Last game in Sacramento and it is a day game. With how far the ball went last night… Yeah I’m expecting fireworks. The question will be will we get more of them than the A’s?
On the mound was Mr. Anderson. The Tyler one. Angels have used 4/5 of the Andersons this season. You can mix them up (like I did yesterday. Sorry) Anyway he went 4 and 2/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 7 hits striking out NONE and walking 6. That was bad. Very bad, Mr. Anderson.
The offense will have to pick him up. And the bullpen will have to pitch most of this game. That’s not ideal. Good thing that the Angels bats are hot, and so is the air. Sizzling even.
Highlighted Recap
The ball started flying early. Too bad it was the A’s who did it.
In the 3rd, Anderson allowed a sac fly to put the Angels more in a hole
The Angels did score with a Ward single in the 4th.
Neto drove in a run in the 5th to make it close.
Anderson wasn’t having a good day, luckily his defense kept it from being worse
Too bad Anderson walked in a run anyway.
Make that 2.
The offense would have to pick him up. Good thing Taylor Ward is ON FIRE! GRAND SLAM IN THE 7TH!
Logan saw that Ward has more HR than him and decided to hit one too.
Bases loaded in the ninth and Adell walked. Run number 8.
Do I hear 9? Yes. It is a sac fly.
Make it 10. Hello Newman.
Brogdon pitched the 9th and the Angels swept the A’s in 4 games, 7 wins in a row!
Upcoming
3 games vs the Marlins this weekend. And then the Yankees next week. Ugh.
I’m straight up having a good time! Anyone else watching it on delay like it’s a regular night game like me?
Me…even on replay I don’t think we’re coming back from 5-2.
Two grand slams in a week pretty, pretty, PREEETTY good .
Larry David pretty good.flv
M’s lose, 4 games back. Eat it Mariners! Unfortunately it was the Ass’tros that beat them 9-2. Got to root for the trash can beaters this series.
NEVER will I root for cheaters.
F’ing Ward is on one. And it’s beautiful to behold.
We’re at the Simple Mjnds (with Soft Cell & Mordern English) concert.
Today Was A Good Day.
Now. He needs to do it a home. Doesn’t seem to hit well at the Big A.
Nice! Love both bands and I’m SCOTTISH.

Cheers mate.
Christian Moore finally hit his first homer in May tonight. Those Salt Lake nights are boosting his morale. 🙂
(Dakota Hudson has surrendered four HRs himself through six.)
Beat me to it lol
Now 3-3. Still should have figured out the better AA pitching first.

Salt Lake is crazy. The three guys on their *bench* all have averages between .324 and .382.
But good on Moore for making contact tonight. Last night he had the triple sombrero with 3 Ks.
C Moore’s finally tally tonight : 4 for 5 including 1 HR 1 2B 3 runs 3 RBIs 2 SBs . That has to be his best overall offensive performance of his professional career
Glad we fired that bum of a hitting coach when we did. Really turned things around in a hurry immediately afterward.
Angels definitely on a hot streak! Love to see it!
the boys
O’Hoppe looks like a gladiator
One more comment:
I really like Terry Smith and Mark Langston on the broadcasts. They don’t have an easy task doing play by play sitting in a booth in Anaheim when team is on the road. I live in CST, so the home games will be around 9 pm. Really appreciate having satellite radio. Terry and Mark are great to listen to.
I subscribe to MLB TV, but I use MLB radio audio and listen to Terry and Mark. I have listened to them so long that they both seem like old friends to me. In Terry’s first year with the club (Rory Markus started the same season), the Angels won the World Series. I would love for him to stick around long enough for the Angels to be good once again. Mark has helped me understand a lot about pitching.
Terry and Mark are very good. I have also learned a great deal from Mark. The magical 2002 season. I was there when Adam had his three homer playoff game and the 2nd world series game.
There were other fun seasons, 1967, 1970, ’79 etc. Stories for another day.
