fresh from his error, which must have battered him mentally last night.
Yeah should have thrown him back out there. Again where Nevins managerial style doesn’t seem to make sense. Like when he pulled Regnifo that one game for being lazy then played him in about 30 straight games. What does that say to the other guys
As I ramble on about nothing lol
But, those are things we feel passionate about. That is why we are called fans, short for fanatics.
Schanuel’s face looked ashen to me after that error. Affected him shortly after with Drury’s throw which he should have caught in short bounce.
The thing about Rengifo is that he has amazingly short memory, which can be advantageous and harmful. He keeps on chomping on his gum after making an error as though nothing happened. He is so unpredictable. Today, I hope he is unpredictably excellent in both at bat and 2nd base.
This site sure beats the therapy we all need
LOL! 2nd game that Trout is back and he’s on the bench already.
well they need him healthy for playoff push.
Fletcher posted this before the lineup was out:
This post pretty much guarantees that Trout will not play both games today. If he plays, he will play the first game since Reds starter is lefty with Moniak’s August batting slump.

Second game
Nevin not chasing sweep, thinks Ohtani will only give up 1 run and we lose 1-0
Lineup just posted. Trout not in it.

Rushed him back too soon?
Inepet Medical staff?
Dr Nick called into question?
Angel Fans Shocked! 😨🫣
My two favorite plays of the year.
The Triple Play rates as the top play, fantastic. Second is the no look catch by Renfroe early in the season. And third, about a half dozen of Neto’s plays in the field. 😃
Triple Play was awesome.

And last is the high hopper fielding whiff by Schanuel that singlehandedly cost us last night’s game.
Nothing in the game of Baseball at any level drives me bonkers more than errors, both physical and mental. Right up there is issuing walks, BB, Base on Balls. So, with watching Angels pitching in the last two seasons have you noticed that our pitching seems to issue a lot of walks? Well, at least this season we are right up there at #28 in MLB in issuing freebies. Our pitchers are taught to use their breaking balls as the pitch to use even as an “Out” pitch. Our pitchers are #25 in allowing runs scored. We seem adept at walking lead off batters, so of course with having very poor fielding just leads to the Angels playing catch up baseball.
All winning teams that show up in the Playoffs have pitchers that can throw strikes, but not so with the Halos. Opposing teams have their batters lay off pitches just to look for a mistake or a walk. Based on our pitcher’s norm, why try teaching and then staying with something that does not work? Our pitchers have a hard time throwing a strike over the corner of the plate, but sure can groove a pitch over the middle.
IBB, we lead all of MLB by a lot with 32. We are a team of Wantabe’s and cast offs. Injuries may be part of the game, but we sure do know where the IL is.
Went on my first cruise over the weekend and got caught up in the hurricane. It was alot weaker then I was expecting.

