Angels Cannot Hold Lead, Win 8-6 Anyway

Goodyear is home to blimps and an AL Central team in the Cactus League. The Angels are looking to have a good year and for that to happen, the depth needs to play well. For today, that would mean Chase Silseth. The young arm already has MLB experience and looks to make the team this year.

A few other guys need to have a good year this year, like Walsh and Drury, both also did well today to bring hope to the fans. Both hit home runs and look to bring length to the lineup as well as positional flexibility.

But, there is one name that will bring dread if he makes it, Holder. And guess who pitched today? Yep. There is one bad arm in the bullpen every year it seems…

And yet, somehow, someway, the Angels still won today. WOW.

Highlighted Recap

Walsh started the scoring early with a 2 run big fly in the first.

Looks like 2021 Walsh

Unfortunately, Silseth allowed one right back in the bottom of the inning to make it 2-1 Angels.

I prefer Taco Bell

But besides that, it was a decent outing for Silseth, as he went 4 innings and left with the lead.

6th starter material

It was a lead that wasn’t held for long, however, as the next pitcher, Jordan Jones, allowed 2 in the 5th, giving up the lead on one swing.

That was long gone

Well, two can play at that game, and Brandon Drury responded with a 2 run shot of his own to retake the lead.

4-3 Angels

All the Angels had to do now was hold the lead. So they turned to Holder-and it’s now 6-4 Guardians. Hoder gives up 3 and couldn’t even get out of the inning in the 6th. Dude. This is what, the 4th time he blew a lead this spring? WHY?!

COULD YOU NOT?!

As it all looked to be over, the Angels bats did not give up, and in the top of the 9th, came back to get 4 runs and retake the lead! It was now 8-6 Angels with 3 outs to go.

What the?!

The Angels shut the door and won the game, surprising everyone.

Upcoming

The Angels are now 11-5. No game tomorrow, but one on Thursday. With the WBC and March Madness going on, it is a busy time right now.

I should have posted this yesterday – but I’m stoked about the starting rotation depth pieces this spring. Any of Davidson, Canning, Silseth could be a perfectly fine 6th starter – and that all three look good is just icing on the cake. If someone gets in a funk, call up the next guy.

That said, I’m really pulling for Canning. He showed flashes of brilliance when healthy in the past, and his pedigree is such that he was expected to be a rotation anchor when drafted.

Davidson is out of options, so I fear he’s the guy going to get the first crack at the spot, and while I don’t hate that – I’d prefer another righty in Canning/Silseth.

Also, haven’t even discussed Barria – who could be that guy too.

Kind of nice to see this embarrassment of riches in the rotation after years of struggling to put together a competent starting 5.

Lastly, if/when Shohei leaves via free agency we know that we have arms to cover his starts who aren’t awful…

Le sigh. Hope they resign him…

The people who stress out over winning St games would have been way less stressed if the great Tucky D had been pitching. Still, it looks like Silseth wants a job, though I think the aforementioned ace apparent Tuckulus Maximus and Griffin Canning are both probably ahead of him on the charts. You know who looks like he wants a job? Rossenburg. Killed Kenny, Quesadilla and Loup may be an underrated pile of lefty relief.

Obviously Taylor Ward is broken beyond repair. Stupid not real baseball Perry. But it’s good to see Drury and Moniak still looking like they are closer to game ready. It gives me an easy peaceful feeling to think of guys like Lamb, Padlo, Moniak, Soto/Neto lower down the depth chart if we need em down the line.

It’s also less than 12 months old. Your jabs are like marshmallows at a tank.
Just give it up dude, because you have no game or talent. I’d come right back at you, but was told I have to be nice to you. Do better next time, but remember you still have to follow the community guidelines.

IIWPM? Is it coming soon? Is it full of game and talent? We can’t wait! We’re all gonna see how real baseball you are and anyone who suspected you’ve been a clown turd this whole time will be able to rest assured…. this Tootie is not full of shit.

We have like what, ten days till games start? When will you publish? will there be charts? graphs? video? Farhan porn? Can. Not. Wait. To. See. It.

Which after Arte increased the payroll by almost $50 million from last year is exactly the point, Twofus

So Quit wasting our time with your archaic inane diatribe.

You should have posted Bo Porters asinine 2023 Spring Training opinion so it looks like you pay attention to the current season.
Serious Question
When are you going to contribute your own ideas with facts instead of recycling those of TV talking heads who don’t follow the Angels or playing the “guess who this pic is” hindsight 20/20 game?

John is the post game master.

I was able to watch the last four innings. Fun finish to a spring game.

Caught just the end- fried my tile saw and decided to watch the game instead of driving over to score a new one. These farmhands look, dare I say, scrappy? Gritty? Never-say-die?

Trying to make a 28″ long cut down the middle of an 8 x 48 porcelain tile. Stalled out and wouldn’t restart. Ordered a bigger one. Got three more rooms to do, then I’m finished.
