The Angels traded Kyle Keller to the Pirates for cash considerations.
Shohei Ohtani is basically fine after his collision with Josέ Abreu. He’s just got general soreness. Bleacher Report still thinks Griffin Canning has a high ceiling.

Now Trevor Bauer is on the “Free Nick Castellanos” bandwagon. Why? You may ask. Castellanos has been suspended two days and fined for his little pose-down at home plate against the Cardinals. He is appealing the suspension.
The Nationals were cleared to play their series against the Braves this week. They had no new positive tests for COVID-19 but game 1 of the series is a late scratch. Supposedly, they will play Tuesday’s game. Meanwhile, Governor Superspreader has a problem with MLB moving the All Star game away from Atlanta.
I can’t remember if I already linked this. Joulys Chacin has a major league deal with the Rockies.
Ha ha ha ha! Nice pitch, Soto! Vladdy would probably still have hit it somehow.
The Red Sox were swept by the lowly Orioles.
Tim Anderson had an MRI on the hamstring injury he sustained against the Angels. Still no word on the results.

In the “good thing Joiner isn’t a scout” department, Orlando Arcia is being shipped out of Milwaukee.
Few prospects have impressed me more in Spring Training. About five years ago I saw him crush a couple of balls in Maryvale, one all the way off the walkway beyond the left center field fence.
At a time I thought Taijuan Walker was going to be an ace, I thought Arcia was going to be a stud. Fortunately most pro scouts thought the same about both so I don’t feel too bad.
Skanks get Odor. Perfect
More opportunity to punch Blue Jays.
I’ll figure out what you mean. Hold on, don’t tell me…
If someone can do that back to Odor that would be nice.
Speaking of clothing, is there enough interest to sell more of the CtPG shirts? I really like the look and feel, and wouldn’t mind getting some for the kids and maybe more for myself.
We can spin some up again soon. We sell them on a limited time basis – they are not always available.
Gotta say, it’s good to hear from him ☺️
“Mike Scioscia was asked about the Angels fans who threw trash cans on the field: “I think they’re voicing their opinion as we all have a right to do.”

SAS on Dusty Baker complaining:
http://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/31203268
Baker loses me at “we paid for ours.” Bull. Not a single player lost a game’s worth of pay. They still have rings. Those players didn’t pay anything. Nor have they really apologized or acted like they genuinely are remorseful in any way.
Screw Dusty. You took over a garbage team and they’ll have to hear fans boo.
I can’t bring myself to dislike Dusty Baker, but being manager of the Astros and saying things like that are really testing my resolve.
Dusty has Manfred to blame here for not punishing the players. Whining about your customers is not a winning strategy.
Exactly. The guys even kept their playoff and WS bonuses.
Not one of them paid in any way.
But I’d still boo them even if they did ha ha.

Mike Scioscia will be the manager for USA baseball in the Summer Olympics.
That’s pretty cool! Hope Team USA makes a nice deep run
He is going to be in his element and I hope he does well.
Great. Hope they win the gold.
Hope we get to participate sooner than later with Nike’s city connect jerseys. We have some pretty cool logos/old uniforms, would be really cool to see what they come up with.

