Gotta hand it to Dipoto (and the Mariners owners). He had a vision and he was allowed to execute it. It took awhile, but he’s finally seeing the fruits of it.
I don’t know about a vision. That whole team was bought except for Rodriguez and couple of the starters. Many of his trades where gastly. Shake the dice enough and you can get lucky.
But Rodriguez, Gilbert, Raleigh and Kirby are legitimate centerpieces. Kelenic still has time. And because he built the farm, he was able to trade for Luis Castillo.
There’s nothing wrong with “buying” players if you can and are allowed to. That’s what’s rich owners are for. For years, Angels fans have been begging Arte to spend money.
He got the man he wanted to manage the team, and stuck with him.
He was allowed to run a team the way he saw fit and it has paid off, so far.
Buying players – exactly why you build a strong farm system – so you have some house money to play with come trade deadline. Look at that pitcher they got from Chin-cinnati. Key player in setting the tone for this series yesterday when he threw up several zeroes and kept Toronto team/fans out of the game.
so just one game tomorrow. These games are brutal for the losers.
Good for the Phils, catapulted in the standings after they fired another Joe, Girardi.
Happy for Marsh!
Indeed. And Thor.
Albert Pujols’ reign of terror has finally ended.
But 10 more service years.
Bye bye cards. Enjoy retirement, Pooholes.
Nothing I love more than win or go home games
I would hate to see a pitch clock in these games, the tension between pitches is what makes the games special
I agree, but i’ve also heard nothing but rave reviews from the minors
Should have thrown some off speed pitches to grandpa
Big AB for Albert here!
Where was that Marsh as an Angel? I see he has changed his batting stance…for the better. Guess it pays to have a competent batting coach.
I didn’t know Eric Chavez was the Mets hitting coach. Good for him.
I remember when we were all convinced he would succeed Scioscia before they hired Ausmus.
How bout those M’s?!
Shit
Thought it was gonna be a GIDPujols but alas there were already 2 outs.
Love the way A-Rod says “Poo-Hose” hahahahah
sounds so disrespectful
Tonight could be the last game ever in a great career for one Albert Pujols….
that’d be ok
😂😂
He still has that personal services contract with Arturo.
I wonder what happens if/when Arte sells the team???
Real glad that when it was 8-1, I didn’t gloat. Whew.
I gloated. Icing on the cake for this shit sandwich season.
so in the AL, it’s gotta be Cleveland
I’d rather see the Yankees win it all before Houston or Seattle…
But yeah, Cleveland is preferred.
I am rooting for the Yankees.
Perv
BAM! Grisham…yard.
Good author
Good game! 2 for 2 today.
1 for 2 in terms of rooting but yes 2 for 2 in terms of qualifying as a good game
Agree, just good playoff intrigue
Houston vs Seattle is just the worst possible series to watch.
ugh…yeah, I hadn’t thought about it. Toronto vs Houston would have at least given us a team to root for
Yessir
Houston is seriously good. They will move on.
Sweep
I guess we root for the underdog
Nope. I can’t root for the Mariners against anybody,
Passive indifference it is!
I root for the lesser evil.
At least we get to see one of them lose!!
True
Congrats to the Mariners.

Only the 2nd playoff series that the M’s have won in their history, if I am not mistaken.

Zach Lee for Chris Taylor was ghastly.
