The Angels and White Sox opened their matchup with a shaky first inning on both sides, but neither team managed to cash in. Logan O’Hoppe and Jo Adell were retired early, while the Angels left the bases loaded after Schanuel’s single and a walk to Neto.
The White Sox struck first in the second inning when Lenyn Sosa launched a 413 foot homer to left center, and Andrew Benintendi followed with a 375 foot shot to right for a quick 2-0 lead. The Angels couldn’t respond in the bottom half, grounding into a double play to squander Rengifo’s pitch.
Chicago added to its lead in the fourth. Robert Jr. drove in Vargas on a sacrifice fly after a Sosa walk and a Benintendi double, making it 3-0. The Angels’ bats stayed quiet, going down in order.
Momentum shifted in the fifth when Campero crushed a 438 foot two run homer to center, bringing the Angels back to 3-2. But the White Sox answered in the sixth with a 433 foot blast from Montgomery, stretching the lead to 4-2.
Both teams went quiet in the seventh until the Angels finally broke through. Nolan Schanuel singled to right and O’Hoppe later brought him home with a sacrifice fly to left, cutting the deficit to 4-3. The Angels loaded the bases with two outs but couldn’t push across the tying run, leaving the game tight heading into the late innings.
In the eighth, the Angels went down in order as Moncada grounded out, Adell lined out to center, and Ward flied out to left. In the top half, the White Sox extended their lead when Sosa singled to right to drive in Robert Jr., who had reached on a hit and stolen second. That RBI made it 5‑3, and the inning ended with no further damage. In the ninth, Rojas homered to center. 6-3 Sox.
What a crap show. At least I got a free Japan jersey. And fireworks
It’ll be fun reading about the group being at the game. It sure feels weird to have a 10 pm start
All you need to know about this organization is that they are using a .174 hitter in the DH spot.
Tough game yesterday!
No, not the Angels-White Sox.
It was the Pirates – who scored 9 runs in the 1st, 16 runs for the game, had a 16-10 lead in the 8th inning, and STILL lost.
And then there were the Yankees – who scored 12 runs in the game, had a 12-10 lead in the 9th, and lost.
For today’s game:
Civale has faced the Angels 4 times, going 2-1, with ERA 5.57
For the season, he’s 1-4, ERA 4.10
Hendricks has faced the White Sox 13 times, going 2-6, ERA 4.75
For the season, he’s 6-7, ERA 4.73
For the lineups – looks like Trout is out sick. Campero is DH & batting 8th. Teodosio is CF & batting 9th.
Yankees or Pirates could have had a Janson and Detmers to keep them from blowing the leads.
Little Johnny wore a Cubs hat to school one day.
His teacher asked why he’d do something stupid like that.
”because my parents are Cubs fans, that’s why.”
The teacher replied “NOT a good reason. What if they were drug dealers and whores?”
Johnny: ”Then I would wear a White Sox hat.”
Bryce Teodosio up from SLC, Lamont Wade Jr. released
he’s the same age as Jo, so not really a prospect.
For sure. We did need someone who can actually play defense though
Shirley you jest!
Undrafted free agent in 2021 from Clemson. Was on 40 man roster and played last fall and non-tendered last fall but re-signed a minor league contract. (I had to look him up).
The musical chairs continues.
I mentioned downthread that the Padres debuted several recent draftees last night at low-A Lake Elsinore, and we should probably expect similar promotions soon. The trade deadline is usually the benchmark for new promotions. Looks like that happened this afternoon.
TGA, Jordan, Soto, Lara and Alvarez were assigned to Inland Empire, along with recent college draftees Slate Alford and Nick Rodriguez. These were the guys I was expecting to make the jump. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Isaiah Jackson or Munroe with an assignment soon as well.
Cracking open the seal in Tennessee for.the Angels eventual new home. Stadium is a bit odd for baseball, but it will do.
a baseball stadium that also has a concert stage right beside the field.
boogity boogity boogity
Looks like it rains in Tennessee, Arte would want that fixed before he moves there….. and we know he’s to cheap to put up a dome over the race track.
Flashback to 2017 – Josh Maywood gave me the HH assignment for a Body Armor promo event with Ryan Blaney and Mike Trout

Trout showing tiny bit of Pit Crew crack…. Jack Stephvonvich
Bristol. I’d rather see a short track race at the Big A, but this will work.
How to put smart people with a lot of money and resources and bettir education oppertunities in thir playce…….Good Will Hunting movie where Will puts the rich kid from old money in his place.
😂 😂 💪 💪
Joey, do you like movies about Gladiators?
Nelson Rada and Denzer Guzman promoted to AAA.
I think Perry has these 2 in his plans for the 2026 major league club 👀

Nelson Rada sucks
If we’re lucky he’ll be as good as Rengifo
BTW Soriano is the first Latin player that we’ve had who’s half way decent.
THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING
Okay, I’ll bite. Rada looks like a centerfielder with a good glove, has no power but can get on base, and can steal 30 or so bases, all while being 4 or more years younger than the league average through his minor league career. Sounds pretty good to me, but I’m interested to hear why you think he sucks.
lol
If he is as good as this community thinks, then trade him in the near future because this team needs power and starting pitching.
Why didn’t we go after Jarren Duran?
Nelson Rada doesn’t suck. He’s been putting up numbers all season that are 25% higher than the average player, and he’s 19. The average player age is 24 in the league.
That doesn’t suck.
He may become a fourth outfielder or a second division regular, but that’s a very fine outcome for the #29 ranked player in his intl class.
Why are the publications (Baseball America and Baseball Digest) not talking about him. If he can be Steven Kwan in Spanish but I want power hitters not slap hitters. We should’ve traded him to Boston for Jarren Duran.
Are you talking recently or something?
Surely you’re not forgetting guys like Vlad Guerrero…
Did Guerrero come from our own farm system…..NO!!!!
If you look at our own farm system history, we haven’t developed many Latin players PERIOD. K Rod….?

