The Angels faced the Mariners for 2, a doubleheader in Seattle. It was rainy, but that is why they have a roof and why the stadium formerly known as SAFCEO is a pretty nice place to catch a game.
Patrick Sandoval had game 1. He went 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits, striking out 5 and walking 2. He was back being the pitcher that he was needed to be, giving the bullpen a much needed break for tonight.
Offensively, the offense was better than last night, with more runs and hits just through the first 4 innings than all of yesterday. However, they only scored a measly 2 runs in 9 innings, which almost led to their downfall.
however, extras exist, and Mike Trout loves hitting in Seattle.
Highlighted Recap
Things were mostly quiet on both sides until the 3rd, when Sandy gave up a solo shot to put the Mariners on the board. It was just the second one he gave up this season.
Thankfully, the Angels responded right back with 2 runs in the 4th. 2-1 Angels!
Patrick Sandoval did great, going 6 innings and allowing only 1 run.
However, the game got tied up in the 7th, as the Angels bullpen blew it.
At least the Angels weren’t losing?
The game stayed tied as the Angels’ bats did squat but the back end of the bullpen shut the Mariners down. It was Extra Innings time!
Luckily for the Angels, they had Mike Trout, and he loves hitting in Seattle.
And Jose Quijada came in for the save… for some reason. He sent the Mariners down, however, getting the save!
That is an Angels win, game 2 starts at 6:30 tonight.
