Morning Angels fans. Have links.
Angels News
Ron Washington is gone. He will not return back as the Angels manager for 2026.
So is Ray Montgomery. We will have a new manager for 2026.
Who will be the manager then? Candidates are being speculated.
Maybe Charles can explain this, but a bunch of famous Angels players were named as potential witnesses for the Skaggs family case against the Angels. Sounds like they are trying to force a settlement.
Around Baseball
Tigers win game 1 vs the Gaurds. Cubs win vs the Padres. Yankees commit a NOBLETIGER in the 9th vs the Red Sox and daaaaaaaaaaaaa jankies lose. Meanwhile the Dodgers bullpen tried to blow it but the Reds kept swinging at ball 4.
Padres offense has been bad in October for quite a while. 1 run in 33 innings.
Masahiro Tanaka won his 200th professional game combined with MLB and NPB. Good for him.
2025 had no super teams. Only the 8th year where no team won .600 percent of the time.
Rays sale is complete. Twins and Angels fans cry in envy.
Anything I missed? Post below for upvotes!
I am sure some of you Angel diehard fans remember the time when Torri and Albert almost went at it. The gist was that Albert was pouting in the clubhouse about his missed stats and Torii leaned into him and called him out for being selfish. Anyone can fact check this? If true that Albert gets the job, feeling Torii will exit. Cannot blame him.
Here is one.

Pujols would unequivocally be the best candidate to manage a young pitching staff, isn’t it obvious? And having a culture to bust it down the line? Nobody did it better.
SOLD
I’m gonna go against the grain and say I think Albert Pujols as manager would be entertaining. We all know the playoffs are a pipe dream until Arte’s heart gives out so we may as well enjoy this experiment
Well, I guess if you drink, you can play a drinking game during the post game interviews called “what the hell did Albert just say”.
While I’m blowing a gasket, I’m also reminding myself what Jim Fregosi did in 1979 with absolutely zero managerial experience. Of course it helped that Gene spent money for players.
so it depends if Arte gives Albert more talent more than anything else.
You also remember Bill Rigney, two .500 seasonsin 8, then fired early in the 1969 Season. Won the AL West with the Twins. How about Dick Williams, who took three different teams to the World Series, and was full of nothing but suck with the Angels. John McNamara? Won a pennant 2 seasons after he left here, smirking in the dugout when the “genius” brought Gary Lucas in to hit Rich Gedman…
Enjoy what ? Albert having no idea how to utilize his pen pieces ? Or Albert having no idea about motivating his players, or instilling a “team first” attitude ?
It sounds like it’s Arte wants Albert just like he wanted lots of other things. Arte is an idiot when it comes to running a professional sports franchise and actually he shouldn’t be running any organization because he has no idea how to higher and empower his employees so that they can successfully perform their jobs.
Pujols CANNN….
Teach Nolan to use steroids. Allegedly. So Nolan gets powuhhh.
Albert can teach Trout how to completely not earn a huge contract but be unfazed by it.
Albert can also teach Trout how to abandon his family, so maybe Trout won’t suck sometimes.
Albert can show all of our pitchers how to produce more ground balls.
Albert can help our scouts identify 20 year old 16 year old prospects.
Angels Albert has a lot to bring to the table.
Perfect.
I would add teach players to underperform until traded to the Doyers where they can suddenly enjoy a career renaissance.
let me summarize: Albert is an ass. and he will teach the lads to behave like asses.
110%
I swear, if they hire Pujols I may just boycott the Angels until Arte sells or dies.
solidÅrity
Yup. As with everything I’ll wait and see. But with the power of the internet do I really need to watch this shit happen day in and day out? Nope. If they hire him and magic ahslode lie dah powr ah gah then maybe I’ll watch. If not, plenty of other teams.
I’m already there, buddy.
Waiting to see where Mr. Washington ends up.
Field manager is way too low on the totem pole to be the problem here. General manager as well.
Jon Carpino took over as President of the team in the winter of 2009. He has personally overseen and played a significant role in the decline of this franchise. His head needs to roll.
Dennis Kuhl took over as Chairman the same winter of 2009. His head needs to roll.
The fact Artie’s college buddies are safe shows that nothing of substance will change.
Roger that 100%, sir.
Agree 💯 but it will never happen which is why we are all suckers – particularly anyone who gives Arte money.
Agree. The manager could help a little bit, but it would not turn things around drastically. Carpino, and thus Arte need to go.
So true.
Seeing reports that its Pujols 😕
🤮 🤮
Doing stupid shit is the hallmark of this franchise.
The Angels radio broadcast is all Pujols propaganda. Good grief. I bet they put his picture on s banner in front if the stadium because sometimes I think I live in hell, and going from Washington to the weak grounder, GDIP, plantar king, is another level of hell.
I’m hoping it’s Clint Hurdle
Just saw a report that Ken Rosenthal is reporting Albert is “reportedly the lead candidate for Angels manager”. Not impressed.
He can tell everybody how important RBIs are while they are all failing to get on base.
#FreeWash!
Where? My truck is dirty!
Me tooooo me toooo
I know last night you thought Pujols was a done deal. Apparently he hasn’t even been interviewed for the job yet.
It’s a done deal
Arte is secretive about everything even this unless Albert backs out. Which I don’t think he will
I’m to GA to read all the comments, so I apologize if this has already been stated in one form or another.
First off, hiring Pujols or Hunter as the manager is a fool’s errand at best. Everyone knows their on-field accomplishments. They are to be celebrated and respected for that, regardless of late-career decline (I’m looking at you, Albert). However, that does not automatically translate to guaranteed managerial success. Neither of them has any manager experience that I am aware of.
In this scenario, it seems that bringing Wash back for 2026 with Pujols or Hunter installed as the bench coach as the manager in waiting might have been a better option. That way, they gain exposure to what day-to-day management entails. Viewing manager decisions as a player would be far different than viewing them through the lens of a coach, I would think.
Would Wash have agreed to this, knowing he was certain to be done by the end of the season? Probably not. But it seems a far better option than throwing someone with no manager or even coaching experience out there.
As far as the GM position, it’s not like Minsian has lit the world on fire. He hasn’t been a total failure either. He’s been, meh, at best. If the Angels could find someone who could do the job better, it’s probably a reasonably good time to make the change.
But can they find someone who is also willing to work for the Angels and all that that entails? The prevailing wisdom seems to be that no ‘quality’ GM would want to work for Arte. But how accurate is that within the ranks of MLB front-office people? We don’t really know.
Lastly, the one constant over the decline of the franchise is those in upper management. The vitriol directed at them is justified.
Does anyone trust them to make better decisions than history has shown them capable of making? Personally, I don’t think so.
As far as Artes meddling, admitting to being the cause of the organization’s failings requires a lot more introspection than I think most billionaires have. After all, they are billionaires, which means they have been successful enough to attain such wealth; so long as it did not come from winning the sperm donor lottery. So, they don’t think they can be successful, they KNOW they can. Whether that is a true statement or not.
Either way, I’ll still be an Angels fan. Which sucks for me because I’m also a UCLA fan, so my choices in teams are clearly poor. But, hey, hockey season is upon us, so GO KINGS GO! GO REIGN GO!
Pooholes career starting going down hill at 31, right when he became an angel.
34*
Yep.
And his career in his 30s is a harbinger of what we’re going to see with Trout.
With Cardinals: BA 0.326, average of 39 HR and 116 RBIs per year
With Angels: BA 0.256, average of 22 HR and 78 RBI per year, a drop of roughly 44% less homers, and 33% less RBI