Personally, I hate what the NBA is doing with all two dozen alternate jerseys, etc. You can’t even recognize teams on the floor because you see colors that are totally alien to the franchise.
Stick with the classic colors and uniforms folks! For the Angeles I love the home whites with red trim. I also like the red top look, but we don’t need anything beyond those two (and of course the gray and red road jerseys) as far as I am concerned.
If MLB wants to do “throw-back” jerseys three or four times a year I can get into that. In fact, I really like those Padres brown and yellow jerseys.
I just don’t want to see totally new color schemes for anbody.
You mean you don’t want to see them being back the winged logo and periwinkle pinstripes.
I agree. Keep tradition in MLB. Let the NBA be the circus as it already is.
I’m all for a good throwback for a few nights a year. Angels have some solid unis outside the Disney junk.
I like the Angels jerseys circa 79’ and 80’ but I definitely don’t like the periwinkle and winged A caps.
I really wish sports leagues would make a real statement and demand Nike use fair trade practices.
Taking Nike money is my one disappointment with Trout.
I don’t purchase any NIKE products, nor does my family. Little league is Addidas clothes.
I also do not like or buy Nike products.
Same. And I genuinely despise people who make money off Nike talking down to us as though they are moral authorities. Either you care about kids, equality, slavery etc. or you take Nike’s money. You can’t have it both way Mr. James.
It’s interesting how Bron is not woke when there is money on the line for him.
Please take your woke views somewhere else Mr. Joiner. I come here for relief from all that crap from whatever side it flows. Thank you.
You come here to get relief from people trying to be decent human beings?
Then leave. Decency is rampant here.
It’d be cool but not something I see the Angels doing..
I think you’re right Jessica. Every throwback/alternate option they have already crushes it.
I honestly don’t get this project or what it’s supposed to achieve. What does this first example have to do with the Red Sox or Boston at all except for the area code patch? Genuinely asking here.
The design itself is ok but I would think I’m watching the UCLA Bruins or the US Navy Blue Angels softball team or something if I just stumbled upon it.
After seeing this and all those disgusting NBA and NFL “crossover” ideas posted on MLB social media during the offseason, I’m afraid of what they’re gonna force upon us.
I wasnt a big fan of our Disney logo. Enough time has passed where I think it’s ok now but have never purchased gear from that era. I like too many of the other options.
I think this is all about making more money. I have a few jerseys and it’s not like we are ever going back to using the ‘61-‘96 logos/uniforms full time (but for a few throwback nights a year) so this is about all there is to look forward to as far as buying something newer. In looking at all our logos the current big A is kinda bland.
the team store has the old school navy blue Starter jackets. Almost bought one last night.
That’s hilarious. I got one. Love all the logos on it. Added a ‘93 CA hat too.
Looked like the Brazil national team soccer jersey at a glance.
Calling the Texas governor a “Governor Superspreader” is not only a trash statement, it’s completely inaccurate.
Its too early to tell.
Anyway nobody’s going to be upset that he won’t throw out a first pitch. Also he’s a grandstander, like a lot of politicians regardless of party affiliation.
It should definitely be changed to Governor Hypocrite. After all, stating “It is shameful that America’s pastime is being influenced by partisan politics” while attempting to influence America’s pastime by taking a partisan position is the epitome of hypocrisy.
Nah, it’s definitely funny and probably accurate.
Are the Red Sox tanking on purpose to get Leiter? Swept by Baltimore?
Leiter is going in this upcoming draft, so no
Oh yeah, forgot it is Pirates, Rangers, Tigers, Red Sox, Orioles. Angels are at #9.
So this is what it feels like to win games in April.
Didn’t we win April games in 2018?
Since when do we use plural when discussing April victories?
I looked it up. On April 16, 2018 we were 13-3
That season was an outlier. Furthermore, after that great start we fell apart. It started by being swept by Boston at home ( which immediately followed a game we were rained out in KC).
Snowed out, I think
I thought we were just talking about winning games in April.
That WAS April! The 13-3 was the first half of April. Getting swept by Boston and then falling apart was the second half of April, lol.
Moral of the story; don’t start celebrating after two weeks. We have to play a full schedule and be consistent. We as fans can and should enjoy a good start. But don’t start making proclamations in the first two weeks.
I remember that so well. I interviewed Vic as he drove to the ballpark that day. We thought the season was going to be memorable.
Then the wheels fell completely off. Boston just destroyed us and the team nosedived.
