I’m still giddy about the news. New owner. It being STAN. Oh so nice. And to celebrate, the Angels had Eric Dickerson throw out the first pitch. Life is like poetry after all. I like this rhyme.
Anyway, the game. Today was a pitcher duel between a guy who has a chance at a Cy Young and someone who may as well win it next year. Detmers went 7 innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits striking out 8 and walking none. He’s the ace of the team. Just like we all hoped for.
Highlighted Recap
Pitching and defense is so important. Today we saw both, like this great double play by Neto in the 4th.
Sadly, the Yankees struck first with an rbi double that same inning.
But it was still a close game, thanks again to plays like this in the top of the 6th.
Detmers went 7 but was in line for the loss. That is until Grissom tied the game!
Pitching duel lived up to the hype. Neither SP got the win as while Detmers went 7 and Cam went 8, it was 1-1 in the 10th as we go to extras. Uh oh. The Angels almost got out of the 10th but with 2 outs and 2 strikes the ball went right between the fielders.
And the floodgates opened.
STOP
WE ARE ALREADY DEAD
It finally ended at a 6-1 going into the bottom of the 10th. And while the Angels could have rolled over and died, they hit a home run instead!
Too little. Too late. Angels lose again anyway.
Upcoming
