Angels Hate NY After Agonizing 9-3 Loss

Angels fans suffer, but as we look up north at Oakland, we know it can be worse. Still, it is not fun to lose as often as this team has and it is tempting to just remanence of the past. I am sure we all remember how often the Angels used to beat the Joe Torre Yankees. Well, these Angels are not those Angels and now trips to NY are not nearly as fun as they used to be.

This was most evident in the very first inning, as Patrick Sandoval gave up 5 before everyone finished lunch. It wasn’t his entire fault, as only one ball was truly crushed, but he was way too wild and inefficient to be blameless. Sure, it was only one bad inning, but it was really bad, and he only lasted 4.

Not good pitches
He did fan 5 at least

But even if he did not have a horrendous inning, this was not a good game by the Angels, as yet again the offense seemed to be craving seafood with how many LOBsters they ate. Sure, it was against one of the best pitchers in baseball, but you cannot fail time and time again, even if some can be blamed on agonizingly great defense in CF for NYY.

Highlighted Recap

Angels got into a 5-0 hole in the first due to bloops and walks.

Bruh

Angels tried to score in the 4th, but CF defense for NYY was too good.

Angels finally scored in the 5th, so hey, no shutout.

5-1 NYY

A sac fly made it 5-2 but it could have been more if it wasn’t for more defense in CF.

Could you NOT?

Logan doubled in a run in the 7th to make it 5-3 NYY.

Catchers who rake

Well, any sort of hope was dashed after some more LOBsters and a 3 run 7th by NYY to make it 8-3 NYY.

Oh and then the Angels gave up by putting Loup in. He somehow only gave up 1 run. 9-3 NYY with only 3 outs to go. Yeesh.

To make matters even worse, Logan hurt himself. Yep, he got his 3rd hit of the game and was taken out with a bad shoulder.

Upcoming

Yeah, Angels lose badly and are now under .500. A big L all around.

Well, Angels go back home and face KC. Star Wars Night, with Ohtani on the mound, maybe that will be a good one. I will be there, will you?

Some info on O’Hoppe injury.

Never had any problems with it before. This team is cursed.

I think this makes me feel a little better about the prognosis. Shoulder popping out of place sounds better than feeling something tear/rip. Although I wonder if this could be something that is a recurring issue that pops up throughout the year, pun totally intended.

I can’t imagine Joyce would be any worse than Loup. I also can’t imagine that Bachman or Silseth would be worse than Suarez.

Phil Nevin told reporters before Wednesday’s game that Suarez will remain in the rotation, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

The Angels will allow him to make at least one more start — Suarez is scheduled to face off against the Athletics next week — but another disappointing effort could lead to a change in the rotation.

Probably with a short leash. Silseth needs to be given a chance if Suarez stumbles….again.

Three words. Hit. The mascot.

Coupled with the fact that I don’t think the guy has thrown back to back nights since Jr college. Joyce is a fine boy and love him don’t we all…. but he’s not the answer for anything right now.

pure anecdotal , saw him in spring, st patricks day.

Dude is the real deal. But I can see his brain melting under the hot lights of Bally Sports West.

His fastball, everyone knows. His slider is actually good too. I think in a year or year and a half he could be a FIERCE closer for us. Like serious top 5, Chapman, Kimbrell in their prime type guy. Just not right now.

I mean, imagine that STUFF…. but with a plan and the ability to execute it? I don’t want to waste that chance because boo hoo I don’t like Aaron Poop in mid-April. That’s what losers who can’t develop players do.

Loup needs to get gone. Ward looks like he’s stuck in between. Rendon struggles to hit a ball to the warning track in left. Eleven walks

Dude, i’m usually pretty optimistic I would say…

Just, things are not looking great. Plenty of season left. Only one game under .500.

But it’s clear we still can’t compete with teams like NYY. Pitching just ain’t there.

Like I said, plenty of season left tho!

yeah it’s great we get KC/A’s and coming home but if we issue 11 fucking walks in each of those games we will go 0-7.

Royals and A’s are 7-31 between them. They are awful.

Sweep the next two series at home against those teams and in a week the team will be 6 games over .500 and there will be 4 shufflebots.

If the Angels go 6-1 or 7-0 over the next 7 as they should- the season will look a lot better.

