The Astros wee eliminated to begin with.
With Cleveland and Detroit winning, the Astros were not going to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Making today’s game pointless. As such the Angels did not play well and Astros walked all over them.
Caden Dana tried anyway. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, striking out 5 and walking 1. Trying doesn’t mean succeeding. Ate innings at least.
Lowlighted Recap
Dana allowed runs. And more runs. And it wasn’t a close game. 5-0 Trashos. But, uh, Jo Adell drove in Mike Trout in the 6th.
Don’t worry, the bullpen gave up a 6th run. Because of course they did.
Anyway, Angels lose again. 89th loss of the season.
Upcoming
Game 162 tomorrow. And then the Postseason stars Monday.
I still think Dana has a chance to develop into a decent starter. If we can run ‘Silent C’ out there, we can do the same with Dana.
Just decent is good enough?
Maybe that’s why we’re the AL West basement doormat. Been more than a decade since Jered Weaver. One rich person is against a good farm system and player development community infrastructure and great starting pitching. So we’ll get to see the Chisox and the Rockies zoom right past us in the next recent upcoming seasons too?
We mention, we promote, we ask, that we play the yuts, then act surprised that they are not a Weaver or Ryan. Moore may not work out just yet, but don’t judge him and his career just yet. We got one more game left and I hope everyone hitz 2 HRs and does not strike out. If we judged Trouty based on 2011 he might have been a Met god forbid. Next is 5 months of no baseball, shoveling snow, cold nights, and Arturo not selling-good grief Charlie Brown.
I loved beating the Asstros and being the team that kept them out of the playoffs!
Would love to see Trout hit at least one more dinger, Adell get to 100 rbi, Jensen save another game and the Mets to lose today. Enjoy your sports today.
What exactly are ‘yuts’ ?
Youthful players as opposed to Utes.
yutes
It’s always last year’s top draft pick who’s our top minor league player.
Now you know we don’t invest in American HS or Latin American players, because those players are younger and require more time to develop.
Is Dana not as good as advertised, or are the Angels ruining him? I’ve yet to see 1 quality performance from him.
He’s 21. Give him time to develop.
Pitching 7 innings, while giving up 5 runs is not good; but, not devastating. For instance, Jose Soriano, in his 11 losses this year, has nearly an 8.00 ERA, and he’ll be a main part of the roster next year.
I have no problem with Angels bringing him up for these meaningless games these last couple of months to see how far along he is in his development.
First time in 9 years that the Astros missed the postseason, The Angels have not even come close to making the postseason in 10 years.
Once 2026 season ends, you can amend your post to 11 years.
Go Reds. They are scrappy!!
My Halo shirts have all been put away for the season. I am wearing my Padres’ Hoffman shirt today and I will wear my Gwynn on their first game of the playoffs. I grew up with the Halos, but my college roommate in the 80’s got me into the Padres too.
I will NEVER root for the Doyers.
I appreciate the post game articles, even though there have been 89 sad ones this season so far.
‘Nuff said.
