Good Morning Angels fans. How are you dealing with the lockout? That bad huh? Have some links?
News?
Yeah there isn’t much going on with the whole lockout. Well, Dusty Baker won an award.
Have some Mike Trout stat porn. Seriously, he is still the best. Also have some drawings.

Rays negotiating with Tampa Bay for a ballpark. Well, that is going better than Oakland right now, as the A’s still eye Las Vegas. But not all hope is lost? Also they are still looking for a manager.
Ohtani’s old team signed an MLB pitcher. Perry could have nabbed him, but, alas…
Mets Still looking for a new manager. Some options have come up, and Max wants Buck.
As the MLB HOF voting trickles in, the BBWAA gives Tim Kurkjian an award!
Vlad Jr wins a Canadian award. I am still bitter.
As no player can sign, the rumors about the remaining free agents is all we get. Like how Carlos Correa may have back issues? Will Trevor Story actually go back to Colorado?
We can at least watch Baseball movies. And Documentaries. Or both. (Even though it is fake).
The MiLB rule 5 draft is today. Hopefully Perry can nab some pitchers.
Anything I missed? Please, put it in the comments for upvotes.
I don’t know…this worries me

Holding companies are usually a bad thing for businesses. They run them into the ground, then pass them on to some sucker.
This is all that matters!!! 💪 💪 😆

Looks like we didn’t lose Aquino, Pina, Knowles or Soto… which were the only guys I thought might go.
I guess nobody wants our shit.
Exactly.
But we protected our Junk!
Ty Buttrey… I guess the team still hasn’t cut bait with him yet? Hoping maybe some time off gave him a chance to re-think his career priorities and give baseball another shot?
Fangraphs had a nice piece on the power potential of Angels Prospect Jeremiah Jackson: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/angels-prospect-jeremiah-jackson-can-juice-a-baseball/.

I think any time you can grab a AA arm from Tampa you do it.
Cal State Fullerton kid. They’ll probably give him some run as a starter but those numbers look like solid bullpen depth.
Can he hit HR’s or just serve them up?
Last year Perry took 3 and only one this year. I guess we don’t need minor league depth.
Damm neither has Noah Syndergard!
😭 😠 💩
I like the Photoshop animation of Arte eating a Lunchable while PTP is shackled.

Heres a very bleak view of our farm system, including an implied criticism of Minisian’s draft.
I’m not sure it’s an implied criticism of Minasian. It seemed to me more of a wait-and-see. The author also admits that Fangraphs was wrong on Walsh and Sandoval.
We didn’t draft Patrick Sandoval
Houston did.
Irrelevant. Read the article
Did
We still don’t draft or develop very well. So we can’t take credit for Sandoval’s development. Reid Detmers is being compared to Scott Kasmir……..ugh!!! Hope that doesn’t turn out true.
We can’t take credit for Sandoval’s development? Because we didn’t draft him? What is the logic there?
Sure, Houston gets credit for the draft – then traded him to us where he developed. So, develop points to the Angels – right?
Or is just no points to the Angels ever?
I’m as guilty as you are, but Please Do Not Feed The Troll.
But he looks so Hungry…

