The Angels faced the Mariners for 2, a doubleheader in Seattle. It was rainy, but that is why they have a roof and why the stadium formerly known as SAFCEO is a pretty nice place to catch a game.
Patrick Sandoval had game 1. He went 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits, striking out 5 and walking 2. He was back being the pitcher that he was needed to be, giving the bullpen a much needed break for tonight.
Offensively, the offense was better than last night, with more runs and hits just through the first 4 innings than all of yesterday. However, they only scored a measly 2 runs in 9 innings, which almost led to their downfall.
however, extras exist, and Mike Trout loves hitting in Seattle.
Highlighted Recap
Things were mostly quiet on both sides until the 3rd, when Sandy gave up a solo shot to put the Mariners on the board. It was just the second one he gave up this season.
Thankfully, the Angels responded right back with 2 runs in the 4th. 2-1 Angels!
Patrick Sandoval did great, going 6 innings and allowing only 1 run.
However, the game got tied up in the 7th, as the Angels bullpen blew it.
At least the Angels weren’t losing?
The game stayed tied as the Angels’ bats did squat but the back end of the bullpen shut the Mariners down. It was Extra Innings time!
Luckily for the Angels, they had Mike Trout, and he loves hitting in Seattle.
And Jose Quijada came in for the save… for some reason. He sent the Mariners down, however, getting the save!
That is an Angels win, game 2 starts at 6:30 tonight.
Why was Sandoval taken out? Loup is straight up garbage and needs DFA’d or traded for a bag of balls somewhere.
the lineup is out. Nevin playing to lose. Against a righty, no Walsh, no Marsh. Lagares, Duffy (hitting 4th), Rengifo (5th). Maybe McKinnon will hit 3 HRs.
Would be nice if Big Mac hits some Jacks!
Marsh is hitting .190 in his last 7 games with15K’s, so maybe he needs a day. With MacKinnon starting at first no place for Walsh unless you sit Ohtani.
I forgot to mention during the 10th inning, when I was able to pull in reception from Seattle, the Mariners announcer was waxing about how “dominant” the Mariners relievers had been, saying “retired 13 in a row!” and then boom. Ha!
How great was it that the guy who caught the winning HR was rocking a Trout Uni. Well done. I hope he makes the national highlights.
Last season my son and I went to a game in Arlington. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of Angel fans in attendance. We almost outnumbered the Rangers fans. Unfortunately for us, we went to the only game in that series that the Angels lost.
[sarcasm font]not good enough. should’ve won 10-2. oligarchs and stuff.[/sarcasm font]
If we’d scored 10, we would have anything left for the nightcap
With only those 4 we still might not.
I could see us come out for Game 2 and put up another 1 or 2 run performance.
JHW, I’m always so impressed with how you get the game videos.
Wow!

Wow! Is right: we all thought Trout would get a game off after being the only offense…again. Also, who’s David MacKinnon?
Here’s all I know but he never plays anywhere other than first base now. https://twitter.com/TaylorBlakeWard/status/1537958629919166465
Thanks, Cowboy.
Does this mean Walsh is injured and will need Tommy Groin surgery, out until mid-2023?

Crack each other’s heads open…”to feast on the goo inside.” My bad.
Interesting, against a RH pitcher. Walsh must be not feeling it.
Just another warm body that really is not needed.
I like those Mariners unis
Pretty clean
Agree, Tigers looked pretty good today as well..
I thought Trout connected in the first better than 10th, go figure! Light that baby up
Amazing that Trout can go 0-for-26 or whatever it was, and his OPS is still 1.030 right now.
Correction, didn’t realize this is a 5 game series. They can take 3 out 4 for tonight then 4 out of 5 for the series.
LTBU
Good win in extras for a change
Let’s take 3 out of 4 with the night capper in a few hours. Go Halos
Praying Phil does not make over the line-up. I’d switch out the catchers and middle infield, everyone else stays. Mariners have yet to announce their pitcher.
Agreed, Stassi for Suzuki and maybe middle infielders get swapped. Duffy’s bat needs to stay in there along with your Superstars Trout and Ohtani. Thinking that’s why Ohtani rested the other day to be able to play both games today.
JeDi’s BFF shoulda IBB’d the GOAT.

now we need to keep going, win tonight and tomorrow.
Angels Win!
