Fun one tonight. The Angels flipped the script at Angel Stadium with one of their best all-around showings in weeks, jumping all over the Twins and riding a relentless offense to a commanding lead.
Los Angeles came out firing in the first, pushing across three runs behind Trout and Yoán Moncada’s singles, plus some heads up baserunning from Ward and Rengifo. The bats didn’t slow down. In the fifth, Rengifo punched a single through to bring in Moncada and moments later Taylor added on with an RBI knock of his own.
The knockout came an inning later. Ward and Trout reached and then Taylor crushed a three run homer to dead center, stretching the lead beyond reach. Ward stayed hot with another RBI single right after as the lineup piled on.
The Angels’ staff kept Minnesota in check, scattering hits and stranding runners while the defense backed them with clean plays. Through six innings the Twins had no answers while Los Angeles looked locked in at the plate and in the field.
Moncada launched a two run shot of his own (375 feet) giving the Halos a commanding 12-0 lead. Nearly the entire lineup has contributed tonight, with Trout reaching base multiple times and Rengifo continuing to drive in runs.
The Twins tacked on a couple pity points at the end off a Fitzgerald homer. Tonight, the Twins couldn’t keep up with us at all… Angels win 12-2!