The Angels were a big surprise in ’67 tight thru August and right to the end knocking Detroit out on the last weekend. The Twins losing on the last day, and the Red Sox going from last in ’66 to first place in ’67. Exciting season for sure.
I use KLAA internet website – no subscription needed. Free of charge.
Yeah, I just figured that out about a month ago, they used to go to alternative program before this year on KLAA online once the game started but that has stopped. I will go your route next season.
Agree. I think they are both really good. I was in my car today and listening to them on 710 AM when Taylor Ward hit the Grand Slam that put us ahead. It was a great call. The emotion built as the ball traveled but it was not overblown. You could feel the excitement in Terry’s voice, and that helps us as fans get into the moment.
That was a great call. I was in the office. 💥
Much nicer playing in SAC than OAK. Bad Angels memories in the Oakland Mausoleum. I go way back with the Halos, 1966 to be exact. So many Oakland bad times. Such as the game in 1971 when Rudy May and Vida Blue hooked up and went 10 innings each of shut out ball a game the Angels lost in the 19th, 1-0. That was Tony C’s final game, he struck out 7, or was it 8 times that night, his vision loss had returned. Also my Bakersfield buddy Billy Cowan also struck out 7, or was it 8 times that night. I listened to the incompatible Dick Enberg. Thank you A’s for getting out of the Muasoleum. Unimaginable a pitcher going 10 innings anymore in one game.
Meant to say incomparable Dick Enberg
I live in Idaho and found the Angels broadcasts in 1976 (first a clear station out of Bakersfield that later became a Dodger affiliate) and then 710 AM KMPC which we could pick up in southern Idaho around dark time. I would also find Angels games on the shortwave radio (Voice of America and Armed Forced radio when the Angels games were on there once or so a week). Enberg is the gold standard for all baseball radio announcers as far as I am concerned.
Some of my favorites calls of his were, “It’s nervous time in Anaheim” during a tense moment at a home game (some of family still use that phrase because I always used it to describe any tense moment in any sporting event or video game, etc.). Then, he would say the “halo shines tonight” after a win and his home run call, “the outfielder is at the warning track, the wall, and Don Baylor will touch them all” (he had a rhthym to that call which was incredible).
I still have dozens of cassette tapes where I would tape his calls over the air, don’t know if the tapes are still good or not.
That Bakersfield radio station was KBIS. They played middle of the road music, Angels and Rams. They used to do a bus ride from Bako to Angels Stadium. I was a freshman in high school and went on one. Saw the Angels play Cleveland, 1970. Sam McDowell pitched for Cleveland, Angels won 2-1. The 1970 season was so great until early September.
I will never forget Dick Enbergs call on Ryan’s 383rd strikeout in ’73. Fantastic.
Dick Enberg was the best the Angels ever had, but the best ever is tough to agree with. Vince Scully, Mel Allen, Jack Buck, Erie Harwell, Red Barber, Curt Gowdy, Dick Enberg, Bob Prince, Jack Brickhouse, Lindsey Nelson, Bob Uecker, Harry Kalas, Jon Miller, Joe Garagiola, Jerry Coleman, Ralph Kiner, Bob Costas, Lon Simmons, John Sterling, Harry Caray, are my top twenty in that order. Color announcers Tony Kubek, Joe Morgan, Tim McCarver, Jim Kaat, Joe Garagiola, Dizzy Dean, Gubi (Biased).
Angels PxP, Dick “Oh My” Enberg, Rory Markas, Rojas, Bob Starr, Dave Niehaus, Buddy Blattner, Don Drysdale.
No order here, but Guby, Joe Torre, Sparky Anderson, all come to mind as I can’t recall any others, as color announcers.
All the greatest were stand alone’s in the radio or tv booth with a few exceptions, as someone correctly came to the concluion that very few could do it by themselves. I admire those who could do it by themselves so well.