BTW, if you ask me (No one did) we should seek to re-sign Moustakas for two more years as “Depth” due to our yearly scramble to have an everyday 3B.
Also, unasked, I think we should pursue Tucker as he is a lefty and call pick it in the OF and he’s an Angel killer, so you got that taken care of a well. Since we won’t be signing Ohtani, Tucker, Moniak, Ward, Trout and Adell? Can cycle through the OF and DHing like Anderson/Salmon/Erstad/Edmonds did successfully. This would help keep Trout healthier ass he could DH twice a week.
I like it, but I think tucker stays in houston.
Kyle Tucker is also Orioles killer; he would have been AL MVP if it weren’t for Sho. He is paid $5 million this year while Joey Gallo $11 million for hitting measly 0.180.
Kyle has 2 more years of arb, and if Houston is serious about him, they will extend him off this season. Michael Brantley is FA, and Yordan Alvarez signed through 2028 with $115 million x 6 yrs.
Too much pressure on the guys. They won’t start hitting in clutch situations until they are mathematically eliminated. Nevin does not game manage very well
They hit enough last night; defense gave away two runs. Giolito did all he could.
I was talking about 7-8-9 innings. Yes without that error they win but some teams find a way to win we find a way to lose
Plus pinch running instead of pinch hitting Moniak was a mistake
So Nevin dodged a bullet last night bringing in Loupy, but the next time Loup is brought in a close game it won’t work. BTW, Lopez is looking like a keeper.
Until Lopez reverts back to his lifetime 4.38 ERA and 1.302 WHIP.
Typical free agent year improvement in my opinion.
I don’t come on the site much nowadays as I’ll just be trite and negative. I will always be an Angels fan, but this collapse brings back painful memories of that 13-game lead implosion many years ago.
Oh well, go Halos!!
1995 was about 1,000,000 times worsyer than this. This is planned, highly visible and predictable misery while that was total buttercupping
All part of the trAdition 😀
From the Funny Stuff Department. If the Angels have had a winning team for 25 straight years and in year 26 were upside down by 6 games, we would be elated. Having the same General Manager for 26 years that is successful would be a dream for all of us, but not Yankee fans, no siree Bob, they want a new GM and a new Manager, who has only won 100 games in a season 3 times without until now anyway, a losing record. Like the Angels, injuries have ravaged the roster and winning comes at the expense of drafting late and so now the cupboard is bare. Sound familiar? So, Boone the manager has lost 6 more than he has won this year and fans are calling for his head, well Sinatra and Billy Joel can keep New York, but we would take Cashman for a VP job here and Boone for Managers position if they get cut loose. It’s fun hating the Skankees and Mets and their fans.
Alden Gonzalez writes a great piece on the Angels and Arte; he covered all the bases of the team in the last 12 years. How many of us through the years have said the same things and thought we were keeping it too just ourselves. It’s out there now, Arte has collected stars like baseball cards, robbed the team of recourses in some areas to covers the cost of his wild ideas and really has not cared one iota about the Angels as a whole and has driven the bus with no destination plotted.
Gonzalez glosses over upper management a tad, but the real problem has been Arte himself, we’ve been saying this for years. 5 General managers that never had been in that position prior to the Angels, 5 Managers, 4 of whom sucked (Sosh will always be #1 in the hearts of many) and payrolls that have been some of the highest in the game.
Also telling is the huge amount of time that Mike Trout has missed because of injuries, “scheduled” days off, and just not wanting to play. (BTW, until I heard Nevin say scheduled days off, now every team uses the term. The Rays used the term for France recently trying to avoid his sex scandals.). My fondest memories of trouty will always be the greatness achieved from 2012-2016. In retrospect Trout sure has missed a lot of baseball with Ohtani and him playing with each other.
How to fix the broken franchise? Build a solid core in the front office, terminating all the dead weight in the positions above the GM, and I do mean all. Perry Minasian seems to have his head on straight, with a vision and knowledge of how to build. Time to bring on the very best people into play at managing the different departments while being accountable.
Arte needs to get a suite and watch games being played and just stay away. Trout needs to change whatever routines he has to ones that work at keeping him in playing shape. Maybe time has come for a change in gloves such as a First Baseman’s glove.
Shyt or get of the pot backfired with keeping Ohtani and trading some kids for some short-term help. (Maybe Lynn would have been a better choice) But something had to be done and someone (Arte) made the call to go for it. More than half here thought they made the right choice.
By the virtue of the power of ownership, Arte wants to stay, so be it, but I wish the team would sell and rebuild, because what has been the normal for 14 years has not been working and won’t work down the road either. It will take time to rebuild with the big contracts to work around, but rebuilding the Front Office is a great start.
Arte’s impulsiveness – which is referenced in the article- is a major factor in all of this. Exactly why with an owner like him the team needs a POBO who is empowered to make key baseball decisions. It won’t happen because Arte won’t allow it but it would make a difference.
Instead he has surrounded himself with yes-men stooges. That and impulsiveness is a very bad combination.
I believe that Perry has more leeway than his brethren had.
You are free to believe what you want. Everything goes through Arte.
Backfired shyt is the worst.
I understand this is Major League Baseball and that giving an opponent an extra out in an inning is a bad thing but I’ve never seen a team completely fall apart after an error as much as this team does.
Who are the Angels going to add for 27th player today? Most likely relief pitchers. Choices are Herget/Marte/Mederos/Reyes/Rosenberg. Weiss and Ingram just pitched and also had blown saves.
Might as well put a golden ticket in a game program and let one lucky winner come out of the bullpen today. Can’t really be worse than picking one of those guys.
Weiss was DFA’d so he is no longer on the 40-man roster. Andrew Wantz is also available to be the 27th man.
I meant to say Wantz, and he had blown save on Sunday.
Angels PR department read our mind.

Seeing DeLaCruz with my own lylin’ eyes from center field last night … he is as advertised. Great speed and instincts. Fun to watch.
I wonder if he can lead the Reds to more than 1 playoff season over the next decade or so?
Lefty on the mound for Cinci, so I’m guessing that Phil goes this route:
SS – Rengifo
DH – Shohei
CF – Trout
2B – Drury
1B – Moose
C – O’Hoppe
LF – Grichuk
RF – Renfroe
3B – Escobar
Need a shut down AND pitch efficient effort from the GOAT today.
Wow. That article about Moreno and his impulsiveness is really insightful!
Loved the quote about having players like this but being cheap on scouting and player development as ‘owning a MacLaren that you have serviced at Jiffy Lube” 😃
Yeah, impulsive Arte is likely to spend $30 mil on Bellinger
https://www.mlb.com/angels/news/dan-haren-asks-shohei-ohtani-for-signed-jersey-in-letter
Here’s the letter. LOL, Dan still hasn’t lost his sense of humor.
I read somewhere that after Sho selected the Angels in 2017, he wrote a hand written letter to all GMs of 6 MLB teams (Rangers, Cubs, Doyers, Giants, Mariners, and Padres) to express his appreciation for their spending time and efforts to recruit him. Even last year, I recall Rangers GM expressing how impressed he was with Sho when he received the letter. Perhaps Dan Haren was aware that Sho would be moved with a hand written personal letter.
I wil say it again. The Angels and particularly Arte do not deserve Ohtani.
I read this tidbit on Japanese newspaper this morning. So, I anticipate Japanese media will ask Sho on this matter after he pitches today.
I love and miss Dan Haren. He is one of my favorite Angels.
Did/is Shohei sending him one?
On October 2 once the season is over. (no source)
We know you’re out there 5th Starter!!
He’s gassin’ the gooskins.
