Red Alert! Angels injury! Yes we saw what happened last night- no. A SP injury! Tyler Anderson was scratched for today’s game. Meaning that we will have our 6th Starting Pitcher this season. I mean, technically it is more than that but the other 2 times were bullpen games so I didn’t count them. Especially since Jack came back for that rotation spot.
Anyway who is this 6th Starting Pitcher anyway? Mederos. Victor Mederos. 2022 6th round Angels draft pick. Well, he pitched 2 games in the bullpen before today. So maybe this is a bullpen game after all? This time it is injury that led to it so it feels more 6th Starting Pitcher than the last 2 times. Hmmm.
So… How did he do? Well he went 4 innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits striking out 3 and walking 3. Bullpen game? Yeah a bullpen game. Lots of 3s.
Highlighted Recap
The first victim was the Angels cameras as technical difficulties caused things to be iffy for the first inning on broadcast. Which is why the Dodgers scored in the first. Well actually it was due to a hanging breaking ball that drove in a run.
The Angels did score immediately when the camera setup was fixed however, with a Ward very long single.
Mocada then drive in another run with a double right after!
Jo Adell then brought that 3rd run in with an rbi ground out.
Just as things were going well… Victor gave up a 2 run home run to Rushing. Who even is Rushing?!
Taylor BLAKE Ward continued to have a career year as he hit a home run in the 3rd to Un tie it.
And then in the 4th Bryce Teodosio got his first career rbi as Rengifo barely slid under the tag.
Time for the 5th inning and the 2nd arm in the bullpen game is the 70s looking Andrew Chafin. He got 2 quick outs but allowed 3 straight singles.
They bring in Zeferjahn and he walks in a run. Bruh.
Maybe Victor should have gone out for the 5th? At least Zeferjahn struck out the next guy so it was still tied. Yay…
The 6th was looking bad but then Ohtani HIT INTO A TRIPLE PLAY!
9th inning time and it was still 5-5. Jansen came in to face Ohtani in a non save situation aaaaaaand home run. Of course.
Luckily the Angels tied it on a bases loaded sac fly. No being thrown out at 3b this time.
Now with the bases loaded again with a Trout walk it was all on Taylor Ward. Will he be the hero, or to extras we will go?
He struck out. Typical. To be fair, that 3-0 pitch should have been ball 4. GIB ME ROBO UMPS!
But the 10th went well and the Angels had a chance in the bottom of the inning.
AND JO ADELL DID IT. WALK OFF HIT! ANGELS WIN!
Upcoming
Last game vs the Dodgers this year tomorrow. And then a weekend series at Sacramento. No fame Thursday. Again.
Let’s further bury the Blew Crue tonight
Go Halos!!
Adele’s walk up music today should be, “Damn, it’s good to be a gangster’
That would be me when I’m late.
Anyone into “Alien Earth” on Disney Plus/Hulu?
Watched the first episode last night. Epic production and world building so far.
Same, same.
Interesting that they’re laying out that competing corporations are competing in similar, yet different, R&D projects.
Any longtime fan of the franchise has always pondered the possibility of Xenomorph outbreak on Earth. I’m surprised it took this long, frankly.
I’ve been looking for a new show to get into. I like Sci-fi. Will check it out!
You know who’s not getting much love but probably should? Burke n Brogdon. They have been pretty darn nails of late.
The Killer Bees
Jo Adell, he’s like “I am 0-4 but I am gonna fkin do SOMETHING with this AB….” and then he goes and bounces it into the ground super agro hard for the win. The Jo/Neto/Nolan pile has a lot of good solid anger issues. They simmer like a fine stew.
More on the triple play:
The most previous one prior to tonight was in Nolan’s first game as an Angel. It was against the Rays and he was involved in that play also.
Amazing to think about: The Angels franchise have played 10,318 regular season games, which would calculate to over 270,000 put outs, and off those only 24 of them by way of a triple play. There have been eight in franchise history, and Nolan has been involved in two of them.
