Angels Beat the Tigers in the Morning thanks to Pizza

Morning Baseball. Stupid timezones. Then again, the alternative to time zones is the number being meaningless to determine what is good or not for people where, as while, sure, we can all ask if 12 is good for you or not, that means noon to a few, and like, complete darkness to half of humanity. So, if people were more open to being awake at different hours regardless of sunlight maybe, but until then, we are stuck with this, and morning Baseball.

Anyway, what unlucky pitcher had to have the time zone shift to start today? Grayson Rodriguez. Well, he is 26, so, he should adjust pretty easily. He went 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits, striking out 5 and walking 2. Hey, not bad. Remember, he is pre arb, so that trade with Baltimore to get him is about the future. This team would still suck with Taylor Ward out in LF.

5k

We really should have seen this series win coming. because, despite being bad, the Angels have beaten the Tigers the most out of any AL opponent.

Really, Red Sox is 3rd?

Highlighted Recap

Tigers roared first with a solo HR in the 2nd.

1-0 Tigers

And there it stayed until the 5th, when the Angels tied it up.

Tied game!

This is the power of PIZZA, as the Tigers Mascot foolishly gave the Angels booth a Detroit Style Little Caesar’s Pizza.

Pizza POWAR

And the Angels took the lead as the hits kept coming.

2-1 Angels

As well as a sac fly

3-1 Angels

G-Rod was in line for the win, as long as the bullpen held up. Good thing the offense extended the lead, scoring again in the 8th.

4-1 Angels

Make that 2 runs

5-1 Angels

While Bachman did load the bases in the 8th, he got out there unscathed. Still, Trout felt it necessary to add 2 more runs in the 9th, just in case…

7-1 Angels

The Angels Bullpen did a good job today, 4 innings of shutout Baseball, allowing only 1 hit. They did walk 5 batters though. Anyway, Angels win! Back to back Series wins for the first time all season.

Upcoming

Angels go to Tampa Bay and then get to go back home for the Rockies next week.

The Angels rotation may be decent, but man, TB’s is GOOD

Man, Tampa Bay is simply a pitching factory, aren’t they? Geez.

Too bad Soriano wasn’t going this series.

and they traded Shane Baz to Baltimore for a haul in the off-season!

TB will be a good test for Detmers and Urena

Hmmmm. So we could go another start of his where we don’t score runs for him ?

I mean, tomorrow Urena is going up against Nick Martinez who, has an ERA under 2.00 ! Gonna be hard on Walbert tomorrow to keep us in that game…. pretty much has to be perfect….

CMo starting in LF and Guzman at 3B tonight for SLC 👀

I can rock with Peraza at 2nd, Neto at SS, Guzman at 3B, CMo in LF.

Guzman was 2/4 with a 2B and a HR. He is getting me all hot and bothered.

In other news, some guy named Josh Lowe was 3/5 with 2 doubles and he also notched an outfield assist. We should give him a look.

I highlighted the need for Trout & Rodriguez to show up today – and they both certainly did.

Trout reached base on 4/5 plate appearances. Nice.

The has emerged victorious in 5 of 6 games. Winning is fun.

It was nice to see Trout square up the ball multiple times today. Even on that out, it was hard hit and hit the other way. Hopefully that gets up his BA and OPS soon.

He’s really a road warrior this season. .738 OPS at home vs 1.032 on the road. Hopefully this bodes well for the Tampa series.

Yeah, his numbers at home are truly perplexing.

I love when he’s hitting line drive doubles and not striking out. He also looked good, albeit not vintage, scoring from 1st on the double from Grissom (?).

Credit where due, Neto is starting to put some decent games together and has been much better the past couple of weeks. The K rate is much too high, but, he’s trending in a better direction for sure.

Very encouraging start from Rodriguez. I need to remind myself that he’s still practically in Spring Training. His “stuff” is legit.

It’s time to get the GRod hype train really rolling. The fact his velo is already back to 98 and command is improving each time out has me excited.

True ace potential.

His changeup looked really good as well…

This Ward trade might turn out to not be awful ….. 🙏

Detroit style Little Cesar’s pizza?

So the worst pizza chain in the country making the best style of pizza in the country. I guess it would turn out to be mediocre then?

Should’ve gotten Jet’s Pizza. That’s real Detroit style.

Yeah, their pizza is only good if you’re drunk. Crazy bread is a different story.

well if the rest of the division can’t get over .500 then we’d need 82 wins (assuming some team gets to 81-81) or 60 more. 60 wins out of 105 games. 60-45. That’s going 4-3 every 7 games for the rest of the season. I believe I can’t see it happening.

I like how we all used to play along with your record projections and required pace. Now, you just say, “no, not going to happen.”
