Here is Mike Trout hitting off a tee. I hope he got a participation ribbon. Shohei Ohtani is ramping up for the WBC as well.
Matt Andriese is back from Japan and he got a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Braves signed Yolmer Sanchez to a minor league deal and he’s apparently a non-roster invitee to their spring training camp. The Mariners re-signed Taylor Williams to a minor league contract while Nate Mondou got his minor league deal with the White Sox. The Mariners and Kyle Tyler came to an agreement on a minor league contract while the Reds signed up Jason Vosler, also to a minor league deal.
Chad Green got a major league deal with the Blue Jays for two years at $8.5 Million. Diego Castillo lost his arbitration case with the Mariners. Oops! It looks like Chad Pinder is going to the Cincinnati Reds.
Assault Player of the Week
Khalil Lee of the Mets is now under investigation for domestic assault, specifically “criminal obstruction of breath.”
Baseball Book
Some of you read baseball books pretty avidly. This one is about Ken Caminiti.

Yay, the site is fixed (except I only see 1 out of 48 comments)!
We’re going all the way to the WS baby!
Weekend links gone?
Yes, sadly we lost them but Jeff is recreating the post at leat.
Matt Duffy off the board, dammit!!
Old news as I think this may also be: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/02/angels-have-shown-interest-in-elvis-andrus-michael-wacha-gary-sanchez.html
On cheap 1 to 2 year deals, absolutely. Fills a short term solution at short and solid depth for the rotation and catcher.
Buried in the sourced article was also this little nugget from Jon Heyman:
Time to rejoice and celebrate?
Hope for the best for Rendon, but let’s see if he makes it to 50 and 100 games and hopefully close to a full season. At least Perry got plenty of 3b/2b depth with a sprinkle of experience in the OF and SS.
Best depth on paper they’ve had in a long time.
Wacha would be a great add as well. Give him the second year and be done with it. Stopgap insurance if Shohei splits.
Will this be the year they can get Trout & Company to the playoffs?
Why add Wacha to make 15-20 starts & likely get the same production as the MiLB in waiting?
If you can access , the Blumster did a good analysis of those Milb options in todays athletic: https://theathletic.com/4147713/2023/02/02/angels-mlb-rotation-spring-training/
Maybe this kind of explains why the Angels are trying to still acquire a 6th starter than outside the organization
Canning and Daniels are each likely to outperform Wacha this season.
He used up his supply of shamrocks and what not last year.
That’s cause he’s loaded up on pain killers?
Is that the new ‘best shape of his life’?
I definitely recommend the Ken Caminiti book. I did an interview with the author here:

Per SportsLogos.net the Angels will have a jersey sponsor which will be revealed this weekend.
I’m gonna buy a hundred of whatever it is! (subject to approval)
Purdue Pharma?
FTX
It’s just “WM” now….
Qantas?
Chico’s Bail Bonds
Irvine Auto Center!
What? Replace that singing sign commercial?
Howards!

BANNED!!!!!!
If we are being honest, it’s likely a Japanese company. Who could pass up the chance to have the biggest sports star from your country wearing your logo in a foreign sports league.
And the stadium is already covered in Japanese brands.
For only one more year
Who knows what can happen in the next year.
He would if he was our first baseman next year but I think its still Walshie.
714-TICKETS
How’s it going, DG?
All is good. Been busy AF since July. Far too many 12-14 days at work for my liking.
Knott’s Berry Farm?
F*** the old site. Every year around this time, I go over there to read the thread from when Mrs. red passed away. The comments from that thread always made me feel better. They’ve killed all the old comments! And this being the tenth anniverary (in March), I really needed them. F*** SBN.
Sign someone Perry!
I know. I was gonna say, I’m bored. I also demand a champion and I want to see rabid commitment to my emotional needs from ownership. Thus the only acceptable move is to sign Trevor Bauer.
It makes sense. I’ve been on Halos Heaven/CtPG long enough to know that nothing arte does can make him more cheaper or more eviler than he already is. The entire world hates him because he’s the worst ever. So what’s the harm in signing Bauer?
Ohtani
Bauer
Sandoval
Anderson
Detmers
Suarez
Arte is a true piece of shit because he wouldn’t sign DeGromm or Eovaldi or trade for Castillo. He should just embrace the fact that he will never not be evil and sign Bauer so I can eat my champiham sandwich with extra mayo. Then he should be totally transparent and release a statement that says “I signed that good pitcher you all wanted. Go fk yourself.” Wishes fulfilled.
Or you could just say what Wally said.
Exactly, Grich-frere, exactly. Because Arty is the hero CtPG deserves, not the one it needs right now. So we’ll hunt him, because he can take it… by signing a talented but reviled right-handed starter to a team-friendly contract that may divide a fanbase but will certainly improve our chances of a postseason appearance. It would be an act of love.
Imma go ahead and caption that photo:

I really did hear “….NO DICE” in my head when i saw the links lead photo. 😆
Thoughts going through Trout’s mind as he hits off tee…..
“Only 10 more days til the Superbowl”
“Fly Eagles Fly!”
Is it weird that, now that no one I care about has any skin in the Super Bowl and my team is long long out that I just want the Eagles to win so Mike Trout can be happy and Cowboy/Giants fans can be sad?
We want a happy Trouty, fresh from the taste of victory (Eagles, WBC) and hungering for more of the same.
I was looking forward to Gubie and Victor trash talking each other on Twitter. So far, nothing.
The Athletic’s Power Ranking came out today. Dodgers are a little lower than normal (7). Angels middle of the pack. I just don’t think the Yankees are 2. I don’t know these things as well as most of you but something in me tells me that Judge isn’t going to hit 62 (get juiced balls) this year.
What? It’s not that the MLB made sure the juicy ballz were at Yankees games. It’s that Judge is so huge that the extra gravity he creates dragged the lighter juicyballz closer to him and they ended up in games he played in.
I actually kind of feel bad for Judge. Seems like a good guy on a douche team. He worked hard to hit those 62. He was likely under the impression that he accomplished something through all that effort. But now he finds out his dad influenced the outcome. That sucks. I’m sure it will always bug him since he only broke the record by 1 dinger. “So what? I really hit 58? 59?” Bummer.

Yanks looked high to me too. Nobody is looking forward to facing that lineup, but it isn’t exactly a 1-9 of all stars.
If you had to live in New York you’d be high all the time too.

It is sad, really.
I tend to expect better behavior from MLB players than their NFL counterparts. Primarily because it takes two parents with at least one heavily involved in daily life to succeed at baseball.
That’s not the case with football.