I’ve drank beer at a pretty Pro level to start the season and I Proclaim I will continue to Drink Beer throughout the season at a Pro level. I fully expect to make the All Star game and Fly through the postseason on to a World Series Win!
So, you’re going to continue drinking beer through the All-Star break into the WS. No problem with that. That is something you have control over.
Ha ha. Yeah, it feels strange to not be looking up in the standings inApril.
Happy to see MLB.com isn’t editing or omitting the trash can stuff from the highlight/recap videos.
Lean into it. Bring America together in 2021 by booing the Astros
Love it, finally something that unites us!
We all hate the Stros, except for Stassi cause he’s now on our team, and can feel empathy for their fans, cause everyone hates their team.
I gotta say, compared to all the divide and rule crap that’s being manufactured out of this country, although this idea is flawed, it still may be the best way for most of us to come together!
Anyway, last night was pretty fun. Throwing back Altuve’s foul ball made me laugh.
This team has shown a resilience, determination and confidence over the last 5 games we have not seen in a very long time (particularly early in the season). They even came back from 7-1 in the 2nd game of the WS series to make it close until the end.
Now, what I would like to see is some games where the Angels jump out to an early lead and hold it. As fun as coming back is, it’s low probability. Hopefully they can play with equal determination and intensity with the lead. How about we start that experiment tonight?
Finally, a word about the gamethread. We all know there is a problem and, if this team is for real, and excitement builds, it will only become more frustrating. I presume it’s the high traffic on the server. Is there a pricetag on a dedicated server that the community could consider?
This is the way to start the season in front of the home crowd, Go Angels, as JUp is continuing his roll since the start of Spring and Walsh just the opposite by starting his roll since the season started. I still think we make the post season.
Silly Commish, suspending Castellanos for doing nothing really, no contact at all. He got hit by a pitch intentionally for a bat flip the day before and scores on a wild pitch and after scoring does a Hulk Hogan pose. Manfred needs to go, can you hear me Arty, the ownwers need someone from the outside.
I highly doubt he was hit intentionally.
So what? He got hit, he scored, he got excited and did a pose to rub it in the pitcher’s face that he scored after getting hit. He didn’t do anything to actually start the fight. Yadi is the one that started the fight.
And, let’s assume Castellanos was hoping his action would start a fight. So what? Yadi is still the one that started the fight. If this were a legal case for assault after a bar fight, Yadi is the one that would be charged with a crime, because Yadi is the one that first raised the interaction to the level of physical violence.
Unfortunately MLB, and we as fans are at the mercy of Manfred’s illogical brain.
I’d suspend Castellanos just for the taunting. I don’t want that anywhere near the game.
For the record, I don’t want fighting either, and Molina should have also been suspended, but I’m fine suspending Castellanos for that. In any other sport, that’s an unsportsmanlike foul or penalty of some sort. Taunting is juvenile and has no place in baseball (or any sport).
I’m with Gorby on this one. Nick acted like an ass (unsportsmanlike) and fir no reason.
But as AAF correctly points out Yadi started the physical stuff.
One game for Nick, two for Yadi, move on.
Yep, had they also suspended Molina then I would be fine with it, but only suspending Castellanos is illogical as Molina made the pushing contact which caused the dugouts to come onto the field.
Taunting is Juvenile, but there is no rule in Baseball that covers this, so to arbitrability to suspend a player that that was showing emotion with his back to the field is also poor judgement. If he was right in someone’s face maybe I would feel different. Other sports are exactly just that, other sports. In college Basketball when time is called or time is up player’s hop and skip with fists pumped while heading to the bench so then is that really not the same as what Castellanos any different? Baseball Player’s do the same thing on walk offs so is that different because of what, the inning. A warning to Pitcher, Cather and Runner may have been more appropriate based on play that we saw, as the umpires had everything under control.
I love the passion, but flexing in another dude’s face while he’s on his knees is a little much.
Joel Sherman “It seemed Woolford (Pitcher) hit Castellanos on purpose” so maybe I could have wrote “Might have hit”. But neither of us us where there so it’s still a maybe, it’s not like it doesn’t happen in MLB though.
Right on Grandpa! Let the kids play! See what I did there? Is it too late to bring back Bud Selig before Manboy completely screws up my favorite sport?
Trashcan has to be the new rally monkey, right?
Well at least against the Asstros.
I like Houston Asterisks better. Did you see that sign the guy in the stands made? It looked like it could be official.