the boys ! 🇩🇴 🇻🇪
I’m gonna archive this comment and my response comment.
Why, because the Trash Pandas had a supposed good core a few years ago…. WHERE ARE THESE GUYS TODAY???
Not sure where this prospect is on P12’s radar:
Turks put me on him during the ACL championship. Honestly, haven’t tracked him at all
He’s defensive catcher in the Jose Molina mold. Probably not a bat, but good enough to have a durable career as a backup, maybe for many years.
Juan Flores at Tri-City… quietly, still hitting under .200 but only 19. Any strong opinion about his glove/bat so far.
https://flic.kr/p/2riUQKh
short and stocky, like Yogi. He threw out about 50% caught stealing which is crazy.
Taylor Blake Ward
nice.. now let’s assign some of the 2025 draftees to affiliates too.
They will all be assigned to the “Arizona Pitching Factory,” or whatever they call it, “The Arm Factory”?, “AZK UCL Stretch Lab”?
That’s where they’ve already been. Now they’re actually being promoted to the lowest level of full season pro ball.
The guys they just drafted? Shouldn’t they be working out the rest of the season at the lab with the experts in white coats, then send them to various minor league teams afterwards?
Cheesecake Factory
Way to reward Perry’s “faith” in you boys – a loss where the second worst team in the league totally outclassed you.

Love love love love it!
Guzman probably isn’t the longterm solution at 3rd. He has potential to be the Rengifo replacement as a utility infielder.
That sounds about right to me.
Soft shutdown?
Might have already been mentioned but… Anyone notice that Ryan Johnson, like, didn’t pitch in July? But he’s also not on any injury report. Maybe reached some kind of innings limit?
Also: none of the 2025 draftees/signees seem to have been rostered, aside from the ACL team. That’s org-typical for the HS players, but usually the majority of the college players see some draft-year action.
I forget if it was Sam Blum or Jeff Fletcher that reported it but I remember reading he was shut down for fatigue
They’re managing Johnson’s innings – not a fatigue case like Dana. He may see more action this month, but yes, they’re being particularly cautious with him,
All of the prep and college draftees are initially assigned to ACL by default. They’re beginning scrimmage games, 2-3x per week. We’ll probably see select appearances at the A ball leagues soon. The Padres had their first collegiate assignments to Lake Elsinore last night. Typical to see some appearances right after the trade deadline.
Level and Cayama (SF) moved up to A pretty much right after ACL ended.
any one you’d like to see from ACL move up to IE to finish the season? Or any guesses?
Pretty much everyone they promoted 2-3 hrs after you posted this. 🙂
It’s safe to say that we will be talking about Perry’s trade deadline moves, and this particular game, in early November, just as we still talk about the “big splat” Giolito trade that blew up in Perry’s face, and not trading Ohtani. Seriously, Perry would have been better off just not doing anything. Bringing back Luis Garcia is like walking around with a neon sign that says “I’m a Dumbass”
I still can’t get over the terrible deadline moves he made, especially the GioLito fiasco. It’s sad to think doing nothing is generally Minasian’s best move. I still think getting coffee for a real GM would probably be his best skill.
He’s gained a lot of weight……
He reminds of former Phillies outfielder Greg Luzinski back in the day.
No fat shaming… he’s just differently weighted.
He’s not fat, he just models the “before” pictures for Weight Watchers
Wow. I missed this game to go to a stupid wedding. Looks like it was rad. I’m not even gonna scroll down. I bet the site’s stuffed full of guys claiming to have wanted to sell at the deadline now, but not mentioning that by “sell’ they meant Rengifo and Soler. Mixed in with some nitpicking about Neto or one defensive play or real managers of baseball instead of the fact that the team has what? Four hits? And the pitching was 29th ranked looking.
Because
The Team
Is Not
Very Good.
Still plenty of ball left. Let’s see these boys get near .500, maybe over. Hope Adell and Nolan and Logan pick it up for the last chunk of the year and CMo comes on strong.
Go Tigers.
Fugggedabout this game, gitch. More importantly you missed the debut of our pal Thibodeaux, who clobbered the 66ers bullpen with his winning ways.
Their catcher looked good.
the evolution of Gus has him looking more like Giffy everyday
you missed a rare occurrence- I would love to know how often the first out of an inning in a base loaded situation has been made with a Catcher picking a guy off 3b.
I was at the game tonight, that Neto pickoff killed the Halos early.
Angels better check their rear view mirror, the A’s are rapidly catching up.
One game past the deadline and the Fangraphs playoff odds have already dropped from 3.6% to 2.3%.
Or referencing the Minasian Thesaurus:
contending
competitive
meaningful
I’m shocked it is as high as 2.3%
Trader Jerry’s Mariners with the late inning heroics and the Angels are now 5.5 games back of WC3.
Meanwhile my man Cardell Thibodeaux defeats the 66ers almost singlehandedly in Christian Moore’s rehab stint. Cardell’s first pro game, and he goes 2 for 5 with two RBIs (incl the game winner) and no Ks.
Not a bad time to be a Padres fan.