* the other side of this is that if the Angels go 4-3 or worse over the next 7 then it’s time to worry a bit because the schedule gets really tough.

I just call it as I see it Jack. The team has played pretty terrible and uninspiring baseball, has had a fair amount of bad luck and it is only one game under .500. They are about to play two really bad teams which they should take apart. If they do, you never know what might happen. Am I happy with the way the team is playing, of course, not. Do I find it painful that it seems to be the same story year after year, of course. However, I am neither pessimistic nor optimistic. I like to stay more towards the middle and one game under 500 is not the time to start pulling the ripcord . Again, if they keep playing like they have played thus far, then there won’t be much hope. But in the meantime, I’m not ready to completely give up on this season.

The A’s are 3-16, of course one of their 3 wins is against us. If we can’t go 6-1 this home stand then… idk. We can’t be happy to just take the series.

Must’ve sucked to been an A’s fan the last 5 years: 97-65, 36-24 won West, 86-76, and then tanked their way to a new stadium at 60-102, 3-16 and without even the help of a 14 game losing streak! We weren’t even tanking and hit 14, so there. Well at least we aren’t the 13-7 pirates, 1st place Dbacks, 14-5 brewers, or 11-7 orioles… never mind. Wow does every single shitty team get good except us?? Cubs still suck right, I mean the 2016 WS feels like a lifetime ago. Oh 11-6. Well it’s fine it’s still early, 9-10 is just fine. We got the 7-31 royals and A’s coming up what can go wrong?

There we go. THIS was a true piece of crap game. Just about everything sucked all along. If THIS was a normal game for the team I’d go all Doom Donkey and declare that the season is pointless on April 20th. We’d be sure 90 game losers. Bring up the kids…. in May.

Yeah. That was crap. Turd the page. Win some games. Some players please do better more often. The season will be better if you do.

Speaking of poop. Maybe we can get some of the guys around here to sad donkey power the Angels into getting their stadium efforts botched (cause can’t have Arte pull something off and be happy about it) so that the Angels can move somewhere else like the A’ssss.

This loss was pathetic. Almost as sad as Oakland. all of it. Just Oakland.

Perfectly normal to swing and collapse in pain, twice, in about a week.
I’m sure it’s simple. Maybe a tweak in diet, bone-less, skinless chicken breasts, more fruits and vegetables, cut out dairy and nightshades. Start weight training with low weight, high reps and deep knee bends…..or, it’s some fucking mystery ailment that will require replacement TJ shoulder surgery 4 months after “he gets a 3rd and 4th opinion’ and spends a month at the “Utah Shoulder Rehabilitation and Sleep Dysfunction Center for the Lactose Intolerant”….expecting the worst.

It must be Arte, he’s been the only constant all these years of amazing crap luck. It’s obvious. All the other owners are great guys and real baseball men while dad is such a jerk. It’s Arte. He’s the constant. He’s the problem. He’s Jonah. Look no further.

We have seven in a row at home against KC and Oakland in the next seven days. Let’s see what our record is a week from now. Nineteen games is not enough to draw final conclusions about any team. If we were one game below .500 in a 19 game stretch in mid-July, nobody would be too concerned.

Growing up watching this team, I don’t remember many times that they’d walk in runs. It was a rare occurrence.

The past couple of seasons it’s a regular thing. You expect it.

Sad little team. Tell me, did Loup pitch scared again? First month of the season is where mighty champions are forged! It’s terrifying in April! Can’t believe they didn’t laugh his ass off the team after that comment. But of course they couldn’t because they have nothing to replace him with. Oh well, no biggie. Same going thru the motions halos.

I doubt it happens just yet, but he’s sure digging a hole that’s deeper than his ladder at this point. Soon, if not already, comes the in person meeting where Nevin declares Loup needs to “show him something” or some such coach BS and then Loup knows the DFA fairy is circling his head.

Biggest issue, nobody in SLC is really demanding a call up yet, especially not a LHP. Maybe Austin Warren, even though he’s RH? Move Suarez to the pen, Canning to #5, DFA Loup and bring up Silseth for spot starts? Bring up LHP Ingram from RCP? He’s on the roster already I think….

Or hurr durr Joyce. If you are wondering of our development guys are all still moonlighting at Bo Jangle’s you’ll know they are if we bring up Joyce now.
