AAA Season Delayed by a Month+

Jeff Passan reported that the AAA season will be delayed at least one month and alternate sites will be returning.

For the Angels, that means the alternate squad will be at Inland Empire in San Bernadino.

While I understand the precautions, it does seem odd they would wait until 1 month before the start of the AAA season before announcing this, and if MLB can play with precautions, why can’t AAA? Minor Leaguers may be getting the short end of the bat once again, though they are expected to play a bit later into September to make up for some lost time.

MLB is able to do to AAA what they wanted to do at the MLB level. Plain and simple.

The really interesting thing now is service time manipulation and if an assignment to an alternate site is considered using an option.

But, but, but the Trash Pandas don’t start their season until May. The league published its schedule about a week or two ago.

And then to Salt Lake at the end of this month? The Bees start playing April 8th, I think.

Everybody is waiting for their Covid shots. Tiers and subset tiers.
