Angels Coach Mike Gallego Talks with CtPG

I randomly ran into Mike at IHOP a few weeks ago. Well, my Goddaughter literally ran into Mike and he was very nice to her and my son. We started talking Angels and he agreed to an interview.

Here we talk about everything that is going right with the 2022 Angels, including his specialty the infield defense. I hope you enjoy the chat and want to thank Mike for his time.

Seriously don’t know how these entirely baseball related articles don’t get more people to comment. Apparently no one likes talking baseball

Jeff are we still having issues with the medical staff? Did Fletcher have hip or hernia surgery?

Great interview Jeff. Gallego Looking good for 61. Good to see an old Whittierite doing well with the Angels.

But what’s the sense of going to IHOP with our ordering the Swedish Pancakes?

Thanks for the excellent interview and hoping for more to come.
This brought me a little closer to the game and the Angels themselves, and I appreciate it. That’s not easily accomplished these days amidst all the organizations legal and criminal issues.
Made my day.

Gallego is a very likeable fellow and that is always good to see.

Very good Q&A and was good to hear about a lot of positive things going on with Trouty setting examples and mentoring the youits. The chemistry is there as we fans can see after every Homerun and seeing the excitement after great plays. Confidence will only grow with the Angels as they keep winning series. If on every home stand you provide the opportunity for a coach, player, front office or even owner to be interviewed maybe it will become more of a thing that the team will appreciate the fact you are not there to ambush anyone.

Refreshing to hear that the team is getting along that well. Not something we had heard about in many previous seasons. Not surprising about Trout and when he gets to the ballpark.

Jeff, thank you for taking the time to do these interviews. I am in class right now and will definitely listen to this on the commute home, but every time you do these interviews it is also a treat.

I know this might be reaching, but I would love if you were able to interview Taylor Ward and talk about how he was a meme at first and now has risen to produce at a similar level to Mike Trout. If you are able to do that, you are truly the GOAT haha.

That is great to hear. I have noticed that whoever is running the digital media department with the Angels has prioritized reaching out to the community in Twitter, blogs, Instagram, etc and invited them to suites frequently. That is really cool to see and refreshing. Also, the game presentation at the stadium has also improved greatly, which I have been very critical at how boring the experience has been for years. So I’m ecstatic to see these changes happening along with on field success so far.

Things like the “Name that Song” clips are helpful. The in-game experience still has a long way to go to catch up to the M’s or Padres, but it’s better than it was… baby steps.
