This ESPN article is about how minor league contraction “turned out mostly better than expected.”
Jered Weaver, John Lackey, and Huston Street all join the Hall of Fame ballot next year.
Fox fans believe Shohei Ohtani should be on the cover of MLB The Show 22.
Panama walked it off against Puerto Rico in the opening game of the Serie del Caribe.
MLB will allow players in the minor leagues to remain unvaccinated but managers and staff who have in-person contact with players must be up to date on their vaccinations.
Here is what Yu Darvish’s slider looks like coming in.
The League and the Players are at least tossing out numbers on the minimum salary issue.
Former Mets reliever Jeff Innis has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 59.

It was on MLBTR/The Athletic that there “still” haven’t been extension talks with Ohtani. Did I miss something? He’s an MLB player right? so we can’t?
We also have what? 2 years to get that done? And wasn’t he on the cusp of leaving as soon as he can now that he and his mother have seen first hand the evil and cheapness that stalks the halls of 2000 Gene Autry Way and plus also he said he prefers to win? How does paying him 30M a year before we have to while still needing so many other holes stuffed help with all that?
This is the type of stupid shit I expect from a fan post, not Sam Blum.
Will we ever have a new or renovated stadium?

The Las Vegas Angels of Las Angeles….
My evil dream of watching a politician proudly announce the building of a “tech center” and a pile of 400K$ blocky condos for “the poor” instead of keeping one of those gross patriarchal sportsball teams is inching closer to the edge of the bed.

