So the second game of this doubleheader was all Toronto. Nothing spectacular happened. It was all just workmanlike at-bats by the Toronto Blue Jays. Shohei Ohtani did get a nice triple to lead off the game.
Mike Mayers came in to close out the Blue Jays half of the festivities in the seventh inning when the Angels were down 4-0. Mayers got Springer out on a fly ball to center. Vlad Guerrero Jr. struck out. So far, so good. Marcus Semien, he of the non-existent defense, walked. We now come to Bo Bichette, who singled to send Semien to second base. There are two outs and two men on. I guess we need an out.
Mayers kind of grooved one, but got Teoscar Hernandez to hit into an out. Ok. So we are down by four with three outs to play with. No problem.
Jordan Romano came in to pitch the seventh for the Blue Jays. He grooved a first pitch four seam fastball that J. Iglesias just stood there and watched (for a strike). After a couple of foul balls, Iglesias hit a pitch that must have been a foot inside for a soft 1-3 groundout. What the hell?
Marsh singled, though. I guess he figured out that the object of the game is to score runs and, in order to do that, you have to hit safely. Juan Lagares struck out. (Grumble grumble)
Kurt Suzuki promptly singled. Are we going to win this or lose this? Make up your minds. Captain Jack Mayfield worked a walk to load them up for Shohei Ohtani. I’m proud of you Jack!
Mother of Pearl! Ohtani hit a foul tip to strike out and end the game. Oops!

Only the Dodgers & Giants have a better record in the National League.
Matt Arnold Milwaukee Brewers GM.
The Brewers sans a utter massive collapse like the 1995 Angels will be in the post season for the 4th straight year in a row. Good competitive and quality competent front office people are key A*te, not the cheapest!!! It’s not how many fans who drive pricey European imported SUV’s like MB, VW, BMW, LR, Jags or Volvos in the Anaheim Stadium parking lot. 😫 😖 😢 👈

This is gold.
I’m pretty sure the entire roster is depressed and concerned about RenDone and are distracted by thoughts of how we can trade that contract.
I want Mayfield on a 10yr $250m deal. Might produce more War than Buttjols
1. Appreciate the use of “Mother of Pearl!” in the postgame write up. 🙂
2. What are we paying Otani for if not to hit grand slams to tie up the game in the ninth-inning?? DFA that slouch.
Also the Mariners lost so that’s good. But of course the A’s won 🙄
Yea.Ohtani is wearing out From carrying this really bad offensive team to a .500 record. Kudos to him. Not his fault all the talent on this team are made of glass.
That last game was not as much fun as the first one today.
Is everyone comfortable with this take? Everyone OK?
They should really just step it up!
Or just slam down the gas and blast down the highway through the danger zone!
These fans are bugging out!
Why would I ever be comfortable with losing?
Ohtani used to see grapefruits. Now he sees ping pong balls.
Grains of Rice…
Old quote that I think was talking about George Brett back in the day – “That guy is so hot that he can hit a BB with a coat hanger”
Expecting Ohtani to stay that hot with no protection in this lineup is our real issue. That said he does now appear to be mortal after all.
Bummer. I have a personal in attendance scoreless streak that’s pretty bad.
Shooting Blanks, huh?
Now we’re average again. On to tomorrow!
The Angels are bad.
I wish they weren’t
It really pisses me off that I have no control
over it.
What are you talking about? No control?
We all know Angels FO reads CtPG!
GM someday? You’re at the age to go for it.
I don’t think I could handle all the stress and hate that job throws at you
just have to have 2002 on board for the draft
Pre-ASG Ohtani hits that first high out-over-the-plate 99mph heater served up for a GS to tie it. He looked at it.
