The Angels signed right handed swingman Junior Guerra to a minor league deal. He probably gets invited to spring training. World Series here we come. Who here thinks Mike Trout is good at batting?
It’s official. Andrelton Simmons is with the Minnesota Twins. Happy belated birthdays to Nolan Ryan and Jackie Robinson. Didi Gregorius re-signed with the Phillies for two years at $28 Million. Adam Wainwright went to the Cardinals for one year at $8 Million.
The Mets traded starter Steven Matz to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for three prospects. The White Sox will be getting left hander Carlos Rodon. Meanwhile, the Athletics acquired Cole Irvin from the Phillies for cash considerations. The Cardinals will get Nolan Arenado on what is apparently a very complicated transaction.
MLB now proposes a 154 game season with the start delayed by a month and extending an extra week into the autumn. The player’s union is not expected to go along with it. The Mets owner, Steve Cohen, took a break from Twitter after his family received threats in the wake of the GameStop debacle.
W.T.F. Holy shit, Callaway. You really are an asshole.

As if the news today wasn’t bad enough. Now we find out Callaway is a jackass.
If it’s all accurate, and we have no reason to believe it isn’t, he should not have a job by morning.
I’m sure there are text records proving it pretty conclusively.
I used to look forward to the season with a certain level of optimism. Today, I’m already dreading the frustration and can’t wait for the season to be over.
Angels – where young, bright GMs come and 5 years later can’t find a job.
It’s formulaic
(Minasian = Eppler) = Arte
This move is soul sucking. The season is over before it begins. Start the countdown on Minisian and let’s hope the next guy takes a different approach while Mike Trout is still in his 30s.
Glowing article from MLB.com on Fletcher. https://www.mlb.com/angels/news/david-fletcher-a-throwback-do-it-all-player
Here before the storm of people saying the deal was garbage, but frankly, I don’t mind it. You never know, this could be a prelude to Barria or Sandoval being packaged in a deal for a Marquez or something…I’ll give Perry a chance. Still some time to make an impact on this team.
Take a look at the going rate for young, cost controlled SP. A deal for Marquez will take Adell and Marsh + pitching.
Barria and Sandoval just aren’t that good. If they can’t earn a job on the club with one of the worst rotations in all of MLB – Perry isn’t hanging up the phone if any GM is desperate enough to seek aquiring them.
They would be after Canning if they are coming for our MLB caliber pitching. Would we send Adell and Canning for Marquez? Is he that Marquis?
Say it ain’t so Perry. Look at this guys career and see if this guy makes sense, any kind of sense for the life of the contract. Just turn around and walk away Perry.
Laughing out loud, One week ago I said Perry would only make small deals as Arte wants the room at the top incase somethings important happening because he is not going to spend anymore. No way Bauer lands here. Perry is the new Boss and Same as the old Boss.
Simmons was a favorite around here, it’s a shame really.
wahh wahh get over Simmons already dude, that move saved $7-8m and Iglesias has two working ankles anyway
So Simmons for Iglesias and Alex Cobb. Good deal?
THIS. TEAM.
Trading for Cobb?!! Feels like we are being corn holed!!
Uh oh.
Simmons probably would have signed a 3 year 27 million-type extension with the Angels. I think it was a mistake not to do that.
He can. After the 2021 season.
LOL.
That is all.
Angels acquiring Alex Cobb from Orioles according to Rosenthal and others
The inevitable “Big Splash”. It’s time to start printing those World Series tickets.
Hoo boy.
I get just about anyone with an arm is an upgrade but still…
At least our spending power next year looks to be big with all these deals ending after 2021
Raise your hand if you still think Perry has gone stealth to sign Bauer
We got our ace!!!!!!
Pop the champagne corks, they landed the coveted 4.30 era and an 8% walk rate pitcher that they were after. And he lost 2019 to a back injury, but don’t worry, The Angels never have problems with pitchers with an injury history.
Maybe this is one of these deals where we get the Player AND the prospect?
It better include money – Cobb is getting paid $15m in 2021.
Perry and Eppler had lunch together in the dumpster.
Another move toward treading water.
I don’t know what I was expecting, but it sure wasn’t this. [clown emoji]
If we could get Marquez from the Rockies but had to take Blackmon would it be worth it?
Are you prepared to empty all the top level talent in the farm for Marquez? After getting flamed for the Arendado deal, I suspect the prospect price will be excessively high for Marquez.
IT. AIN’T. HAPPENING.
I get it but if we take a big contract off maybe the cost of prospects won’t be so high. What we have is cash instead of prospects so let’s use what we have instead of emptying our cupboards prospects.
cole irvin local boy
The Baseball Players union is going to cause grief Charlie Brown to the poor states with teams are going to force the hands of Government to get involved. In California that is the kiss of death as we can’t get the DMV to working properly, so getting health care to run efficiently is a joke. So the answer has got to be to back down and stop being selfish. Arizona is nice, nice place to get Covid – 19 or some variant. MLB Baseball may only get in 120 games this season. We all want to receive our due compensation but certainly must realize this is not going to always happen in an extraordinary times like this.
Apparently the MLB’s Fearsome Foursome of Hitters includes a Trash Can
