LA Angels Wednesday News Crash: WC

Good morning Angels fans, as the postseason starts for the other teams, have some links.

Angels News

It will be bare for a while as we wait for the offseason. So watch all of Ohtani’s home runs from 2021.

Actually, here, have some fun looking at Ohtani’s historic season.

Speaking of, Ohtani isn’t the first Ohtani to be in Baseball. Here is the story of the ‘other’ Ohtani.

Around Baseball

Rockies are busy. They extended Antonio Senzatela and CJ Cron.

St. Louis is also getting things done, getting Wrainright his money for 2022 right before St. Louis faces the Dodgers,

Cubs fire their hitting coach. Again. 9th time in 10 seasons.

How was each postseason team built? Not as you thought.

Giants big spenders huh?

MiLB players need to be paid more. The articles will keep coming until pay improves.

Hitting was down this year, but how bad was it? 18 players Mathis-ed. That is hitting like Jeff Mathis and getting 200 PA despite hitting like Jeff Mathis.

Who were the best and worst Umps this year? Of course the bad ones get to call playoff games. Seniority.

Unfortunately, one of the Yankees or Red Sox won last night. So the Rays increased ticket prices for the ALDS.

Anything I missed? Post below for Upvotes.

We went with pitching. You have a problem with that?

Wow, I didn’t realize that Country Joe was WORSIER than Angel Hernandez!

Also, I couldn’t find Doug F***ING Eddings. Or did he retire?

So…. if I want to root for a team that “builds it right”…. the Astros. Nice. Though really, I think there’s a big difference between the trades the Doyers/Skankees make and the trades the Rays make. Go Rays. Maybe if they win a WS they can pay someone more than $25 to poop out their logo/unis.

Pina…. that’s a guy we may see in the pen as next year unfolds, and sending him to AFL makes me think that even more. I know they are developing him as a starter, but if his splitter is getting upper level hitters to make outs he could be useful soon. Pina, Yan, C Rod all seem like they could be involved in a “multi-inning” plan down the line. Marte and Peguero look like they could be shorter stint relievers soon too.

Which leads me to hope they develop guys like Bachman, Marceux, Bush and Albright into starters.

Same thought regarding why they are there. Perry is getting an extended look at some pitching depth/bullpen pieces for the immediate future.

not at all on the Packy train. If Bachman turns out to be a Graveman type that’d be ok.

Do you like to complain about the Angel’s farm system? Well, if you want to be less of an ignorant poop in the Cheerios, actually read the scouting reports in this article. They’re really solid. But more importantly for us consumers, if we want to be able to kind of measure if the farm situation is improving, look at what this guy lists as developmental needs for these players. It will give us something to look at as next season progresses that will tell us if coaching is actually working in our system.

Also of note, The Plumber is Giovatella, not Ben Zobrist, though I still hope the Westmont Warrior gets a chance to prove better this March.

Gitch…. You are so full of hot air and warped logic.

You are the biggest ignorant poop on this thread.

No sir. I am full of warped poop. But hey…

If you do NOT read the scouting reports provided in this article you will be LESS ignorant of what our various prospects need to do to get better and will thus be MUCH MUCH BETTER at gauging whether or not out farm system is actually improving or not. And Stefanic was NOT compared to Johnny Giovatella in this report where it comps him to Johnny Giovatella and I actually hope he never plays again because he did NOT attend Westmont.

…. happy?

Oh yeah. Here. You seem like the “pictures and emojis” type. 💩 💪

Marsh = Blackmon. I bet it was the grizzly look before baseball attributes.

Bachman is born to be a RP. Needs a Kimbrel or a Rob Nenn comp. Gravemen would be a disappointment for a 10th pick.

So they did cave or capitulate for a reliever type draft.
Because they’re easier and have a faster track to the Big Show than a starter.
Always invest high at mission critical positions and don’t go cheap and cut corners.

odd. But then he also said “The league has closed the gap on us. We’ve got to get better in every aspect.” and everyone said “what gap is he talking about?”

As soon as The Yankees pulled Cole in the 3rd, I knew they were in an uphill battle they probably could not win.

Maybe we should be grateful that we didn’t sign him to that bloated lengthy contract. I’m starting to think the best contracts pay a higher yearly total for fewer years. So if it goes bad like the Trevor Bauer deal, you’re not so badly on the hook forever like we always seems to be.

Honestly, when they fell behind 2-0 after 1 inning it already did not look good for them.

You don’t want to throw a change-up to a struggling hitter like Bogaerts. 86 mph in the middle of the plate was just what the doctor ordered for him.

And I really don’t blame Cole for the Schwarber HR. That was a 97 mph fastball. Sure, it was not great location, but that is still a hard pitch to hit out. You’d rather get beat with your best pitch any day of the week.

The Bogaerts HR was the big mistake that he could not recover from. In those kinds of games it only takes one key mistake to end your season. That was it.

That is a nice find on the “One way Ohtani”

Guest

The AL needs to change its DH rule from teams solely being able to replace their pitcher in the batting lineup to teams being able to replace their weakest hitter in the lineup. That way when Ohtani is pitching next year the Angels can still use a DH (to replace Rengifo’s bat with Stefanic’s, perhaps).

At this point, I think Pujols bothers me more than the Doyers. He certainly was much more cooperative accepting a diminished role there than with us.

I am going to a Dodgers bar to watch the game this evening where I will hope to softly enjoy the Cardinals’ victory over “Big Blue”.

Then I will try to gently escape from said bar without any violence happening (the last time I watched the Dodgers lose to the Red Sox in a Doyer bar it got pretty ugly. There weren’t any Sux fans there, but drunken Doyers fans just started shit with anyone not wearing Dodger gear…. one guy had a Giants hat, not smart)

I might ductape some phone books around my midsection and bring my sharpened toothbrush with me just to be safe. Maybe wear my Hartford Whalers hat just to confuse the shit out of them.

JackFrost

Yeah, since the Whalers don’t exist anymore that should confuse them.

The Whalers green road jersey is probably the greatest jersey in the history of sports though.

Where are you gonna get phone books in 2021?
A old Hartford Whaler’s jersey might actually be easier to get than a phone book.

They will change the WC game into a series if a 100+ win team gets bounced in a one and done, winner take all. Dodgers suck.

I was gonna root for the Cardinals. Then I saw that that Red Bird is throwing some serious side eye at me. F***in narcissist bird. Plus, the Cardinals had racist players back in the 1920s and 30s and also Tony La Russa. Why did it take me so long to realize that I need to hate the Cardinals? Plus, the Dodgers have lots of ads that are zazzy and try to relate to me. The Dodgers are just like all of us guys. Let’s root for the Dodgers cause that bird is obviously an asshole.

Can you blame a Bird for giving you the Bird?

gitchogritchoffmypettis

Sadly, no. Birds do not have folding fingers and can’t express ‘the bird”. It’s in the Bible. After a bird talked Steve into eating an apple the bird was cursed to lay eggs, poop uncontrollably, and be unable to flip the bird even though he came up with it.
