LA Angels Monday News Crash- Actual Baseball!

Mike Trout ranked 13th in this list of the best base runners in Major League Baseball.  Jose Quintana started for the Angels Yesterday.  They had Adell get right back on the horse, though it’s still the start of spring training. It wasn’t pretty, but the Angels won anyway.  Walsh got the start at first base and we got a chance to see Lagares patrolling center.

Shohei Ohtani hit 100 MPH during a 35 pitch live batting practice on Saturday.  Meanwhile, Packy Naughton has a grade 1 strain of the UCL in his elbow because of course he does.  Grade 1 means it is apparently not torn.  Robel Garcia is gone to Houston.  Let’s hope Mayfield doesn’t suck too bad.  Also, Jesse Chavez was signed to a minor league deal with the Angels.  Happy belated birthday to Franklin Barreto

Non- Angels Links

Tommy Pham says he’s back to about 80% after being stabbed in the back last October.  His wound required 200 stitches.  He was not able to lift heavy weights during the offseason.

Barreto is a lost cause. Billy got snookered. I think Cobb will hold his own this year after watching his sinker in action.

What would spring training be without Angel Hernandez already being Angel Hernandez.

What a poor example. It looks like that ball was a strike when it first started crossing the plate, so yes, it should have been a strike, but it fell below the zone quickly and the catcher definitely contributing toward making it look like a ball.

Epic job of the announcers calling that in real time. Just absolutely buried Hernandez without missing a beat and kept on going.

Not liking the red on red (home vs away squads). Aren’t there rules about that?

Are all these photos of Trout taken recently? If so, he looks very leaned up.

200 stitches seems like he was sliced up pretty bad. In the back makes me wonder if he was trying to walk or run away.

At least strip clubs were open somehow. I guess

All those PSAs when I was a kid…. “Just walk away….” were total crap. I can’t tell you how many guys I know, including myself, who have taken a shot to the back or head while walking away cause some wisdomy TV voice from my childhood popped into my head and told me to try it. There should be a PSA titled Stop Talking. Slowly Back Away. Feet Slightly More Than Shoulder Width Apart. Hands Relaxed By Your Sides But Ready If Needed.

Ha, I vaguely remember those. Then you step into a gym and rule #1 is never turn your back to your opponent.

Well the knifing occurred in the parking lot so maybe the strip club had moved its entire professional operation outside like all the other fine eating establishments?

Although I don’t have everyone stays warm when all you’re wearing is a mask. 😷

The stabbing might strip an entire season from Pham’s career.

Love that we get another game today. Hope Marsh gets in the field in this one.

That’s why baseball is the greatest sport. Once the games start, they don’t stop.

March Madness and World Cup are the fantastic fanatical experiences but day to day, you’re right, love baseball.

I love the daily routine of baseball. Life is just better with a game going.

I obviously love boxing. There’s nothing like the energy of a big fight. But that serenity that comes with baseball is unparalleled.

I love the layers. Game Two overlaid on Game One…..Game Fifty-three overlaid on Games One through Fifty-Two, and so on. The cumulative stats, the changing batting averages, the memories of a catch someone made “a month or so ago”.

Nothing quite like a summer night with the windows open and the bbq going with a game on. It’s wonderful.
