Today we got an early start with Silent C on the mound against the Reds.
A couple of walks and a couple of single in the second inning led to an Angels run. The Angels left a lot of men on base, but at least they came away with a lead.
A Soler double and a Moncada single put the Angels up 2-0 in the third inning.
In the fourth, another Frazier walk plus a Neto homer put the Angels up 4-0.
The fifth inning featured Cincinnati getting a run without a hit. Josh Lowe homered in the sixth inning to get that run back. 5-1 Angels.
In the top of the seventh Yoan Moncada got a two out triple. Jo Adell struck out to strand him. The Reds just couldn’t keep Moncada off base.
In the eighth inning, Sam Moll walked both O’Hoppe and Frazier to put two men on with one out for Zach Neto. Like Moncada, the Reds just couldn’t keep Frazier off the base paths. Kyle Nicholas came in to pitch and Neto got a hit to load the bases for Mike Trout. Trout worked a walk to drive in a run. 6-1 Angels.
Jorge Soler hit a grand salami to make it 10-1 Angels.
In the bottom of the eighth, Elly de la Cruz homered off of Mitch Farris to make it 10-2 Angels. P.J. Higgins came in to pitch. He is a back up catcher and was pumping in 50 MPH fastballs. Well, Gameday called them sliders. He retired the Angels 1, 2, 3. He retired Adam Frazier for crying out loud. I didn’t think that was possible. The Reds could not come back. The Angels won in convincing fashion.
