Shohei Ohtani got the start and gave up a lead off homer to confirmed cheater George Springer. That gave the Blue Jays a lead they’d never surrender.
On the night, Ohtani pitched 6 innings, gave up 5 runs, and struck out 10 Blue Jays.
The score would’ve been worse if not for another stellar defensive play by Brandon Marsh.
An apparent run was taken off the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth when the Blue Jays successfully challenged a ruling that Matt Duffy had scored prior to the third out being recorded at second base.
Jaime Barria followed a shaky 7th inning by striking out the side in the 8th. He gave up a bomb in the 9th to make the score 6-2.
A little 9th inning rally tightened the score to 6-3.
Between Texas and now Toronto it’s clear the Angels struggle against teams wearing blue. Let’s hope that’s no longer the case when we play Seattle and LA.
The Angels are 4-6 in the last 10 games, the world has not ended. It is a long season of ups and downs. The Angels have a 71% of making the playoffs according to Fangraphs. Who knows what will happen but let’s don’t be self-loathing Angels fans. I like the old community rules of Halos Heaven when Rev ran the place (“complain once and then move on” or something to that effect”). I complain, we all complain, Angels fans complain, baseball fans complain. But when all you do is complain, it gets old. Baseball should be fun.
Last 10 (4-6) games Angels are avg 3.9 vs opp 4.8. Pitching has gotten worse and offensive has been avg and not indicative of the rest of the season. Halos were playing north of .600 ball so yeah it doesn’t look as good now. BP pieces are coming back soon and Ohtani needs to mash. Rendon needs to get going or this will already look like the typical Angels I-told-you-so contract (you know the names). The offense needs to get going early. Get ’em tomorrow. LG!

Actually, we should try focusing on this game, discussing it in depth, maybe drawing detailed artist renderings of key moments, for six, maybe seven days. Maybe that’s what’s been missing all these years, NOT turning pages. Will the team win tomorrow if Maddon yells and screams about all the things that went wrong in one of those losses to Baltimore a while back? Couldn’t hurt to try it and find out.
Tomorrow night they should rebroadcast this last game, have some old fart from a past Angels team we can’t get over explain each mistake in great detail. I feel a winning streak coming on.