You’re supposed to declare that he was a wasted draft pick at some point in that comment.
A first baseman who can’t hit for power!
My schadenfreude is so huge I don’t own clothing that can hide it. It is wonderful. The Doyers jaw must be tired from sucking it at this point. Hurray Padres. BEST GIFT EVAH? Beat on Ohtani tomorrow. Chances are slim, but they are always slim. Please baby Jesus, let me have this.
Thank you Germans for such a beautiful concept
And the cherry on the stem, MLB Pipeline released their new farm rankings tonight, and the Angels are no longer the worst in baseball. In fact they get their best mark in five years.
They’re #27!
https://www.mlb.com/news/farm-system-rankings-2025-midseason
Dodgers get the No.1, s#*t!. I missed them trading for Tibbs but Dustin May did well tonight.
And the Twins, who did what the Angels should have done at the deadline, importing ten new prospects while trading everyone on expiring contracts, are now #2, with six of those ten in their top 30 now.
And the magic man, Trader Jerry, somehow managed to secure the top offensive targets at the deadline and still retain almost all his top prospects, keeping his club’s farm at #3, with NINE of the top 100 prospects in the game. Dude just gets better each year at the draft-and-trade game. His team is on an 8 game win streak and has a share of first place. Sheesh.
TWENTFRIGGINSEVEN! Man those are some nose bleed heights! We can stop focusing on developing now right?
D@mn!!
Entertainment, watching the post game show ‘on the Dodgers channel. Excuses, bullshit analysts, trying to spin positives on a loss, I love it.
Doing Orel surgery?
Lol. I like how stupid Karros made comment before yesterday’s game that old pictures of Ohtani at Angels look awkward and he looks a lot more comfortable in a Dodgers uniform.
Cannot stand Karros, especially as a broadcaster. Steve Garvey wanna be.
He looked pretty comfortable in all the HR’s I saw him hit in an Angels uniform at Angels Stadium.
I was hanging in a bar full of Doyer fans slightly grinning like a sociopath. It was a good scene.
#brave

I was in the shower for the triple play. I couldn’t stand the aroma after cleaning up the kitchen, so I cleaned up. Got back to the TV just in time for the jubilation. Still have never seen a triple play live, in person or on TV.
Neither have I. And I also missed it. What a bummer.
Hard to see the Dodgers doing much in the postseason if they even make it. Lots of holes.
They will have to run it through the Brew Crew, an amazing season thus far
Doyers payroll? 341M not including deferals. Brewers? 113M. Good lord I’d love it if they tore the Doyers a wide one.
Two wins are awesome. Now give us the coup de grace tomorrow !!!
hat tip Mederos too – he held his own
We don’t get this W without Logan’s walk in the 9th too
Just watched the triple play again – Neto’s throw was perfect to avoid hitting the runner.
Such fun watching the dodger runners scrambling, trying to get back to their bases, unsuccessfully
it was one of the best defensive plays by an Angel ever I’ve seen.
Even all those great OF catches and HR robbed, they saved an out or run in an insignificant game. considering the circumstances and the hitter here, this was amazing.
Jimmy Edmunds says hi
Brogdon, CMo and Jo saved us from Ray’s decisions
Angels actually won this game twice thanks to that shitty umpire.
We overcame Doyer Privilege
I’m a greedy pig, lets get the sweep tomorrow. I have people arriving from China tomorrow, otherwise, I’d hit up this game.
Go Halos
The Dogs have lost 20 of their last 32 games and their division lead has gone from 9 to zero.
That’s what we like to see…Dodger collapse
Let’s Go Padres !!!
Padres have a monster bullpen, Dodgers dont.
Which plays big during a pennant run or playoff run.
We went to the Padres vs. Red Sox game on Saturday night. The Pads have a cool stadium
Petco is one of the best, if not THE best, stadiums in MLB.
The billion dollar blue boys lost to The Angels ….. again, and are at risk of losing the division lead.
They have lost division lead, Padres have run them down.
They are tied after tonight, correct?
Yes