Albert’s been managing down in the Dominican. I think it’s a pretty big jump from there to managing MLB.
I dunno… facebook Honks are pimping Benji Gil.
I’m a Bruins fan too. Firing Foster does not solve the problem, it was a mistake in the first place and goes back a long time before Foster was brought in. It’s similar to firing Wash, it’s a way of passing the buck of failure downhill. The problem is that the top with the AD at UCLA and with Arturo and Minasian for the Angels.
I appreciate the Mets owner stepping up and taking responsibility for their failure. Something we have never seen from Arturo. It is a good lesson that spending money doesn’t necessarily buy you results. I hope we see a smart approach when we are finally able to clean house.
A good example of this is the guy who just bought the Lakers. He’s got a ton of money but he is standing by to make good reasoned decisions when the time is right. The Lakers are moving forward in a positive direction.
I am gonna keep pounding this because “Happy Torii the Teacher” is a thing.
He could be the manager RIGHT NOW with Wash gone. But, he was “insulted” the Angels offered him a mere coaching job on Washington’s staff. F him.
I was just thinking, the one good thing with Albert is his connection to the Dominican fountain of youth.
you mean the “injection” of youth
Another funny thing is the reports list him as 45. Now that he isn’t playing, why doesn’t he reveal his real age.
Tanned. Rested. Ready.
Scioscia 2026!

Because I’m bored and boring, I decided to have a bit of fun with Copilot AI. Just how bad was our starting pitching. Pretty bad.
Using ERA and ERA+ data from BRef and removing that data from everyone not named Kikuchi or Soriano and replacing with three Soriano’s would still net only a league average starting group. (Caveats apply, had to triple check that data was read correctly from BRef and I’m assuming correct calculations.)
Yes, the SO’s are asinine and defense was crappy, but if you don’t have even average pitching you have a hard time getting close to playoffs.
And yes again, having best pitching in the league doesn’t guarantee playoffs. See Rangers.
There are enough other holes but doesn’t matter – every available cent should be spent on Starting Pitching.
Other than ego, which is certainly a consideration, it’s hard to imagine why Albert, who is worth hundreds of millions of dollars and has a family, has any interest in having a job like managing a baseball team for 6 months out of the year, more when you consider spring training, when he already gets paid anyway.
I could be wrong, but pretty sure he divorced his wife, so maybe he isn’t around his family as much as people think?
Yep. They divorced when he retired.
Good point guys
Albert remarried
Younger, hotter? You stud, Albert.
Didn’t know that.
and she had brain cancer
What a great human being. Consistent with the organization.
Wait. I read here it was “confirmed by multiple sources” Pujols was in.
The source is a guy that’s been wrong a lot, citing a Dominican radio host
💩 It’s all shit
and it’s getting worse.
Perry made one decision I liked: he hired Wash.
💩
What part of whathappened would make you say that Wash was a good hire? You keep saying it and I just don’t understand it. I am not trying to be aggressive. I’m seriously curious as to why you think he was a good manager and a good hire?
Theory:
Hunter will be the new Manager.
He typically joins the dugout when they are in Texas, but his presence in Anaheim the last week makes me think that perhaps he was doing a little bit of inside scouting as special assistant to the GM, and if his thoughts on young guys and current players align with what Perry thinks, he gets the job.
Of course that could all change if Arte steps in says he wants Pujols (which I know people will complain about with Arte overstepping, but like it or not, it’s his team and he’s well within his right to choose who he wants).
Cheap Arte, already paying Slbert 1 million for “personal services”, well Mr. Pujols, by “personal services” we meant manage this last place team.
So Arte now hates Albert? Sounds like a punishment to manage this team.
Depends how masochistic the manager is.
Hire Pujols.
Then keep Perry.
Then burn it all down.
2026 Team MVP- Brandon Drury
Let’s do it baby! Speed the plow!
That’s how I would see it playing out