If 2002 posts and nobody responds, does it exist?
There’s 30 teams and our farm system has consistently been rated in the upper 20’s for years. We ugly.
This stuff always reminds me, I wish I could find some list of systems ranked by the amount of MLB WAR they have produced over the last 5 years… or the number of players… or number of “good” MLB innings….
I want a good farm so we have trade chips and maybe get a few good players (pitchers) out of it but I am getting pretty convinced that the panting need to have a top 10 farm system is the over bought EV stock of baseball. I bet the top team is still someone like Tampa Bay, but I would like some way to see who is putting out more Shane Beibers as apposed to MacKinzie Gores and Forest Whitleys.
Now that I’m a little older I have just seen so many TOP TOP BESTEST SYSTEMS EVAH (Like Seattle, three times now) produce a big pile of meh it makes me wonder. Maybe some team, maybe even our team, should start focusing on drafting/signing/trading for specific players and developing them like they are Robocop. Specifically have two really good starter prospects, one good infielder and one good catcher you are heavily invested in developing over 2 to 3 year cycles?
Like have specific development guys. Two guys who develop catchers who scout, acquire and then develop specific catchers within the system, four starter coaches that do the same ,etc etc. You don’t have to ignore all the other players, late bloomers, etc but you have a dedicated “skunk works” of guys who run parallel to the rest of the system. Rather than trying to have 8 top 100 prospects you always have 3 and they are at positions the team will need in the near future and these prospects are groomed from the get go to quickly learn what the special development guys are good at teaching, which is tailored specifically to what the MLB team does.
Like the old Kansas City Royals Academy and the 80s St Louis Cardinals astroturf teams did but even more focused from when a kids 18 to when he’s an MLB player.
He already said that about LAD and TB……..just not us.
Cheer Up Marine Layer. I firmly believe The Angels farm system is less gloomy than in recent years past.
Another take on the stadium land deal- https://www.fieldofschemes.com/2021/12/08/18287/anaheims-sweetheart-angels-stadium-land-sale-just-blew-up-real-good/?fbclid=IwAR01E4STFzlpRyO9hVeRCTnIkHh5ai_BbQnS02u6OGkb-wAXmnfksn2Jp5o
Deal will still happen, it will just be delayed by all this with all the renovations moving back a couple years. Arte probably ends up chipping in some part of the fine.
So, new stadium in 2045, not 2043…..we’ll never have nice things.
So if the Angels giveaway tickets in the upper right field view level for the entire season that wouldn’t count against their affordable housing requirements?
Nope, does not count.
What this situation needs is a little JUSTICE!
https://youtu.be/GiDsLRQg_g4
Arte sure gets a lot of “sternly worded” letters from all sorts of people and organizations.
We’ll see what is in the latest one and the options they state presents to
AnaheimArte.Arte should have written some ‘sternly word’ letters himself, to Albert Pujols and about twenty $10M pitchers for not living up to thier contracts
Things I love about this whole topic….
1) PLEASE baby Jesus let this land deal somehow get scoopered by a guy who proposes building a big pile of low income housing on that particular site. I can’t wait to watch various warriors for the oppressed from Anaheim politicians to CtPG guy enjoy getting “what they want” from this situation. The Nashville Angels and a big stack of low income rabbit warrens in the semi-Golden Triangle…. this is the guy who thinks California is running great these days.
2) Guy who is shocked that a major professional sports owner is trying to make more money…. this is likely the same guy who is always shocked and a little scared when he sees a raccoon eating his cat’s food.
3) Guy that is appalled that all of this can be fixed by paying more money to the bureaucracy, who will then surely efficiently use every dollar of the extra money to help house people who can’t afford homes in Anaheim… this is the guy who probably voted for things like High Speed Rail and should probably never look too closely at that project without locking up his kitchen knives first.
If we want a stadium anywhere in California it’s gonna be a dark and gross affair. But of course this time it will be far darker and grosser because Arte’s doing it directly from his throne made of puppy bones. I for one don’t want a govt building the stadium, but I do want Arte getting a sweat heart deal because I want a rich AF owner. But all in all I don’t live anywhere close to Anaheim, so let the clown show begin, I hope I enjoy it, and if the team moves it’s all on a TV screen to me 99.9% of the time anyway.
Look at it this way, if the team moves half of us will finally have a hot wet excuse for just becoming Dodger fans and finally having owners who are magical and all in and shit like that.
First – you are right about categories of reactions by the masses. Most people just react emotionally to everything.- which leads to then being appalled and shocked and posting their opinions on social media boards where they get hearts and likes if they express anger strongly enough. Or they get an angry response coming from folks holding contrary opinions leading to annoying mini-threads with both sides adamantly espousing their opinions usually with poor spelling and punctuation. . It’s just too predictable.
The reality of dealings with the State is that they come in swinging and then go out fairly quietly. Once the lawyers are fully entrenched, they will come up with a settlement that gives Arte and the City most of what they want while the State will get enough to hold a press conference and declare some sort of victory.
Happens over and over and over.
State rejects Anaheim compromise, expected to say Angel Stadium deal violates law
https://www.latimes.com/sports/angels/story/2021-12-07/state-rejects-anaheim-compromise-expected-to-say-angel-stadium-deal-violates-law
So Arte moves the team out of the state, who gets the last laugh then?
He’d sell before he did that. The franchise value is not higher elsewhere
I would.
That way I could say ITYS (Gitch, Cowboy, CardboardGolf, would all have to admit I was right.).. Keep on signing those injured SP’s to one year deals Arte!
Bye!!!

Not sure your opinion really matters because it sounds like you do a lot of stupid things. By the way how’s that IIWP coming?
The only benefit of the Halos moving to another city is I would no longer root for them or come to this blog so would never have to read a single troll post by you again.
Don’t worry either another team will move here or we’ll get a new expansion team. This 75 yr old guy is a terrible GM.
Eh? What are you right about if the team moves out of state? Actually, other than your Captain Hindsight thing, and maybe the idea of looking at Paul DeJung, what are you right about at all? And where are you going?
Ridiculous, I cannot believe I am still in this state.
Yet Sofi Stadium still got built and before that Staples Center.
Nothing was more difficult then trying to get a new or renovated stadium with the 1990’s LA County Board of Supervisors with Antonio Villaraigosa.
If he doesn’t like it here in CA then he should just sell the team and get out.
If Arte can’t reach agreement in the business friendly environment that is California, I dare him to move to the highly bureaucratic states of Texas or Florida. No “real” business would ever leave California.
Waco Angels or the Kissimmee Angels?
Austin Angels
Isn’t this just all because the deal side-step a process review to ensure low-income housing was considered? Artes plan would bring in jobs, entertainment, businesses, drink holes for me, OC chicks…
I think it’s more than a review, the city needs to re-open the bidding process to include builders that will create low income housing options. The other alternative is for “someone” to pay a $96M fine to make it all go away.
Give us money and your problem goes away.
Gotta love the government.
Sounds more underworld to me.
”Nice stadium you have there. Shame if somethun’ happened to it.”
I don’t think there’s much of a difference nowadays.
Florida sports team suck.
Other than the Miami Heat with LeBron they all have crap attendance and no following. Total Band Wagon sports region. Everybody except the Heat has been rumored to be leaving the state at one time or another.
Las Vegas, Austin, Charlotte Angels.
Then you might as well get a jump on it, 2002, and move out of town now to avoid the rush. But Don’t worry we’ll be right behind you.
Staples ( Now Crypto.com Area) was built 22 years ago. Good luck getting that built in LA now.
SOFI was built in Inglewood at the bargain basement cost of $5 Billion.
Inglewood has been very receptive to new development but I’m not sure I would want to visit the Angels play at that location.
Tony Villar was never a BoS for L.A. County he was the Mayer oof Los Angeles but consistent with past experiences I doubt you really care how ridiculous this most recent comment is.
