Angels and the Terrible, Horrible, Very Bad 3rd Inning

It is time for games to matter. Well, almost. These games vs the Dodgers may not count, but as the Freeway rival for the market and wallets, these games matter to some people. Also, the Angels swept the Dodgers in 2025, meaning they are champs by NCAA rules… or something.

Anyway, as the game IS the first televised game all spring by the Angels broadcast, it feels like baseball is officially back. Which is why I am writing this postgame. So, how did the Angels do?

Well, it was George Klassen for the start, wait, who? Yeah, non roster invitee. Not a part of the rotation. He went 2 and a third innings, giving up 5 runs, although some were inherited ones that scored. Yeesh. No one he won’t be a part of this rotation. Actually, all 3 pitcher in the 3rd suck, giving up 10 runs.

As for the offense, well, no shutout at least?

“Highlighted” Recap

Soler hit a solo shot off the wall scoreboard in the 2nd.

1-0 Angels

And it all went downhill from here. Seriously. The Angels “pitching” allowed 10 runs in the 3rd inning. None of the 3 guys are likely to actually be on this terrible, terrible team. So, yeah. not much to write about, especially since most of the runs were due to a ton of walks.

10-1 Dodgers

Somehow, the Angels pitching outside of the 3rd was better, although it was hard to do worse.

They did allow one more in the 6th. Which sucked.

HOWEVER, Soler was in “I am not on the Angels” form, hitting a 2nd home run in the day in the 6th. A 3 run shot, he had all 4 RBI for the Angels today.

11-4 Dodgers

That is until an RBI groundout by Oswald. 11-5 Dodgers.

Of course that meant the Dodgers scored another in the 7th. 12-5 Dodgers.

And another in the 8th… 13-5 Dodgers. That was the final score. Angels lost. Badly.

Upcoming

Angels face the Dodgers for 2 more games before ACTUAL games start. Angels are eliminated from Cactus League contention.

Do you even enjoy your job writing about this “terrible, terrible” team? If all you were going to do was point out the flaws, why not wait until tomorrow? If a guy does well, he is not part of the team. If he does poorly, then he is just another scrub. Seriously, if this is what to expect from your “articles” – hard pass.

He mentioned Soler’s accomplishments multiple times. This was a game that we lost by a significant margin. This didn’t feel that unfair to me…

too bad about this meaningless game but anyway…a couple of days ago Mikey was hitting .209 with a .540 OPS (or so…I made up those numbers but they’re not too far off) now he’s at .289/.778. Rounding into form!

Oh, it is far more than just the 3 rd inning that was bad.