Ba Da Ba Ba Bah….
Very few of the 43 teams that lost MLB affiliations will be around when the money line provided for the new leagues vanishes. Glad to hear that slight few teams are staying afloat.
Keith Law’s Top 100:
19. Reid Detmers
60. Sam Bachman
I always divide into group of 30 since there are 30 teams. So our #2 on Keith Law’s list is like the worst of everyone’s #2. Luckily a list like that is meaningless. Performance will tell us where they all belong.
Well we can hope that Bachman turns on overdrive.
And Hopefully he won’t just become another page Turner
Let’s hope at the very least he’s takin’ care of business
When it comes to takin care of business, You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.
And when he’s on a roll while pitching, he’d better Let It Ride
The name Bachman always makes me think of another band. Guess which?
But he was a first baseman.
I agree. It means the top end of our system is at least decent, particularly since the top 2 Adell and Marsh just graduated. Makes me feel okay about what is currently being done.
Hey M.L., Glad to hear you’re seeing a lot more blue skies these days. I’m looking at these rankings in more of a half full kind of way myself. Keith Law actually has our top prospect Reid Detmers at the 4th best overall pitching prospect but the no. 1 best LHP prospect in all of baseball . While Bachman is only ranked 60th overall. He is already Law’s17th highest pitching prospect and 2nd highest pitching prospect (behind Jack Lieter) from the 2021 draft. Not bad for an organization that’s been bereft of any legitimate minor league pitching talent for about a decade now.
We have two pitching prospects in the top 100? This is truly a bizarre world.
I’m still hanging my hat on Luke Murphy being a bullpen catalyst too. He’s not going to make any lists, but he’s exactly what we need.
So what number is the plumber?
Look in the White Pages!
He didn’t even make the appendix.
February 1st has always seemed like a line in the sand with me. Like if the owners and MLBPA had a good framework in place by Feb 1st there might be a regular Spring Training. Each day after that decreases those odds.
Well it is here tomorrow. And there’s no major progress.
meh.
i know what you mean, but “a regular Spring Training” to me is one without Covid protocols and where fans can watch practices in February before game start.
Even if there is an agreement tonight, i’m afraid it’s going to be a “covid protocol” Spring Training- minimized fan access.
We need to get an agreement. And also get out of these covid protocols.
I love walking the back fields, too. I didn’t get any spring training last year so I’ll take what I can get.
Also, just need to take Dad to a Cubs home game and I’ll have hit them all with him. I definitely want to complete that.
yeah i’ll take what i can get. last year i went to two games. and paid to get in.
this year, it looks like a similar situation – and if the season is delayed, who knows where. Honestly IF there are games here, the way things look, it’ll be a brief slate.
Yeah, I had plans to go this year, but they’re not even selling tickets.
One of the highlights of the year is when you post your first pics from Spring Training.
Ohtani is on the cover of this years MLB The Show.
Interestingly enough, the Angels tweeted about it/showing him on the cover. Wasn’t aware they’re allowed to do that during the lockout.
Anyways, I tested positive for covid yesterday so a week off of work at home for me! 3x vac has me feeling decent still, still scary with my kids/wife at home (and. youngest too young to get the shot).
Stay safe, ya’ll.
Get better soon. You should be good Vaxxed x3. Buddy of mine in a similar situation isolated from his family and wore a N95 for 10 days around the house. As a result none of his family got it.
Ditto. I caught it last summer after 2 vaxes (before they authorized the booster). I isolated in my room and wore a mask and gloves when I went out. Miss UCSB didn’t catch it from me thank goodness. Felt like a bad cold for the first couple of days, and felt fine for the rest. Thank the FSM I had the vaccine. I’m high risk, and I hate to think what would have happened to me otherwise.
After two years of treating positive patients my wife finally brought it home and gave it to me.
Pretty sure it was Omicorn because we are both triple vaccinated and it felt like just a really bad cold. Didn’t even lose smell or taste.
Headache and sore throat were the worst parts.
Since we’re all sharing (which I’m going to say is cool as long as we’re sharing personal stories and not getting into political stuff)
I tested positive between Christmas and New Year’s. Had nothing more than a stuff/runny nose for two days. I thought the nose thing was due to cleaning out my fireplace and fire pit without wearing a mask. Was fully planning on going to Muay Thai class, stayed home out of respect for my training buddies, and was shocked when I was positive.
Only have the one JnJ jab. Had to be Omnicron. Worst part was isolating away from my family.
There’s political stuff around Covid? Well that sure is news to me, buddy. 😉
You should be able to go get boosted with Pfizer or Moderna if you want, can’t be too careful.
If I would have had to isolate from my partner it would have been hell. Luckily we just had to hole up and DoorDash good food for a week while binging shows.
There are worse times to be at home than college football bowl week ha ha.
But staying away from my little dude was tough. Fortunately I took a lot of time off between Thanksgiving and Christmas to spend with him and we FaceTime’d a lot.
“Headache and sore throat were the worst parts.”
Basically all I have right now, thankfully.
I thought there was a subwoofer in my head. Best of luck, Brent
I had Covid 2 years ago in January before we had really heard about it. I came back from Vegas and was really sick for two weeks and felt bad another two. Since I’d had a flu shot, I wondered what the hell. I was never tested, because it was unknown then, but I donate blood every couple of months and a number of months later I noticed it said on my blood donor report, Covid Convalescent Plasma – positive/high. I asked what that meant and they said it meant I had had Covid.
Get well soon. Hope your symptoms stay mild and the wife and kid stay safe.
My Bride caught Omicron and I dodged the bullet and tested twice clear. Moderna x3 either works or I being Irish got lucky. My wife was similar to the rest of you with having symptoms of a cold but lasting 6 days. Happy to hear no one from here at this point getting real sick. .
Even though I’m not a Patriot’s fan by any means, thanks Mr Craft & Bill for giving #12 a opportunity for 6 SB titles.
Thanks Mr Kroenke for staying out of Les Snead & Sean McVay’s way and allowing them to do their jobs. WHEN YOU DO THAT WINNING AND SUCCESS HAPPENS!!
😡 😠 😢 💪 💪 💪 👈
Put that on a t-shirt 🤔
Yep, Craft paid for the video cameras, disguises for the video guys, a team of guys to decode all the illegal video, the ballboys to deflate the footballs, and even the victims of sex trafficking he exploited.
What an owner.
Few others……but they are not the only ones who cheat.
Mike Tomlin attempts a tackles, when his defense can’t.
https://youtu.be/xbf_NtYoE1c
The Spygate controversy was also initially explained away as a documentary by the Patriots.
Tomlin made a mistake, owned it, and never repeated it. Much more than can be said about the Patriot or Brady.
Just being a smart ass about Tomlin…any opportunity I get to with the Steelers I take it.
Being a Browns fan, I’m certain they aren’t smart enough to cheat.
I get it. I’d make fun of the Browns, but they’re the Browns.
Thank you for mentioning the institutionalized Bostonian cheating as sported by the Patriots.
but originally crafted by Red Auerbach.
If you aint cheatin’ in Chowdland then aint tryin’
EXACTLY.
Noticed nobody here is ostracizing Stan Kroenke and the Rams, only the Patriots. They have no cap space and have totally sold all out to win right now (unheard of in the NFL, but not MLB, see the 2018 Red Sox or the 2020 Lakers in the NBA). I absolutely believe eventually the day will come when the bill for their current success will come due, but YOLO……….
Because as far as we know, Kroenke and the Rams haven’t cheated, much less cheated repeatedly.
So now you’re saying that Arte was right to go all in to sign Josh Hamilton?
Pushing all your chips to the middle of the table is a lot different than a two decade history of cheating and lying.
You are a truffle pig in finding things to whine about. But I do enjoy your contributions nonetheless. I would never cancel your voice.
You just think it’s comical!
So does this mean you’re going to stay out of our way now?
You have every right to think stupid thoughts……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Don’t forget the cheating, That helps too.
I’m not trying to be George Costanza, even though you might think so!!
“In a meeting with the Players Association on Monday, Major League Baseball deputy commissioner Dan Halem said that MLB is willing to lose games over some of the outstanding issues the sides have, people with knowledge of the talks said…..MLB owners likely see this as a scenario where losing some money now by canceling games is a lot better for them than potential long-term losses if they give into the players’ demands.”
I think this is a big miscalculation by both sides regarding the impact of a delayed season on the fans.
Just like the noble Lemming, the fans will come back. They always do.
Anyone remember what this commercial was for?
The Apple Macintosh?
I think you may be right…
