Another day, another blowout loss. I have a planned power outage tomorrow and not being able to watch this team is more like a blessing with how badly this team has been playing. Watching today was going to be painful even before the game started. All August things have been falling apart as each loss drains what little energy is left in this Fandom.
Today it is trade deadline disappointment Lucas Giolito on the mound. And he pitched 6 innings giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, striking out 5 and walking 2. Yeesh. That we had Lorenzen last year and was available for cheaper this year really stings when he’s been just so much better. And Giolito also got out pitched by Jordon Montgomery who was also a trade deadline deal. Maybe it is the culture? After all, players keep doing worse when they arrive here.
Anyway it didn’t matter how well or not the pitching went since the Angels bats have been dry ice cold as of late as no one pitches to Ohtani and everyone else just can’t do squat at the moment.
Whatever, here are the few highlights for the Angels.
Highlighted Recap Copium
Luis Rengifo knocked on the a run in the 5th to not make it a shutout.
Randal Grichuk hit a 2 run bomb in the 9th to make it 7-3 Texas.
That was it. All the positive plays in the game. Angels lose. Again. Bleh.
I can’t believe that in the same season that we went for it and were buyers, I’m going to start monitoring tankathon.com .
Good grief, those Mets and Padres, what on earth are they doing way down there. I know others have posted this…. that those fans probably have it harder than we do. They were actually expecting championships… we were just hoping to not suck.
The Cards have unusual suckage too. They aren’t used to that.
yea I feel sorry for those fans.
Outscored 42-11 over last 5 games by my count. That’s no good.
Good MMA record though.
Hard to be an Angels fan or worse, GM . It does seem like every pitcher we get who is supposed to be good, turns out lousy. Then they leave and do well like Lorenzen, Cobb, even Heaney. Hint, pitching coaches suck. We got the prize deadline arm Giolito, and of course he sucks. But if he went to Dodgers next year he will be magically awesome, it just always works out for those fks. Just like they get totally washed hitters like Heyward and Perralta who become productive. We tried to get better this year with Renfro, Ursella, Dury, but all got hurt and/or don’t show up during important at bats. Anderson’s a flop, Walsh and Fletcher can’t hit anymore. Finally Trout and Rendone injured. All this just turned out to be a recipe for disaster. Only bright spot Ohtani, who is a free agent. When he leaves only diehards like some of us will still be loyal fans.
Kiyo will be gone and rooting for the…..? (likely Dodgers).
I will still be here cheering for the Angels and (hopefully) new ownership. That said I will also support Ohtani and hope he gets a ring. He is as fantastic a person as he is a player.
I will be honest…. last night it had been a long day and I was tired…. I started thinking I should bail on all of this and find another team. I’ve been a fan since the 80s, and I don’t follow any other sports, but at the same time this has been long stretch of losing years and I think it will continue for at least 3 more.
It sucks to get all excited when the season is starting every year but then feel there is no excitement by the time August arrives.
Just root for a new owner. I know that that is not necessarily the solution, but really is our only hope. As long as Arte owns this team and continues to trivialize scouting, developing players, and the minor leagues (while empowering his crony clowns), this nightmare will continue. Let’s just hope that this disappointing season leads to his finally deciding to sell the team for real.
I agree with this. I do have a hard time believing that as long as Arte is owner, that somehow something will change and we’ll suddenly do well.
He’s had Trout and Ohtani and couldn’t capitalize on that!
Most GMs would go nuts with a leg up like that.
Padres are demolishing the AL best Orioles tonight and will probably win tonight. Padres will be 6 game below 0.500 and 5.5 GB WC3. Their playoff odds by FanGraphs have gone below 20% with recent losing streak, but it will go back up above 20% with tonight’s win. They still have realistic chance for playoff spot especially with recent struggles of Giants and Diamondbacks.
Pads worse this year than Angels, have so many Star players on a team that was good last year, only to regress. Glaring holes at 1st base and worse DH. One move that would have put them over this year would have been if they got JD Martinez instead of old washed Cruz and Carpenter.
All they need to do is play really well x 4!

This is the inevitable time of season before football begins that I start to watch Doyers game just to remember how fun baseball can be when played and managed correctly
I used to post on the Angels’ page on the ESPN website in the early 2000’s.
I’m really glad I found this blog.
Same – I posted there and on the MLB page for the Angels back when they had a message forum.
Wait, we didn’t win?
They’re going to have to change that other fan site to Angelscan’twin.com
I did a Google search today, “Why are the Angels so bad?” It brought up news articles going back as far as you can imagine. The best article was from 2011.
It has to get worse before it gets better…
Hold on folks, we’re just getting started.
Started doing what?
FYI runs scored in the last five games by Halos — 3, 3, 2, 0, 3. And several of those were late inning stats padding.
Runs given up: 11, 11, 1, 12, 7. Terrible differential.
You cannot make this up. It’s getting worse.
So what team will Giolito be signing with in the off-season? To have it be the Angels would likely require a discount. He hasn’t exactly been like Greinke way back when.
I think it all depends on how far we get into the postseason and how much $ ohtani signs w/ us.
🤣
You said Depends…. that’s what we fill with waste every game. 😀
Don’t know if GPB will make it through out the night.
Gives these back to him.
Seriously this may be the post of the month/year!! 😎
Who the fuck wants to Come To Texas?!
And I hate the elevated center field camera angle at this stadium.
All of our corporations?
except pace picante.
ok, we are the 10th best team in the AL. 5 are worse, 9 are better.
Hard to believe there are 5 teams even worse than this lifeless team.
It will be an interesting race between MFYankees and Angels who will lose more at the end.
Those 5 teams are Oakland and the AL Central other than Twinkies.
It’s possible Cleveland will pass the Angels.
Well at least runs were scored tonight and only 1 error.. you have to look for the positives in times like these
