Two games, two times, one gamethread. Pretty great way to wrap up the Cactus League slate.
The home half takes on Texas while a split squad heads to the Rockies. We’ll chat about both games here.

WTF. Hendricks/Detmers = pretty sick. The power of 0 BBs
Boo hoo. No hitting. I wonder how Arte is managing to force stupid Perry to force every player on the roster to not hit…. science?
He’d be wasted as a long reliever. You need to use him in tied games or close games …. maybe a hybrid role of some sort …
They may stick him in the pen as an opener/long opener/spot starter…. still get him 50+ innings the first couple months, have him start after trades/injuries…. Silseth is next after him…. don’t need to rush Dana/Klassen etc
Reid needs to stop listening to Angel FO and its coaching staff and just pitch. Put Reid in a different organization and watch him grow. He has swing and miss stuff.
I love Reid. His FB is average/below average and he struggles locating it. Not sure how that’s an organizational issue? It’s a Reid issue
I think Reid is a victim of Perry’s over reliance on analytics and the Angels general bad development as an organization. His arm slot changed from 2023 to 2024. In addition, became less reliant on the slider. The pitch percentage gap between his FB and slide was more pronounced resulting in hitters just sitting on his FB.
What I thought was especially odd given that the Angels were pitching poor, sending a guy like Detmers down to the minors 2024 after proving he is big league ready, came off like a narcissistic move on the part of the coaching staff and management.
In July, Detmers name was bantered around he trade market, a lot of teams were reportedly interested in obtaining his services. Clearly, they see there is talent to be harvested. Free Reid.
Goldilocks spring for the most part. Good weather. Some good kids stepped up. No big injuries and some starting pitching depth (really.) I dissed the over 30’ FAs we signed but now impressed. All good from AZ.
