Here are various reactions to MLB scrubbing all the player images and articles from the official sites. Who needs players anyway.
The Angels for their part have done a pretty good job of scrubbing all the player names and images from their site. Be sure to show up April 8 for “Historic Season Bobblehead” night. It looks like I am not going to be able to link to any coloring pages after all.
The Angels are serious about contending according to Beyond the Box Score.
Jeremiah Jackson strikes out quite a bit, but when he hits a ball it often goes far.
There will be a major league Rule 5 draft, just not right now. Meanwhile, the Angels selected a pitcher named Kenny Rosenberg in the minor league Rule 5 draft. The Angels made no selections in rounds two through five of the draft.
The Orioles signed catcher Jacob Nottingham to a minor league deal. Pitcher Brooks Kriske, recently released by the Orioles, signed with the Yokohama DeNA Bay Stars.
The Cubs signed Stephen Gonsalves to a minor league deal.

Wake me with Alex Curry is playing.
Only if it’s strip poker.
….hit me.
Also, I just got an email from the Angels that they are hiring for a bunch of different positions, in case anyone is interested.
I’d love to be an usher once I’m in my later years.
Can You pitch?
He said usher not peanut boy
‘Ush up, you!
I got a call yesterday from my new Angels ticket rep. I told him I definitely am interested in a package but not until the CBA gets handled. I don’t think he knew what I was referring to. He told me to call him in a couple months and I said no, call me when the CBA gets signed and we’ll talk.
I politely suggested he keep a file of anyone else that tells him the same. Then reach out after the CBA. He didn’t seem to get it. We’ll see if he calls.
Maybe you should have told him, “Call me when the lockout is over”?
Pretty sure after you hung up he asked coworkers when the Chinese Basketball Association Season is over
Just cause someone’s got to be That Guy…
Gonsalves to the Cubs! Come on Billy, I mean Perry! Stop sitting on your hands and grit all in to the do what ever it takes and just get it done!
“Historic Season Guy” and “Guy With Fish Name” wondered if “Person Whose Name Rhymes With Tendon” would be ready to go at the start of the season.
Anybody else find this bizarre? Not mentioning player names seems a pretty silly tactic.
The MLBPA would sue their a**** off if they didn’t do it. There is currently no CBA, so the MLB doesn’t have authority to use the players’ likeness.
That’s a great point. Thanks for the clarification.
I still think it’s a bit silly but I definitely appreciate the perspective.
Good morning, reading yesterday’s post I saw that there were some grades for PTP in his GM job. Perry had to hit the ground running after being hired. He was able to fill in a whole lot of holes rather very well. Until the month of September came an expected crash with having the Asstros on the schedule for a lot of games. Having to grade PTP after the first year is easy as I will pass him with a solid B. Got us a closer, found a lot of pitching in his first draft, signed Capt. Jack and The Goose. Suzuki was a weak signing though. He never gave up finding cheap pitching that would maybe work out. Rolled the dice with some success on Cobb and Raisel as Bundy crashed and burned. Over saw Ohtani doing Shohei things. He was at the helm with Marsh and Adell showing up and making the tough call to insert Walsh at 1B and saying goodbye to Albert early.
Now finding a starter and SS is up next. This coming up draft in June won’t be easy.
Go Halos.
One thing I’d love for him to do with this “down time” is to focus on stocking the farm system via international signings. We’ve consistently had cellar-level rankings in the system. Maybe Arte’s been burned by too many Baldoquins.
Actually the Angels are spending again in the international arena. According to Fangraphs, 8 of our top 20 prospects were International amateur free agents so there is hope.
Based on Fangraphs horrific assessment of our prospects, I would not be that excited. They sure murdered basically everyone on the farm.
Not sure I really give a shit about what the nerds at Fangraphs think about our prospects.
Yes, not until Eppler came onboard.
Actually I’d say nothing is next while the lockout continues. Resolving that is definitely the #1 priority. Until then, Perry is apparently not allowed to mention players by name much less sign them.
He can make non-MLB signings. I’d also like to see some minors deals and Latin American talent brought in.
Thing is most guys signing minors deals are looking for a path to MLB so they wait until rosters are a little more set.
I heard that this year’s bobbleheads are going to be of that guy PTBNL. He’s in all the historic seasons.
Can he pitch?
Sometimes.
I hope they do one for Cash.
