I just wanted to chime in and thank everyone for putting this site together. It’s very exciting to have a new home. Together.
I started covering the Angels in 1997 on the GrandStand boards at AOL. A few other writers and I put together weekly recaps, previews, special feature articles (I wrote one about the young west coast third basemen…Beltre, Glaus, and Chavez!), and other content. Our pay? Free AOL. All of $25 a month. We loved it.
Then CBS bought out Grandstand and I became an unpaid intern for CBS Sportsline. That lasted a few months, then I went to grad school, and got too busy for internet baseball. Then after 2002 I found Baseball Think Factory, and then the OG Halos Heaven. I was hooked.
I found my people. Scareduck, Matt Welch, Rev, Stirrups, etc. it was awesome. Then the move to SBN, at first I was irritated, then it got normalized and the people were still the fanatic supporters of the Angels. The community was the same. And growing. And smart. And passionate. It was great, and we all got to know each other during the best run in the history of the team – 2004-2009 – and it was a blast.
Then, when Rev was shown the door, I was skeptical about continuing on HH. But the new leaders were smart, funny, and dedicated. I stayed – but posted less. But read it all. Flash forward a few years and here are are…it’s the best of both worlds.
Rev with the new folks. It’s unbridled, it’s exciting, it’s likely going to kick so much ass that I will start writing again and contributing to this great community a bit more.
Welcome back to our old digs folks. Cozy up, it’s comfortable here.
I reiterate Jimmuscomp’s remarks.
Is this giving SB Nation/Vox the bird? Gosh whattashame.
Now: who’s with me? Who’s ready for a thrilling 78-84 season?
Woo! Found the old HH gang!
Can’t believe you guys tried to ditch me… Heh, it’s gonna be fun.
Feels like old school HH. Glad to be back amongst my peeps.
It feels like coming home. Double squee!!
It is all coming together.