Joe Torre did P x P at least one year on TV when Reggie would join him in the booth
I had a kid in Computer Skills class try to type Continental Airlines and Word changed it to Congenital. Good object lesson on how not to trust this dammed machine.
Oh My!
He would have loved Taylor Wards Grand Slam today when there was “ a halo over every base “
It is comical the standard eeyores are nowhere to found on a hot streak. The Rox site must have borrowed them so they can get their self deprivation fix
Most of the eeyores are happily cheerleading now
We might need to find new haters, because the old haters are becoming fans again! Maybe someday people will hate us because we’re good. Hate us with bitterness and jealousy, wouldn’t that be fun. They would say Eat it Perry we we lose, instead of Eat it Jerry.

Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.
Buc Nasty!
Puff daddy has small shiny dolphin teeth even funnier now.
The Angels have played 30 road games (15-15) and only 19 home games (9-10). So, I think that I would have taken a 24-25 start back in late March. We are also 4.5 games out in the division and 2.5 games in the wildcard.
I don’t think we are going to contend and I hope that we don’t sell the farm for a slim chance to do so, but I want the team to be competitive for as long as they can with an eye toward a better future. The last 7 games have been fun.
This “Angels 2025 Reality TV Series” has become very interesting. Love the cast. But they need to keep their eye on the prize, development of the kids and building a perpetual contender. Build a winner!
I’m on the same page. The good news is that two of the key players (Neto, O’Hoppe) driving the recent offense are locked up for 4-6 years, and Schanuel is making progress on his underlying swing metrics. So there’s hope for sustaining performance while continuing to add to the core.
Now they need young rotation arms and more youthful power at the IF/OF corners – seems plenty available in the draft and via trade, so hope they don’t punt on the opportunity in pursuit of an accelerated win timeline.
Wow. What team are we watching? The fire Washington backers are retreating I guess. Nice to see 7 in a row. And a confident team playing. Fun times.
just when i thought i was out, they pull me back in.
IKR, I don’t know what is happening.
Thank you Sweet Merciful Baseball Gods!
Good Times!
What a game. Oakland’s bullpen looks worsier than ours.
Love seeing Ward and O’Hoppe on fire.
LOGANS RUN! Home run derby! What a fantastic trade to get him.
Just don’t send him to Carousel. They say it’s all that, but it looks like a glorified bug zapper me.
“It is my job……to freeze you.”
My favorite line in that movie.
That is my favorite documentary.
Indeed. Farrah Fawcett was so beautiful.
Taylor Ward really is a light switch – guy is either on or off, no dimmer levels in between.
With today’s game, he’s gotten his wRC+/OPS+ right in line with career averages and 2024’s stats. If he can get that OBP north of .300 again, I think he becomes a valuable trade asset again at the deadline.
Of course if he were to do that, it might mean the Angels are actually contending in July, which would be a rather novel situation.
Arte will order Perry to trade away the Farm!
Yes, yes he will.
Personally, I don’t like those light switch guys. Trade him.
So he’s like … binary?
Yes – JK Rowling approved.
😂
Well that didn’t suck. I was too busy to watch at work, but happy to check in to this news.
With today’s game, Neto’s wRC+ is up to 151, which would lead all AL shortstops if he had enough ABs to qualify.
O’Hoppe, at a 140 wRC+, is second only to Cal Raleigh in the AL.
Would be hard to argue against including both in the ASG if it were held next week.
Neto an All Star???
If he sustains at this level, who says no?
Gunnar Henderson having an off year, Neto can definitely claim a spot.
Starting All Star?
Starters are still a popularity contest – and without being qualified (and on the top lists) and playing for the Angels (and on the West coast), it will remain a tough sell.
Not to say he isn’t currently deserving.
Give my boy a blank check and a key to the city.
Neto is a superstar and the savior.
Neto is not a superstar just yet… Judge is a superstar. Ohtani is a superstar. Bryce Harper…But I believe he can and will get there.
